kailani walked down the beach, stopping every few minutes or so to stick her feet in the sand and just stand there. she had a favourite spot on the beach that she liked to hang out on on her days off. it was semi secluded but still got a healthy dose of sunshine and it had the perfect spot to keep her surfboard, when she wasn't out on the water using it. although she really spent more time on her surfboard in the water than she actually did relaxing on the beach.
kai was ocean addicted. if she wasn't surfing on her board she was often sitting on it on out in the water. not only was kailani ocean addicted she was beach addicted. she spent so much time out in the sun that her blonde hair was extremely sun-kissed. she used to hate the way it looked but now she loved it. she had learned to like it after a week of being out in the sun. it made it look so much less dull than it had before she'd spent most of her days out on the beach. of course that had been years ago, before she went pro in surfing. when both her parents were still alive. she vaugely remembered her mom telling her that her hair was fine the way it was and that she shouldn't worry about it. it hadn't helped much. just thinking about her mom made her miss the woman.
as she started thinking about her mom and how much she missed her kai made her way over to her favourite spot on the beach. dang! someone's there. she thought. kailani had never come to the spot to find someone else there. she really didn't mind but it surprised her anyway. every other time she came to hang out on this spot it was free. well maybe he won't mind if i join him. kai thought. once she was sure she was close but not close enough to be invading the guys space she asked "do you mind if i hang out here with you?".
she really hoped he didn't but if he did she could just find another spot. after all kailani did know all the best spots on the beach to leave her stuff while she was out on the water surfing. she figured that knowledge came with spending so much of her time out here. if it came to it, kai could just leave her stuff at the rental shack. whoever was on rental duty that day wouldn't mind. she trusted anyone who worked in the rental shack as well so she knew her stuff would be completely safe with whoever was there. it would just be nice to have a spot on the beach to come back to.
WHEN I'M LOST AT SEA, I HEAR YOUR VOICE, AND IT CARRIES ME, IN THIS WORLD WE'RE JUST BEGINNING; TO UNDERSTAND THE MIRACLE OF LIVING......
there had been an incessant vibrating in the confines of the bedside drawer which robert could not quite figure out how to rid himself of it. it had taken the sound of continuous shrill beeping to raise the drake male from his alcohol-induced stupor as he fell off the bed in one instantaneous moment. barely stumbling onto his feet whilst holding the bedside table for good measure, he groggily reached out for to flick the light switch before instantly recoiling from the illumination that was provided by its electrical source. in a feeble attempt to remove the fatigue from his eyes, he reached out for the complimentary bottle of evian on his bedside and permitted the stream of clear water from the bottle onto the bull's eye that was his face. feeling considerably refreshed, he yanked open the drawer only to find that he had forgotten to switch off the mobile pager provided to him from mount sinai. cursing inwardly and muttering incoherently, he deftly switched off the pager and chucked it into his open luggage.
having arrived at the island resort three days ago, bobby had barely bothered to unpack as he preferred to slowly ease into the carefree lifestyle of regular tourists on the island. he recalled a phone conversation he had with his mother, late yesterday evening, imploring her only child to end his sabbatical and return to new york. 'fat chance of that happening anytime soon,' he mused to himself. sighing inwardly, bobby proceeded to make a halfhearted attempt at retrieving the clothes that he had blatantly discarded on the floor the previous night. he contemplated returning to the luxurious king sized bed, afforded to him by the resort to resume his slumber until it dawned upon him that he hadn't eaten anything since dinner yesterday.
walking into the kitchen, he contemplated joining the queue of tourists that would've descended onto the buffet table located at the resort's restaurants. deciding against having to wait for his meal, he promptly munched on an apple as he briefly dressed himself in the appropriate manner befitting a tourist enjoying his vacation. a brief check in the mirror merely indicated that he was eons away from the sterile and clean confines of mount sinai. swiping his mobile phone and aviators off the dresser, he briefly paused on his way out to dispose the remnants of his apple and was greeted by the sun's warm rays. smiling to several tourists, he proceeded to make his way towards the beach.
as the gentle morning breeze tousled with his hair, he chastised himself for not making that appointment with his barber prior to getting onto the plane. drake was often mindful of his hair and the styles that he adorns, often a source of gossip amongst the nurses at his place of employment. having located a satisfactory spot where he was content to laze about and soak up the sunshine, he paused momentarily to observe a young couple running towards the sea in the periphery of his line of sight. the brief moment of wistfulness was soon permeated by a soft, accented voice directed towards him. bobby took a moment to casually study the tanned, attractive blonde to whom the query belonged to. raising a quizzical brow, he smiled and gestured for her to join him. "sure, it would save me from having to enjoy this breathtaking scenery by myself." after all, who was he to deny what was the right of all tourists? it would appear that his morning had improved exponentially already.
this post is 591 words long. i'd like to say that i haven't done this in a while! credit for this lovely thing goes to songs about daisy for the banner and template @ Beautiful Disaster at CAUTION. lyrics; belinda carlisle.my character is wearing this.
while she stood there waiting for an answer kai occasionally would glance at the waves. she was studying them to see how they were coming. she made sure she wasn't ignoring the guy she'd just asked if she could hang out with. "thanks. i'm kai." she said as she stuck her board and her beach bag in a place she knew would stay shaded for awhile. kailani really didn't want her wax to get ruined by the sun. it wouldn't be good for the wax to get melted off before she actually got any surfing done that day and she just didn't want her beach bag in the sun.
kailani got settled in a spot on the sand not far from her board but in the sunshine. once she was all comfy in the sand she asked "how long have you been on kala island?" as she kicked off her flip flops and stuck her toes in the sand. people might think it was weird but kai loved to feel the sand between her toes. it was literally like the sand was in her blood or something. she was convinced that every aspect of the beach was in her blood. she'd thought that for years and years.
this was kailani's first day off in over a week. she was ready to have a fun day at the beach and relax. things had been so busy lately. there was a lull in surfing lessons for awhile because of a big swell that had come in and kai had pretty much had everyday off for a couple of weeks, unofficially at least. when the swell had calmed down, lessons had picked up and gotten crazy. people who had never had any interest in learning to surf had suddenly clamored for a spot on kai's lesson schedule on top of all the regulars she was teaching. needless to say kai felt like she deserved a day off. and it couldn't have come too soon. she had a very packed lesson schedule for the rest of the week and kailani felt like a break was a good idea, a very good idea. she would definetly be able to get in some surfing of her own today.
because she had been so busy the last week or so, kai wasn't sure when the last time was she had gotten some good surfing in. too long ago. way too long ago. she thought as she glanced out at the waves once again. it was quick and she was back to paying attention to the brown haired guy she was sitting nearby. she couldn't help but wonder if she should have introduced herself when she first talked to him a minute or so ago so she would know his name already.
