The subject of brainstorming seems to vary with different people. Maybe you have a preferred method. Maybe you're not a huge fan of brainstorming but try it on occasion. Maybe you just skip brainstorming all together and just write whatever comes to mind.

I pretty much fail at brainstorming. The closest I've ever gotten to really brainstorming would be writing a single word on a paper. It usually ends up with doodles that have nothing to do with anything all over the page. I obviously need to find a decent method for my poor brain.

That's where you all come in. Share your techniques with us who are less than great at this.

I actually don't brainstorm much. It tends to confuse me and seems to take the life out of things in my eyes at least. I do make character pages if I have a lot of characters in a story, just so that I can keep them straight, but that's as far as I get brainstorming wise.

I prefer to have the stories, or whatever, work itself out in my head as it plays along and I write. Sure, I get writer's block sometimes then because I imagine myself into a corner, but its funner and more of a surprise that way for me.
*shrugs*

My second grade teacher would be ashamed that I have foresaken all the plot writing and branstorming tips she pushed on us kids. tongue.gif

I usually do what Ash do, but sometimes when I am trying to fall asleep I just picture everything in my head, and I sort of thinks of new ways to continue the story ^^ and than with one idea I sometimes get another one, and another one and so on =P

I can't brainstorm really to save my life.
I day dream, a hell of a lot, and that's where all my ideas come from. I could be listening to a song, or watching a movie, or just having a conversation, and then I'd come up with an idea for a story. I don't sit down and think about it usually.
Although for my latest story I decided to write down a list of main characters, relationships and important information, just so I stay don't get mixed up later on, and don't have to read over the entire story to remember a minor character's name, or something like that.

But I suck at organisation.
I just tend to go with it and hope for the best.
