JADE HARLEY
PERSONALITY
Imagine the happiest person you know, then triple it and you’ve got Jade. Jade is a very cheerful person, always willing to spam her friends with lots of smiley faces and exclamation points. She’s always there to listen to someone, and offer some sort of advice that usually makes zero sense to anyone but her. She’s also very caring, going great lengths in order to help her friends, like when she sacrifices her Dream Self in order to save John’s.
Jade isn’t the coolkid, but if need be, she can keep her cool under all sorts of pressure; it takes a lot to make her crack and flip the fuck out (i.e. past and future Karkat fighting in a memo, or Jadesprite’s constant crying). Unless you push her buttons the wrong way, she can keep a cool exterior and act as though everything is okay, even if it isn’t. Even if things look like the can’t get any better, she always looks on the brighter side of things, never letting anything ruin her mood.
Due to Vriska’s use of her powers, Jade also suffers from
nacrolepsy. She is unaware of her nacrolepsy, and often times she will pass out in the middle of something important, which makes things even more complicated than they already were. She is known to sleep for at least twenty hours a day, only waking up when she is ‘good and ready'. This caused problems for others, because her dream self was pretty dumb and usually screwed things up more than they should’ve been.
Because Jade grew up on an isolated island for her entire life, her knowledge involving anything with the outside world is very limited. Even though she knows little to nothing about the real world, when it comes to things involving her friends, she knows a lot due to the images she sees in the Skaian clouds. It’s believed by her friends that she is some sort of psychic because she can predict some things down to the minute, but she is no psychic. She can’t explain it, she just knows what she knows.
Jade also has a philosophy that everyone should carry no less than five computers on them at all times. You will never catch her without a computer. Never.
DESCRIPTION
Much like John, Jade has black hair and wears glasses. She has bright green eyes, and her hair falls all the way down her back, and is rather thick and difficult to manage. Seeing as how she’s only thirteen years old, her build is the same as any other kid her age. She’s short, around maybe five feet tall, and she’s slim from running around the island all of the time in search of Bec.
Jade’s outfits are always changing. She has a wardrobifier that allows the symbols on her shirt to change, but after getting into Sburb, she prefers the outfits that she alchemized (Dead Shuffle dress, Dress of Eclectica, and her Three in the Morning dress) with the occasional warm fuzzy squiddlejacket and squiddlesneaks.
HEADCANON
Well, I’m going to admit it right now, I ship Dave/Jade pretty hard. But! This doesn’t mean that I’m not open to anything else! So don’t be afraid to ask! =D
Seeing as how Jade was basically raised by a
dog, I play her so that when it comes to things such as pop culture or recent things going on in the media, she has no idea what’s going on or what anyone is talking about (Like I stated in the personality section).
INFORMATION ABOUT YOU
Hey there! O: I’m Kai! I’m seventeen, and I’ve been roleplaying for about six years now, maybe? I recently got into roleplaying Homestuck and I love it, so obviously I had to join here. I’m pretty much online every day, but chances are I won’t be able to write replies until the weekends ‘cause of homework and whatnot, but I will definitely try to get them done! Um, I’m on MSN at puckgirlri@hotmail.com, and if anyone’s got gmail, heylookitsbaker@gmail.com. Anddd I think that’s pretty much it!
PROMPT RESPONSE
What is one strong memory that has stuck with your character from childhood? Why is it so powerful and lasting?
With a rather large yawn, Jade stretched out beside her friends. They were here to relax, and quite frankly, she was a-okay with that. After the stress of breeding frogs and having to make sure that everything went just right so their universe didn’t turn out to be a terrible thing, she was all for taking a day to relax and unwind from Sburb.
That was, until, she saw a lake nearby.
”Can we go swimming?!” She asked enthusiastically. The fact that she hadn’t gone swimming in what was probably five years never crossed her mind. ”It’d be so much fun! We can play games, too!”
”Do you even know how to swim, Harley? Because I find it hard to believe that your devilbeast dog was able to teach you how to do that.” Jade turned on Dave, eyes narrowed into slits as she glared at him.
”Duh, Dave! Of course I know how to swim! I used to sneak off and go swimming while Bec wasn’t paying attention! He would get so mad.” Jade giggled, remembering this situation very well. One day, when she was younger, Bec had been sleeping. She’d only been swimming once before, and that was under his watchful eye, and she wanted to go on her own. With Bec being so protective, however, it was nearly impossible for her to get out of the house without him noticing and bringing her back. So, she snuck out.
She remembered how nice it felt swimming in the clear water, soaking up the Sun’s rays and just enjoying life. Due to her being the only one on the island, it was pretty quiet save for the occasional frog croaking or any other animal noises. She’d swum for what was probably ten minutes, before Bec showed up. She didn’t have her glasses on, but she didn’t need to see to know that Bec was not happy.
”Hi, Bec!” The jig was up. Just like that, it was back to her bedroom until the next time she tried to sneak out. Needless to say, every attempt after that had been a failure. To this day, she half expected him to show up and keep her from doing any type of activities near the water. Call it paranoia, but that dog knew how to keep a girl wary.
"He was very protective of me! I kinda miss him..." Jade frowned. It was weird how all four of them had lost their guardians. John's dad and Rose's mom had been killed by Jack. And so had Dave's brother. Only her guardian hadn't died, but she supposed that having Bec prototype himself with Jack was better than having him be killed. Either way, though, she knew that he was always protecting her to the best of his ability, and she loved him for it, mass murderer or not.
Good dog.
Best friend.
(Ahh, this looks so much shorter than it did in my Word document. ;_; If I need to add more, let me know!)
