your final year ;
Harry Potter was born in the year 1980, but that's not where we want to be. No, let's go back further. Here is where we want to be. It's March of the year 1978, dolls. The infamous Marauders are in their seventh & final year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry; the first war against the Dark Lord is about to begin. The Hogwarts students are joined by some guests this year. What role will you play & where will you end up?
It's all in your hands now.

WELCOME TOLiteracy - ASPHYXIATED is a “literate” site. We are fully aware that the dictionary definition states that a person’s level of literacy depends on their reading and writing levels, however, that isn’t exactly what we mean. Here, we expect all our members to know how to type with proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling as well.
Yeah, good luck with getting through this 'cause I like to babble.
Post Length – Assuming that -since you’re still interested in this forum after reading the first rule- you are literate, post length shouldn’t be a problem for you. Each in character posts should be at least three (six-eight sentence) paragraphs at the least. Feel free to go much longer, but keep in mind the fact that most people don’t want to sit here all day just reading one post. Okay, maybe I’m exaggerating, but you get my point, right? Not too long, not too short. We –heart- details but too much of it can –and will- bore us.
Mary-sues/Gary-stues – We cannot put into words just how much we dislike Mary-sues/Gary-stues. If you are not aware of the meaning of the terms, let me make it simple: We, the admin, absolutely abhor perfect characters; however, you may make your characters think they are perfect. We have nothing against that. After all, being perfect and thinking you’re perfect are two very different things. One, you’re just plain annoying while the other, you’re a conceited ass. :]
Labels - Just one thing about this particular subject: Try to avoid stereotypes, alright? Make your character unique & don't just give us the typical two-dimensional description.
Power-playing – First of all, if you are literate, we shouldn’t be reminding you of this. Power-playing is definite no-no here in ASPHYXIATED. Why? Simple. It’s freakin’ annoying. There’s a reason it’s called roleplaying, y’know. You only play one character and that’s pretty much it. Remember: roleplaying is interactive story telling.
Good: He threw the god damn pillow in her direction.
Bad: He threw the pillow and it hit her ugly face.
Get it? Got it? Good.
God-moding – This is yet another pet peeve of ours. No student in this school can be some all powerful ruler, alright? Most of you will probably play someone in their teenage years, therefore, you really can’t be some invincible person. Your character can and most likely will get hurt. Why? Well, because we want this to be at least a bit realistic. Seriously. If someone’s character throws a punch at your character, we doubt that the character will miss a kajillion times. It’s in human nature to get injured, hurt, whatever you want to call it.
Romance – Romance will be permitted here in ASPHYXIATED. Hell. It’d probably be broken if we made a rule against romance anyway. However, if you think there will be some events in your thread not suitable for the eyes of a thirteen-year-old, put a rating either in the title or topic description. Maybe something like: [18+] or [16+]. It doesn’t matter how you label it, as long as you do.
Chatspeak – Since you are literate, you should know how to spell properly. Chatspeak gives us headaches, be it in or out of character. We know some people get lazy and all, so do we, but there will be absolutely no chat-speak on the site. Well, fine. In your private messages, go ahead. Just not where we can see. Figuring out what you have to say is simple, but really. Things would be a lot easier on the eyes if everyone spelled correctly. You spend about six hours a day in school learning who knows what so you might as well put it to use.
Fighting&&Killing – Just one thing about this: Do not kill each other’s characters. Simple as that. No arguments. We don’t think we need to remind you not to kill each other since there isn’t a very high chance of that happening. Hopefully. Fights between characters are alright. After all, a war is about to begin between 'good' and 'evil'. Okay, wait, let's rephrase this. Killing will be fine. . .just run it through the admins first, understood?
Arguments - Fights between characters are fine. Fights between roleplayers, however, are definitely not permitted here. If there is an argument, please don’t blow your tops and just start a fight between each other. Send one of the admins a private message so that it can be settled.
Ooc Posts – When posting Out Of Character, please indicate it with either ooc, brackets, braces, parenthesis, or whatever it is you use. The only exception would be when you’re posting in the Out of Character threads/boards. Do not post out of character at the in-character threads/boards unless you’ve typed something in character as well. If you are just posting in that in-character thread to correct something in your previous posts, don’t. That’s what the ‘edit’ button is for.
Usernames – When making your usernames, please refrain from using symbols other than a comma and numbers. Use the first and last name of your characters. Last names are in all capital letters and first names are all lowercase. Middle names are a no-no as well. The space bar and shift key are your friends. Use them. If you so happened to make a username before reading the rules and did it wrong, PM one of the admins to change it for you. Don't just make a new one.
Good: POTTER, james
Multiple Characters - Honestly, we don't care how many characters you have on here. Just make sure that you make a separate account for each one AND they're all active. Any characters inactive for two weeks or longer without a reasonable excuse will be deleted. BUT, just for now we will only allow up to five characters, no exceptions. Basically, if you make a female character, your next must be a male. If you make a male, your next can be female, 'mmkay?
Absences - We created a forum just for absences so we do expect it to be used. If you are going to be gone for a period of time, please post it up there or inform one of the admins so that you won't be deleted. Inactivity for over two weeks without a reasonable excuse will result in your character's deletion. [is that even a word?] The only warning you will receive would be an e-mail after a week of absence. Also, we will have activity checks every two weeks. Be sure you post there when it's up.
Applying - You will have three days to finish an application, starting from the first time it's posted. If it isn't finished, it will be placed in the denied section and you can just try again some other time or ask one of the admins to move it for you. You cannot apply for a character that you've applied for and have been denied, sorry. But, we'll try to work with you once, up to two times for you to get your application right before we deny. By the way, at the end of your application, please put "adminedit. c:" under the section that asks "Anything else?".
Maturity - Please make sure that you're mature enough for this site. No, this does not mean that characters will be "going at it" in every single thread[at least, we hope they wouldn't be], but knowing roleplayers nowadays, some do get to that point. As much as we will try to make sure all threads that go past the whole PG-13 thing is labeled, we may miss a few and there's a possibility of you stumbling upon one. For that reason, we ask you to be mature enough. Not necessarily in years, but at least in thinking.
Since you're still here, I assume you survived. Good for you. C:
