| You find yourself viewing a HOMESTUCK-BASED ROLEPLAYING COMMUNITY with EXCLUSIVITY to ensure a CLOSE-KNIT group of friends to write, interact, and laugh with. There is a certain amount of DEDICATION and LITERACY required, but overall, the intention is primarily to HAVE FUN and MAKE CLOSE FRIENDS through the fandom. BEYOND ELECTRIC DREAMS runs along a LINEAR storyline. There are both TRADITIONAL and CHAT-BASED styles of roleplaying available; both are expected of the members accepted. While great CHARACTERIZATION is encouraged foremost, excellent WRITING ABILITY will be standard. While we do not accept original characters, elaborate HEADCANONS and CRACK ROLEPLAYS are welcomed, and even ENCOURAGED! Many characters are currently OPEN for application, as the entire forum has recently been REDONE - with a new SKIN, new RULES, new IDEAS, and MORE - allowing for NEW MEMBERS and MORE ROLEPLAYS. | HOME | FAQ | RULES | CHARACTER LIST | REGISTER | |

YOUR WRITING: I. A certain level of maturity is demanded at BED. If you have an aversion to foul language, themes of a sexual nature, sopor slime use/abuse, or violence, kindly go back from whence ye came. II. Likewise, we have certain standards of writing. There are multiple spell-checkers strewn across the internet; they're not contraband. An occasional mistake in a post here or there is not the end of the world. Please write to the best of your ability. If you fail to do so, you will probably experience an extremely grueling application process, social exclusion, being shunned, et cetera. III. Do not type solely in quirks, even in dialogue. Quirks are a written thing only. This includes making Sollux's lisp blatantly obvious (in thutch wayth ath thith) or deliberately typing out Roxy's typos. If it's habitual and expected, do not type it. It is acceptable only under certain circumstances, such as if a character has a mouthful of food or if someone is especially drunk and slurring terribly. IV. Don't worry - we're not elitist assholes, we promise. We just like a little more structure and knowledge than what is offered on Zingled. If you know Homestuck and you can write at least semi-decently, you're sure to be accepted promptly. V. Keep your tenses consistent, just like your English teachers tell you to do. It is preferable that you write in past tense. VI. The minimum word count is 200 words and if you have to bitch about this one you MIGHT BE IN THE WRONG PLACE? The only exception to this is when doing a mini-RP in the memo board, or when something is exceptionally cracky AND in the crack subforum. YOUR CHARACTER: I. You are allowed to apply for / RP as up to three characters at any time, as long as you can handle them all. You may choose from any of the characters in the comic - to a certain extent. There isn't really a need for 'Mindless Derse Carapace Soldier #4' in the forum, but there is definitely room for a Clubs Deuce or Dad, should you want to apply for them! II. Characters such as Nanna / Jane, or Roxy / Mom are canonically the same, but in different universes. As such, they are treated as separate characters. If you RP Roxy, you do not automatically RP Mom as well, and vice-versa. The same applies to ancestors. III. Characterization is absolutely beautiful. There is nothing more important on this site than being able to encompass every facet of your character's being and to play them out as such. It would be wise to choose characters that you LOVE to play, because it might be a little difficult for you to commit to one (let alone three) that you don't have a passion for emulating. Using their typing quirks when in Pesterchum/Trollian is mandatory, but we want you to deepen the connection a little more! When you write using your character, please make sure it's a correct analysis of how they would react to a situation! Make an effort to show how Feferi is good-hearted and kind, but not willing to back down; don't try to give us a Dave that is a wimpy little bitch inclined to show his every feeling. IV. As for shipping, you're free to ship your character with whomever you'd like in whatever quadrant you'd like! Just make sure you check it over with the person playing them, of course. Crack pairings are a little weird, but if that's what you agree to, then WHATEVA MAYN. V. Character age/maturity is often skewed in roleplaying because I guess Andrew Hussie didn't know his target demographic would be college students with too much fucking time on their hands, lol. No, I kid, I kid. We know the actual ages of the characters are set in stone, but we're really lenient as to how you portray them. Most people tend to ignore the issue altogether and just sort of roleplay them at an indiscernible age past their given ones. We honestly don't care what you choose to do, and it may vary between threads based on what is established (or not established). YOUR APPLICATION: I. You must include a paragraph or two for your character's personality, as well as their physical description. These do have a point; without them, it's hard to discern whether or not you'll be able to emulate the character well. Further, it helps the other roleplayers learn more about the character they'll be with in threads! After that, you merely respond to one of the prompts given, in character, third person. That's it. Provide as much or as little as you think you need to give us the best grasp of your character. We don't like to see lists of quirks and other unnecessary bullshit that people already know about Homestuck. We like to see great writing style and knowledgeable use of character traits! II. If you fuck up your application a little, we will mark it as "pending" and offer you tips as to how you could re-evaluate what you have done. This is by no means a denial: it means we like it, and we want you, but there are just certain irksome tidbits that need to be rectified. It's probably just because you accidentally or mistakenly attributed something to the character that seems a little off. Grounds for this classification: erroneous grammar or usage of English language but nothing beyond repair, not a strong enough example of character, incorrect characterization, too eerily on target with something someone else has written (i.e. you copied and pasted the character from MSPA wiki). III. If you fuck up the application incomprehensibly, we will reject your application with a flat-out NO. That means no trying again. That means get the fuck off the web site, you're making it dirty. Grounds for doing this are: irreparable bastardization of character, unforgivably bad usage of English language, just being horrible in general. This does not happen often, so don't be scared. IV. If you are denied for one character or someone else's application concurrently bests yours, feel free try out for any other character! In fact, we encourage it. V. Please register with only one chumhandle/trolltag before you post your applications! Makes things so much easier for us. VI. Should two (or more) people attempt to apply for the same character when there is only one spot left, a strife will occur. Both parties will initially be given however much time they need to complete their application; however, once the first person involved in the strife posts their finished application, the other strifing member(s) have exactly three days before final judgement will begin. During the time in which all parties must complete their application, feel free to make as many alterations and additions to your application as you want. Basically, do what you feel shows your best writing and characterization. VII. Applications in a strife will be reviewed and judged more harshly than normal applications. If you plan on applying and you'll be involved in a strife, then you might as well try to get to got tiger if you want to win! If you lose the strife, don't be discouraged. You are more than welcome to go for a different character, although you will have to apply for him / her like you did before. VIII. There are no waiting lists. There are no reservations. There are no spot-holdings. If you have filled your max of three characters and decide to give one up, you must wait a week before submitting another application for a different character. This is to keep things fair, and to keep people from just applying for whoever they want when they feel like it, then dropping the character as they see fit. YOUR ROLEPLAYING: I. Be reasonably active. If you can't come online for a few days, no big, but if you exceed two weeks without warning I'll be forced to put your character(s) up for grabs again. That said, if you aren't able to post for an extended period of time, you can tell an admin. If no admin are around for any reason, there's a special thread just for absence notices. II. When asking someone to RP with you, please do not be a massive dick about it. If you are being bothered by someone, contact an admin immediately. Likewise, if you are the one bothering others, expect to get a severe warning and / or punishment, depending on the problem. Sexual content is fine, just make sure everyone involved is okay with it! III. If you have finished with an RP, let an admin know, and we will happily lock your thread for you! Finished RPs will remain in their original spot for a week, then will be moved to archives. There is a thread for listing finished RPs as well, in case anyone feels like rereading them at any time. YOUR BEHAVIOR: I. BE NICE. There's no reason to h8, here, everyoooooooone. You don't necessarily have to be a bucket (o gog) full of sunshine, but don't outright insult anyone or try to make them feel bad. Sarcasm is welcome, just don't be a douchebag. II. Be mature. This shouldn't need explanation. The majority of the age group here also tends to be centered in college, and if you can't deal with that type of crowd, you probably should look for another forum. III. Seriously, be active. Consider that a final warning. -------------------- ![]() |
