you only suppose so?
    well, that's a bit unnecessarily self-deprecating.
you're not horrible, you're just. . .oh who am I kidding not very good.
oh. eh heh. that was you?
what can I say, when I hit a bludger, I hit it hard,
at friends and foes alike. unless, of course, you're on the slytherin team. I don't aim
for teammates, for all the obvious reasons.
but, hey, if it makes you feel better, your gryffindor beaters
have knocked me around more than once.
I'd certainly like to see it. did he write a note along with it?
you know, "to alice, with love" etc.?
you could probably sell that for quite a bit of cash, you know.
if only I had your problem. my nails grow at an unnatural rate.
    it's really rather annoying, actually.
so, what've you been up to lately, anyway?
besides failing potions and ace-ing every other subject?

okay, okay, i know so, felan
    or so you say.
.. which is another way of saying i'm horrible. c'mon, just admit it.
i need to stick to wandwork.
    yes, it was meeee. thanks.
but i forgive you - it's all a part of the game.
well, that's just wrong to hit your own teammates.
goes against code. well. honor-y code!
    i know. i love our beaters. ;D
but poor me! you whomped on me so badly last year.
maybe it's because you thought i was cute? waitnevermind
    he said,
"to my favorite employee's daughter. may she
either have a successful career in quidditch or the ministry
    - love hamish"
my dad works for him. so.
tee hee, i'll ask my dad to send it so you can see it.
i can see that you're jealous.
    i even hugged him.
maybe you should start biting them?
actually, don't. it's a bad habit. don't want to influence you.
oh, well, i'm not failing potions too bad. i can do all the essays we get assigned. but i am .. failing. sadly.
i've been trying to figure out whether i should go to hogsmeade next time around.
i should do my christmas shopping.
and since we're now .. note buddies, you're getting a gift from me.

now that's more reassuring:
pft, I'll never admit it. it'd be hypocritical.
hmm, wandwork can be such a drag, though - about the only things i've truly mastered
are finding my socks in the morning and summoning a passable patronus.
and maybe, on a good day, a cheering charm. they're so very useful.
code? hardly, the reason I don't hit my own team is 'cos then we would probably lose.
and, as we've already discussed, losing is never fun.
a good deal of my team really deserves to be hit by a bludger every now and again,
'specially that vincent fellow. black's an alright guy, though. ( the younger, not the elder.
the day I say sirius is an alright guy, the world might explode. )
you love your beaters? funny, I can't stand them. guess that's natural though.
I'm sorry. had I known it was you. . . well, I wouldn't have hit you any less hard,
but I would've visited you in the hospital wing.
    or at least sent flowers.
quidditch or the ministry? hopefully you're going for the former rather than the latter.
what exactly are you planning on being?
yes, I certainly am jealous, though not of hugging him ew, I'm not gay, kthnx.
not sure I could stomach it. where do bitten nails go, anyway?
    do you swallow or spit?
& you'll get one from me as well, of course.
hogsmeade's the greatest. don't know what I'd do if we didn't get our little outings there.
    firewhiskey, for the win.

i'd hope so, felan
okay, then. i'll admit it for you.
wandwork is wonderful. i love charms.
helps that i think i'm number one or two in the class ..
    eheheh.
well. maybe you should let me
bash them over the head for you.
because honestly, most of them get on my nerves.
except for regulus - he's not that bad.
and neither is sirius! that's my duck-chasing compadre, i have to say.
it's natural, dear. very natural, i suppose.
actually, i think you did send something ..?
    it was a get-well note, i think.
said that you were glad i didn't die and that you're not going to azkaban.
    .. it was almost sweet.
well. i think i'm going into the ministry. quidditch is totally my second choice.
passion. but i think it's a ministry job for me.
i'll ask my dad to get something from him then.
maybe i'll make it a part of your christmas gift.
..... oh uhm. i think i do both. i think you just ruined my brain though. very wrong there but i think i like it?
    firewhiskey's not too bad.
we should go to hogsmeade together and find presents.
    and possibly some firewhiskey.

want your chinese fortune for the day?
'you will loose something of great value.'
hmm. wonder what that's supposed to mean?
har, try adding 'in bed' on to the end of THAT one.
    . . .
    number one or two?
    well, there goes my self-esteem.
you're welcome to try a hand at it, though I've gotta warn you,
they're all fairly capable when it comes to beating short gryffindors up.
duck-chasing compadre? sirius? duck? you've lost me there.
oh. oh, right, I'd almost forgotten.
I do tend to feel a bit guilty after I've bludgered someone particularly hard.
    no remaining scars, I hope?
you can do much better than the ministry. they're all a bunch of twats muggle lovers
over-intelligent people who flaunt said intelligence.
i think you /know/ you like it
that sounds like fun; I've got to warn you, though,
I tend to spend too much time in the joke shop and drink more firewhiskey than
    is strictly necessary.

what the ....? felan, you're odd
shouldn't that be the other variation of the word?
    lose?
oh boy, i used to do that when i got those strange fortunes
... i'm sorry! i could help you out.
    charms is very fun.
and be quiet - you're smart.
    ... short .. gryffindors?
    ohwaitthat'sme.
uhm. at least tell me you'll come and save me?
although that probably wouldn't work out too well.
sorry, i tend to lose people like that.
oh no! stupid fortune's coming true.
    i'm losing you!
    ... okay, not really, right?
well, i don't think i'm overly intelligent. i am, however, overly crazy.
    yeah, i do. WAITDONTSAYANYTHING.
oh, don't worry. the joke shop
is really amusing. but i've broken things in there.
... hey, if i broke out into song,
    d'you think mcgonagall would
    a - kill me,
b - give me detention, or
c - throw galleons at me because i'm fabulous?
hahahaha i'm such a horrible liar

who's odd, now?
possibly. perhaps we should lodge a complaint with china
for making spelling errors in its fortunes?
charms is not so fun. maybe it's an acquired taste. I barely managed an E in that
and the only reason I bothered trying was because it's rather necessary
to charm dragons when you're trying to get them to hold still. though, personally,
I've always felt that using a cheering charm on them would be much more humane.
though cheerful dragons can be just as dangerous as non-cheerful ones
when there's fresh meat involved or eggs to protect.
sure, I'll come save you. wouldn't want you to perish at the hands of my quidditch team.
no, not really. poor choice of words, I should've said 'confused'.
overly crazy could be considered a good thing. plenty of crazy people did great things.
    like. . .
. . .well, I can't really think of any crazy historical figures right now, but I'm sure there were some.
probably C. judging by the bored look on her face, I'm thinking she could use a little
    entertainment in her life.
not to mention you breaking out into song in the middle of this class
would certainly be a sight to see.

i think you are, felan
hm, sounds like a plan to me.
i'll write, you tell me what to say.
well, see! you're not bad, then. you can do it.
ooh, you plan on becoming a dragon tamer?
i've always been fascinated with animals - magical and non magical.
a cheering charm would be much more humane, you're right.
just make sure they don't eat you.
that would stink. i'd lose a good friend and a flirty one too.
i don't want to perish either. your teammates are frighteningly larger than i am.
i would be squished faster than you could say .. well. anything.
'confused' is much better. thank you.
i hope it's a good thing. i don't know if i'll ever outgrow this quirky side of me.
... c? hm. yeah, she does look a little bored right now.
    think i should do it?
if i do, you should give me something for it.

but you're the one who's admitted to being crazy:
sounds like a deal to me.
though, to be fair, translating from chinese to english can't be an easy task.
even with the help of magic. lose and loose are but an O apart, after all.
I hope to be. dragons, along with quidditch, have always been something
I've been infinitely curious about, but I'd choose dragons over quidditch
simply because I can't wait to get away from England someday.
oh, I'm sure they'll like me. I've been told I can be very charming when I try.
don't worry, if you were squished I'd drag you to the hospital wing
and madame pomfrey could have you unsquished in no time, I'm sure.
    I like the quirkiness.
certainly makes my classes more amusing.
I dare you to do it.
hmm. something - can it be anything?
a few ideas rise to mind.

true, felan
    all right, then.
    well. true. ergh. darn.
time to go learn some chinese, though.
it'd be nice to learn just in case.
ah, england. but i do like london.
i plan on living somewhere in it.
    it's easier.
but all the bad things tend to happen in london.
    darn.
just as long as they like you and you don't lose you head.
( i almost put loose, oh dear )
oh, thank you. at least i feel better about that.
i'm glad they make them more amusing.
    so. i'll do it.
but you have to tell me what i get if i do.
and yeah, it can be anything.
what do you have in mind?

i win. biggrin.gif
personally, I've always fancied learning french.
bit more simple than chinese, I'd imagine, but then, I don't have anything to write to france about.
london's very nice, but too many damn muggles but a bit too crowded for me. I'd just like to get away.
    far. far. away.
my head is already a bit loose, unfortunately ( not lost yet, though - thankfully ).
well, perhaps I could buy you a record or two?
just list the bands, I can write to my maid to send them.
she's a lovely old lady, always running errands for me. parents despise her though. she's a squib.
but she does her job right, so she's stayed on - anyway -
or, if you'd rather not music,
perhaps loads of chocolate will do?

damn you, felan
    really?
i know a little german from my mum.
i see. i love crowded cities like london.
    so much to do.
but i understand - one day i'll go somewhere
    really exotic.
    that's a bit sad, there! i don't think it's loose. ( or is it? )
well, a record or two would be nice.
there's a beatles record missing from my collection.
and maybe something from that band, queen?
    they're quite interesting.
although the chocolate sounds really tempting.
    hm.
    i'll go with the music.
okay. i'll do this. here i go.

. . . scratch that. you definitely win.
    that performance is certainly deserving
of at /least/ records and chocolates, and probably a standing ovation, too.
sucks about your detention, though. perhaps I'll orchestrate some way
to hop in there with you? after all, I made the dare, wouldn't be entirely
fair of me to let you rot in there alone, with only the promise
of beatles and food for company.
    to be perfectly honest,
I think mcgonagall really enjoyed that. she's probably going to go
back to her office singing or some such similar monumental event.
maybe your little skit has put her in such a good mood,
she'll run dumbledore down and kiss him in the hallway.
I've always thought those two were meant to be.
    little do i know he's GAY. ohmy.gif

see, now why can't you be like me, felan?
    well, thank you.
    i'm so embarrassed now.
that was the first time i've ever sang in front of people.
    nerve-wracking, i tell you!
    really.
but thank you for giving me both things.
    that's nice of you.
    and please! do something.
detention is boring if you're by yourself.
maybe you should transfigure someone's desk into an animal?
    maybe a monkey.
that'll be a hassle to catch.
    i'll help you out?
i think she's plenty happy now that i did that.
look, can you see her going back to her desk?
i swear she's trying not to skip.
    see, see, see!
well, maybe. i don't know, dumbledore
seems content without a woman or a man for that matter!
    so, c'mon.
    was i really horrible?

I quite enjoy being myself, thanks;
you certainly looked plenty confident up there.
can't say I'd be quite so self-assured in the same situation,
but you pulled it off well.
I think some younger twats in the back are swooning.
I'm not entirely sure that I could manage a monkey -
    how about a snake?
that should set some people off. very representative of my house, too.
though I myself am not particularly fond of snakes.
don't get me wrong, lizards are my thing, but snakes?
too slimy. well, never mind the snake. . .a pig should do.
    dare me?
I'm not so certain that was a skip, I think she was trying not to trip on the
floor tile; but hey, whatever floats your boat.
maybe mcgonagall has harbored lifelong dreams of being a musical theatre
star, and your performance has allowed her to imagine,
    if only for a minute,
that her transfiguration class is actually little more than a scene in a play?
