FORUM RULES
First, we'd like to welcome you to Sangre Azul. If you are considering joining, we can't thank you enough for your support. We know no one really likes rules, but they are unfortunately necessary to keep things running smoothly. So, everything is said with love, and if you have any questions feel free to contact staff. <3
REGISTRATION
First, thing to tackle is registration. Please register with your character's
first and last name only: for example, John Smith. If you wish to have more than one character, then make more than one account!
You may only make another character once your previous character has made 25 in-character threads posts. We ask that you please keep your number of characters at seven or less. More than that tends to make players feel overwhelmed by posting duties.
If you have already registered without following the first and last name standard, please send Mer, the head admin, a PM with your new username so that she can change it.
Also, for every vampire character you make (a BLUE BLOOD or CROATAN), your next character must be human (RED BLOOD, FAMILIAR, or CONDUIT). This is to keep our numbers even. It also gives you a challenge, playing different types of characters!
Don't forget that we love diversity here at Blue Bloods! Your character does not need to be a high school or college student to fit in. Feel free to make them older than those in their teens or early twenties. Right now we have a great need for older characters and familiars.
APPLICATION REVIEW
When you first sign up for a role play site the applications are probably the first thing you browse. So, we thought it's only prudent to let you know exactly what it is we expect from you in your application. Basically it's just common sense, so have no fear!
1. Proper grammar
2. Concise and clear sentence structure
3. Correct spelling
4. Well developed character details
5. Correct plot references
6. 2nd or 3rd person
7. Proper coding
You will have
two chances to revise your application to meet our standards and our staff will provide you with the necessary feedback to help you to do so. However, if you fail to adhere to our expectations we will politely decline you entrance into SA, something that rarely ever happens. Thank you, and please put time and effort into your work so that we can see the best you can bring to the board!
SITE RATING
Our board is currently rated
PG-13 . It’s rated this way because the novels our role play is based on are part of the
young adult genre. Therefore, we assume that many of our members fit this category and do not want to harm their innocence.
HOWEVER! Even though we are rated PG-13, this does not mean that violence, sex, and gore can never be played out. We do not support censorship of literature because we want everyone to be able to feel they can get creative and let their muses off the leash. We just ask that you post mature threads in the specified forum: here.
The forum is password protected to protect younger viewers who may not wish to see such threads.
Your thread should be placed in this section if it contains explicit violence, frequent coarse language, sexual activity and/or horror. We recommend that you be 17 years of age before posting here, but since we can't check your ID at the door, please request the password at your own risk.
If you'd like to roleplay a mature scene, don't be discouraged. After you've been accepted just send Mer, the head admin, a PM to ask for the code.
We also ask that you not have sexual relations with every character you meet. We don’t do that in real life, so why oh why would we want it on our board? Your character can be a bit of a floozy, but don’t take them around the block repeatedly. Instead, allude to past relations and stick to a select few that fit the context of your writing.
Questions about our rating or what is expected here? Feel free to message the staff!
USING YOUR HEAD
We expect maturity from our members. It's never good to see users holding grudges about what others have done in character. That’s just silly.
We’re all smart individuals, since we spend a large part of our days writing, so let’s act this way. Do not spam the board with disputes. If you have an issue with a member please contact them calmly and politely. If you cannot solve the issue on your own, then PM a staff member. We’d be more than happy to work through the issue with the both of you.
Our expectations regarding maturity apply to the chat box as well. If you can’t be friendly and welcoming, then don’t say anything at all. We’re a community and everyone should feel a part of it!
Also, please be respectful and listen to staff. Do not flame or create drama with other members. We're a family, a community of writers, and should act as such! You wouldn't be rude in real life, so please don't do so here just because it's the internet and you think you can get away with it.
If you a private problem to discuss, do so in private. Swearing is allowed on this forum, but not when maliciously directed at individuals. Never use it against members in a derogatory sense. With that said,
we are a tolerant board. You may not discriminate against other members for their sex, race, orientation, or nationality, etc.
GRAPHICS
Avatars should not to be larger or smaller than 150 x 150. If you cannot make your own avatar we can make one for you. To have an avatar made, request for graphics:
here. Signatures aren’t required, but they are allowed.
If you wish to use one, it shouldn’t be wider than 500px or taller than 250px. This is so that the images won't stretch the board. If this does happen, and the board is stretched, a staff member will make your images into an off-site link and send you a PM.
Please Note! Recently it has become common to post images in your threads. Please, make these no larger than 150 px high and only use these images in your first post of a thread. We don't want graphics tying up load time and distracting from this forums focus, which is writing and character development.
ADVERTISING & AFFILIATING
We only affiliate if we think a site is of interest to our members. We do, however, advertise regularly. For more information see the Yellow Pages in the OOC section.
Please Note! Advertising through personal messaging or any other section besides the Yellow Pages is forbidden. We don’t want our members to feel harassed. Please use the appropriate forum: here.
ACTIVITY EXPECTATIONS
Stay active and have fun! You should be posting a few times a week, or if that can't be managed, at least once every week and a half. We are always pruning our member list so that our member count is accurate. We have an INACTIVE MEMBERS group, where your character will be placed if you do not post for several weeks. For more information on this user group, read our
DELETION POLICIES further down in this post. If you're temporarily going away or permanently leaving the site, then notify the staff in the Absences thread so we know whether or not to delete your account.
POSTING MINIMUM
All posts must be
400 + words. We know that sometimes players have an off day and can't kick their muses into action. That's okay. But if you make a habit of painfully short posts that give other players nothing to reply to, a staff member will contact you.
Also, please look over your content before you post it. No one likes to see tons of spelling errors and run-on sentences. Make sure your words make sense. Reading it over two or three times is usually a good rule of thumb. If you have lots of errors, we might comment on it politely and ask you to pay closer attention to your posts.
POSTING MANNERS
Do not god mod unless it's for casual things. Definition: Saying what someone else's character does.
Bad example - "She ran at him, raising her fist and striking him backwards. She pummeled his chest with her fists and stabbed her knife into his side."
Good example - "She ran at him, raising her fists as if to strike his chest. She unsheathed her blade, read to strike it into his side."
Do not kill without permission! Characters may only be killed if the killer and victim have agreed to it, either in the OOC Chat or via personal messaging. Also, write in 3rd person. This means using words like "he," "she," and "they," but not "I" (except when writing thoughts).
C-BOX RULES
The chat box is a privilege, not a member right. We will warn (and ban) you from it if you break the following rules:
1. No spamming or advertising. We have threads for ads.
2. No flooding. 5 consecutive posts max.
3. Be polite to all members and staff.
4. No using excessive profanity.
5. No shouting (using all caps continuously).
6. No drama! This is a forum, not real life.
Thank you all and have fun!
DELETION POLICIES
Obviously, we would love to keep every registered member here at Blue Bloods! However, people inevitably fall inactive, do not sign up properly, etc. Therefore, we'd like to let everyone know what will happen to the accounts that fall under these categories.
If you sign up improperly.
example: cutekitty345, dunebuggy, etc.
Your account will be deleted if you do not message a staff member within 3 days of registering. Sorry, but this is in our rules. We are a role playing site. If you wish to be on a fan site go here. It's a great place with really nice staff members!
If you sign up only slightly improperly.
example: Smith John, John James Smith, john smith, etc.
We will send you a PM, notifying you that we need to make a change. Hopefully, you will agree. We will then tell you when your username has been altered. That way you will not be confused, try to log in, and then have it not work. If you do not reply to our PM within a week of receiving it, your account will be up for deletion.
If you sign up, but never post an application.
Once you register you have a week to post your character application. If for some reason you need more time, then post in the Absences thread or send a personal message to a staff member. If a week passes without a posted application, your account will be up for deletion during our next spring cleaning session.
If you post an incomplete application, but then disappear without warning.
If you are not actively working on your posted application, then after one month of it sitting in the Unfinished forum, we will delete it and your account.
If you are accepted, but then disappear without warning.
We know that computers break, real life overwhelms, etc., so we're not going to just toss your character into the abyss. If you want to check on the status of your account just PM a staff member at any time.
WHEN ABSENT FOR ONE MONTH:In this case we'll move your account to our INACTIVE MEMBERS user group. This means that you won't show up on the member list, but you won't be deleted from the database. This way you can PM us if you want to come back.
NOTICE! Once you become inactive, characters have the right to sever relations with yours. For example, if you are a Blue Blood and you take on a familiar, your familiar can say, "She abandoned me and I never talked to her again."
WHEN ABSENT FOR TWO MONTHS:After two months of absence, you lose the right to your face claim and angel name claim.
WHEN ABSENT FOR SIX MONTHS:We'll send you an email, hoping to see you back in action, wait a month, then delete your account and application.
