There are many places within the murky depths of the dunegons people will not tread, though if you want to get to Potions on time, are dying for that midnight snack or need to get to the Slytherin Common Room, you have no excuse but to go down there, do you?

ground floor
The Great Hall is the only place that you'll get great meals day in and day out - you'll get the odd school announcement here - see the House glasses to see how you're doing with points and finish that late piece of homework. The Entrance Hall is on the way out into the Grounds but it doesn't mean you can't stop here for a chat. You better not get caught near Mr Filch's office - he may not very smart, but his detentions are brutal to the core.

first floor
The trophy room holds all the trophies that have been awarded to students in the past, maybe you recognise an award that a certain Mr Potter and Weasley got in their second year. If you ever need a chance to Professor Krum or he just fancied calling you in for a cup of tea, you'll find him on this floor. Classroom - empty - use THIS wisely - Prefects are always on patrol.

Need a quiet place for a date? Need a place to hold a secret meeting? Running late for Transfiguration, then this is the floor you need. Oh, and watch out for a special room. Walk around three times wishing for what you want and the door to this room magically appears. Normally girls wouldn't avoid a bathroom but with the ever crying Moaning Myrtle, you might want to give this place a miss.

A wonderful bathroom for only the prefects of all Houses - you have never seen a place like this ever. Broom Closets may spark troubles but are you willing to take the risk with prefects on this floor? Did you find the passageway on the previous floor?You'd better exit here quick before you're spotted!

fifth floor
A certain Gryffindor student loves this floor and has dedicated this as her favourite place in the school - The library...Madam Pince is one strict cookie so respect her books! Corridors are handy places if you want to stop someone between classes to have a talk. Charms class is on this floor - don't forget it!

sixth floor
Not many students are brave enough to take the Arithmancy class because of a fear of it being too hard but believe us when we say that you haven't challenged yourself until you've done this class. The Hufflepuffs pretty much dominate this floor with their Common Room and they don't mind talking to anyone that comes here to say hello.

One of the most funnest and most important lessons in the school - Defence is a lesson that will teach you all you need to know to survive in the world after Hogwarts - best pay attention to Professor Krum. Gryffindors are the ones you'll find all over the seventh floor - don't be shy to give them a smile or talk...they don't bite

the towers
In the Astronomy Tower, you get to see all over Hogwarts and beyond both up and down - what a place to see the stars and have your Astronomy Lessons every Wednesday. Divination resides in the South Tower - quite a climb up to there but to some, it's worth the wake and to others, a good chance to catch up on a nap. The last of the Houses stay up in the North Tower, up in the skies with the Raven and what a perfect site for the Ravenclaw Common Room. You'll probably see many of these students sitting around outside reading or smiling to the Grey Lady that passes by most often.

school grounds
Beautiful gardens dot various spots of Hogwarts, some inside the equally enchanting - hardy har har - courtyards, while others at strange places on the grounds. Be careful, though; some of said gardens house dangerous plants. At the lake, the water is never still. It may be the wind disturbing the water surface... but it could also be the giant squid living in the water. This place is for those with a passion for the greatest sport of all-- Quidditch. Matches are held in the stadium, try-outs, as well as practice, and even those Flying Lessons taught by Madam Hooch.

hogsmeade
Hogsmeade is the only all-Wizarding village in Britain. It is near Hogwarts. Students may sometimes come to Hogsmeade on weekend trips, but only third years and older, and guardian permission is required. Hogsmeade is also the location of the train station used by the Hogwarts Express.

diagon alley
Diagon Alley is accessible to the wizarding world, to which it is something of an economic hub, but hidden from Muggles. However, Muggles are allowed access to it if they need to accompany their Muggle-born magical children. It is home to Ollivander's, makers of magic wands since 382 BC (likely the country's primary supplier), as well as the goblin-run Gringotts Bank and Madam Malkin's Robes For All Occasions. Other establishments include Flourish & Blotts bookstore, Eeylops' Owl Emporium, Quality Quidditch Supplies and The Leaky Cauldron, a famous wizarding pub and inn. For those shopping for Hogwarts equipment, Diagon Alley serves all needs.
There are other shopping areas besides Diagon Alley, including the notorious Knockturn Alley (home to mainly stores of ill repute among many wizards, such as Borgin and Burkes, which sells Dark objects and cursed items), and the village of Hogsmeade near Hogwarts.
One entrance to Diagon Alley can be reached on foot by passing through The Leaky Cauldron. The inn, invisible to Muggles, lies somewhere along the London thoroughfare Charing Cross Road. To reach Diagon Alley, one must walk up to a wall behind The Leaky Cauldron, and tap a brick, found by counting three up and two across, three times. Given the busy nature of the area, travelling to and from Diagon Alley is likely typically done by more magical means such as Apparition or by using the Floo Network.

It's built underground and really is quite an achievement - yes, even for wizards. It has a massive amount of floors and travels miles underground. You can access it if a visitor by a red telephone box in central London and Ministry officials can apparate or use floo powder.
