With every school, St. Albyn's and Robert Gordon's have social groups within the students. Each group has it's own identity, hang outs, alliances, enemies and of course, leader. To help make things easier for you, here is the information you will need to know about each of the groups:
theCHAVSThe chavs are the group from middleclass/lowerclass families essentially, meaning those that attend these private schools have either families that have come into money or their family has struck some kind of deal with the school (highly likely). As a stereotype 'Chavs' are easily aggrivated, opinionated, mouthy and at times rather arrogant. It is certainly rare for this subculture to get good press. In this school they are the kids who wear fake designer clothes (or real if their parents have money), gold jewellery, burberry patterned clothing and sports trainers (obviously this is when they are not in their respective school uniforms). They like to think they run the school and can often be the bullies, they do know (their own) right from wrong though and they stick to their morals which has to be commended. Dance/rave/hard house/ R 'n' B/grime music is very common amounst this lot. They don't tend to mix well with other groups but look out for their own and are one of the tightest of the groups.

theEMOSThe emos are a social group mainly defined by image and music tastes, although it can go deeper. Generally stereotyped as being rather gloomy and dark, although this is not always the case as with any stereotype. As an image they were a style of clothing which is a blend of goth, punk and general alternative. Both sexes can be seen wearing dark make-up mixed in with occasional bright colors. Music wise they seem to have a genre all to themselves which has taken influences from the same groups as their image. The lines are blurred with this group as their image, attitude and tastes in various mediums can vary quite a bit. In the schools they are a group which is reasonably close within itself altough there can be smaller groups of friends within which are closer to each other.

theGEEKSThe geeks are defined mainly by their behavior and mind set. Everyone knows what geeks are and know the stereotypes pretty well. They are either really clever, swotty and just generally very nerdy people. They display this vast knowledge and have tendencies to perhaps quote random things at you. There is also the kind that are super shy about this sort of things and they don't mix too well with people. Geeks can also be the people who obsess over things such as science fiction, fantasy things, various subjects like astronomy, science etc. All in all there are many forms of the geek stereotype all of which are only a basic template. They tend to have very general tastes in music and aren't exactly known for good fashion sense although their mismatched or retro fasions are idealised nowadays as 'geek chic'. As a group they are very tight knit with each other and do look out for one another. They are also one of the more likely groups to be picked on.

theJOCKSThe jocks are the sporty, trendy, 'preppy' group and tendto be fans of sport, fashions and are appealed by things like popularity. They tend to wear high street/brand fashions, hold a high importance over looking good and keeping themselves healthy. Music tastes are varied and generalised. Sterotypically vain and egotistical, although this is not always the case, they are also rather prone to bulling those they believe below them. Intelligence varies and they can be helpful to those they are allied with. As a group they are the more buisness minded and are the ones operating the swindels and big dealings. They know how to make situations work well for themselves. They are not terribly close as a group, although for face value it seems they are. Within ranks there is bitching and two-faced attitudes so it is well advised to watch your back and know who your friends are.

theRICHKIDSThe rich kids are mainly defined by their bank balances, family social standing and their liking for the finer things. They tend to come from 'old money' families and are your a-typical' private school students. They tend to wear expensive clothing and accessories and indulge in all things luxury. Even those that are 'new money' have learned the behaviour patterns of their peers. Music and other media again is generalised although it is approved of for them to be 'in the know' of what is cool and what is not. They too can be found to have good buisness minds and it is always good to have a rich kid on your side of your project needs some funding. As a group things are bitchy and very heriarchical. Everyone always believes themselves above the other but when facing opposition from enemy groups they stand together.

theWEIRDOSThe Weirdos are a very mix matched group of students and comprise of a lot of smaller sub groups. The hippies, rock kids, stoners, punks and various other groupings seem to have emalgamated to form a sort of super group. They do not bicker amoungst each other but rather stand as one of the strongest groups in the school. They adversity to the 'norm' has gave them a united sense of being with each other. They fit into all that is alternative and out of the ordinary and their groups seem to have fluid rather than rigid boundaries and some students can be a mix of multiple Weirdo sub groups. Their music taste is varied and yet rather specific in it's requirements. They unite against common enemies and have very strong moral and political beliefs. If you need to get your point across then a weirdo kid is more often than not the student you need to get in touch with as they love fighting for rights.

Of course, as with any divided sub-cultures there are exceptions and the odd ones out. So what are you? Do you belong to one of these sub-cultures or are you more 'one of a kind'. The decision is up to you, but you best work out where your loyalties lie!!
