Still loving this fantastic app - even more so now I have it on my iPad.

The statistics are great but it would be really nice to have error rate and percentages for Cube action.... Maybe including missed doubles and right/wrong takes/drops. This would just about complete the app as a straight player/tutor.

I also wonder if you have considered a partner app - an Analyser? You could then pass positions or matches to the analyser rather than to a laptop.

I'd be happy to be the first to purchase such a program and I'm sure there must be many serious players out there who'd be very grateful.

Thanks again for your brilliant work.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your comments and suggestions. Cube errors have been on our radar for a while now. We have inklings of all sorts of projects, such as a Pro version of the app that will allow for input/editing/analysis of positions, among other advanced features. However, it requires reworking much of the way the app currently works, so it isn't an easy task.

Thanks for the quick reply. This is just what I wanted to hear. Put my name down for the pro version. Very exciting!
Cheers,

Hi

This is a great app but i miss the possibility to setup a position that could be put on analysis. It would make this app perfect!

I've been using this app on a kindle fire for about a week now. Overall, I think it's a fabulous game! But I have some feature requests too:

I'd like to second the request for a way to analyze matches. I seem to prefer playing without a tutor or hints, then afterwords go back and see what I did wrong.

I'd like an option to change the aspect ratio of the board. On the kindle, it's squashed down and I find somewhat disorientating to play on it compared to a normal backgammon board.

In tutor mode, I'd rather it waited until after I doubled, didn't double, or passed-to tell me I made a mistake. Likewise with checkerplay, I wish it would wait until I click on dice (to finalize my move) to tell me I was wrong.

It'd be nice to be able to set up multiple player 'accounts'. That way one could get separate statistics for a player not using hints or tutor mode, versus one using hints...to get a feel for one's true skill. Also, different people could have their own ratings.

Anyway...this app is very, very nice, and I hope you don't think I'm complaining. Im just requesting.

Hi I have a couple of small feature requests:
1. Please itemize the cube and move errors at the end of game dialog.
Currently the itemized stats is only available under the statistics menu, and I do access it after each online play. Problem is that I lose the ability to offer a rematch, because it is not accessible while the game end dialog is showing.
2. Also, if possible, please further itemize cube errors to Offer errors and Take/No-Take errors.

These are simple requests.

I would also like to mention that I would pay extra (in-app purchase) for much more complex feature: the ability to walkthrough a completed match to view errors and alternative moves displayed and animated on the board (similar to analyzing a match in gnubg which is currently tedious process requiring the export and import of match files to the desktop pc).

I came across this review of NJ on youtube. I like the way the backgammon board looks here, much better than it looks o the kindle fire. It would be great to have this option for the kindle.

qwerty, did you get the email we sent you a few days ago?

The YouTube video is showing BGNJ on an iPad. The iPad has a screen size of 1024x768 pixels, or a 1:1.33 aspect ratio.

The Kindle Fire has a screen size of 1024x600 pixels, or a 1:1.71 aspect ratio. This makes the board more wide than it is tall.

Our boards are actually hand-drawn for each specific screen size. This allows the graphics to look as sharp and clear as possible for each screen. Thus, it's currently not possible for us to change the aspect ratio unless the board is redrawn from scratch. In most cases, users prefer that the board fills their screen so that it is displayed as large as possible. Also, some tablets (such as the Nook) require apps to fill the screen in order to be approved for sale on their app store. Because of these and other reasons, our boards are generally drawn to fit the screen of each tablet.
