I remember someone at the C&O table said that they tried to register for the forums before and never got an e-mail. Apparently you need to get approved by an admin to get that e-mail. Is there any way we could change that? Maybe we leave only a few forums open to posting (just introductions?) and have the "General" area open to reading for anyone not yet approved.

These forums are pretty dead. Maybe it'd help a bit if newcomers could actually post...

I can fix permissions. The reason we switched to having to approve members is because of spambots.

There is currently no one in the queue needing an approval for an account.
And I just checked permissions and everyone can read the forums, you just can't post unless you're a member or in the validating group (people waiting to be approved). Guests are not allowed to post because they could be spambots and that leaves a bunch of stuff we'd have to go around and delete. Damn spambots, lol.
