Yet, that is not to say that she is always a pessimist, she can be actually quite the opposite. She attempts to look on the bright side of things, though she will be the first one to point out just how bad a situation is. Blunt and to the point might be the best way to describe her as she doesn't like to give roundabout answers, and prefers the fact of the matter. Jumping around the subject will do nothing but piss her off. Though Feisty, Sarcastic, Passionate, Caring are all but a few of the others words that can also describe her. In plain form, she is a firecracker, the type of woman that keeps you guessing what exactly is going on in her head. You can think she's going to do one thing, but she can turn around and surprise you. However, she is not the reckless sort, she tends to know exactly what she's doing and how to accomplish it, she always has a reason for what she does. Overbearing at times, though, she does also tend to be sarcastic and bossy and often has a habit of telling people what to do. Although, she tries to avoid being so as it does tend to turn people off. However, she can also be rather kind to people she deems as friends and the like. Naturally, she's passionate at anything she does, and overly protective of loved ones. Not only that, she has a wicked and witty, and sometimes twisted, sense of humor. Definitely not one to be shy, she's the last person to be abashed at anything she does. Nor is she afraid to get her hands dirty. However, she is quite the loner, preferring to inch her way out of places if there's too many people around or if she's the center of attention. Not that she's afraid, it just tends to be that she can't stand to be around fakes and gold diggers, which consist of much of those that she has to unfortunately hang around. It probably doesn't help that she doesn't trust people easily, and doesn't want people to get close to her, a slight phobia of having to deal with losing them because if she gets attached, she finds herself getting too attached. && the past is hard to forget +history mother� Maria Bertinelli (Deceased) father� Anthony Garcia siblings� None other� Alfredo Bertinelli - Grandfather (Mother's Side) brief history� Born of a politician and a mafia boss's daughter, Helena's upbringing was a rather... colorful one to say the least, especially on her mother's side. Helena's mother, Maria, was born into a large family of mobsters, known as the Bertinelli's. Though unlike those that were renown for causing havoc amongst Gotham, they were known to go and try to stop those that were corrupt, a countervailing force of sorts. No drugs, no taking advantage of the poor, they were the robin hoods of the gangsters, tried of being taken advantage of from a corrupt society they saw unfolding more and more each passing year. Of course that's not to say their record wasn't clean of blood in the slightest. On the contrary, they were known for their dirty work of taking down those that opposed everything they believed in, no matter what it meant. However, despite the bad reputation of the family, it didn't stop her father or her mother from meeting and eventually getting married, with Helena on the way not too long afterwards. Even though, however, Anthony attested to what Maria's father Alfredo's way of dealing with corruption, there was a sort of way of there was a sort of understanding and respect and Helena was never stopped from seeing her other half of her family. It was often that she went off to Italy with her mother, to Sicily where the family had owned a farm and some of their relatives resided. A not totally quiet place to be, at least with Helena there, as a small rambunctious child, she often got scolded there for not acting like such a soon-to-be young lady should have. Most of her older relatives were rather religious and still believed in repression of woman, that their only place should have been at a man's side and as child bearers, the complete opposite of what her father believed in. However, even so, Helena wasn't alone really when she went there, in fact she would meet a person named Salvador that would be like an older adopted brother to her. Practically taking her under his wing he would later teach her valuable lessons, along with her tutor Justina, that would stick with her for the rest of her life. However, a drastic turn would come in her life at the age of eight. While attending a wedding in Gotham, her mother's family was gunned down by another mob, who wanted to stop whatever 'good' they were doing. The only person left alive was Helena, who watched her mother bleed to death. She was spared by a man that came and ripped her cross from around her neck as a sick memento of his charade. Whatever faith she had was torn, ripped from her has he took ripped her mother's cross away from her. Thankfully, her father hadn't attended, nor Sal which probably stopped her from being alone, though the damaged was done. Her mother was gone and there wasn't anything to do to bring her back. Not only that, but it wasn't just those Bertinellis that were murdered, Bertinellis from Italy, Chicago and everywhere else that were related were murdered as well, leaving Helena as the sole heiress of the combined fortune of the Bertinelli family, an approximate amount of 3 Billion dollars all together. Her father kept her in Gotham, however, despite the fact that Helena didn't feel safe at first, trying to raise her as best he could with Maria then gone, also afraid that something might happen to her with the newfound amount of money that Helena would eventually inherit upon her twenty-first birthday. Lots of protection was in order, to make sure that in case a hit was ordered upon her, she would be fine. However, he wasn't alone in this. Sal also stood by Helena as she grew up, acting as a sort of bodyguard to ensure her safety, which also consisted of teaching her how to defend herself, teaching her how to know what criminals think and everything else he knew and wanted to pass upon to her. Without further incident, Helena would later to no longer fear for her life as the years passed, and her mother's and her family's death hung over her death. She became a stronger person, if not quite stubborn, willing to test her limits, finding them in various activities, especially furthering her studies in martial arts, especially in the Kung Fu variety, her favorite being Dragon Style . Though, it wasn't all fun and games for her and she was rather serious about getting an education and going to college. Her first career choice was to be a lawyer, to do something similar like her father, but she later decided against it after her first year.
