This site is based around two private schools in rural England that are situated quite close together separated by fields and the village of Kingsford. St. Albyn's is the school for girls and Robert Gordon's is the school for boys.
The thing about these schools is that the children are not your average private school students and the teachers are just as bad as the kids!
So why not sign yourself on for a very special kind of education and find out what big plans are being made for the next big venture because here you will be sure to get some teenage kicks!
Here are the handy links to the stuff you will need to get going. Be sure to read all of the important stuff before registering because there are things you will need to know before you are approved!

**note -with applications, due to a high amount of twins (including siblings of characters) we are putting a ban on twins being involved be it you who is a twin or your siblings. It is a genetic phenomena and not that common!! -also, people being from America and France is on a freeze because there are too many. this is a British school and although there will be people not from the uk there, it does not make up the majority of the school! -not on freeze but a mere suggestion, this school is not near London, it is slightly further inland and so just saying they are from 'London is slightly unimaginative. We already have a large amount of the Brits at this school from London which is again unlikely. Still, this is not a rule, merely a suggestion.
** Basic Rules **
It is a condition of this board that all players must read the following rules before registering, creating a character, and afterward during the roleplay process. Any violation of the said rules will arise in warning from administration, continued breaking of the rules and in cases where serious offences occur will result in suspension of your account and/or deletion of that account and the blocking of your IP address from this board. Ignorance of the rules will not be an acceptable excuse for any infraction.
These rules have been compiled in order for our members to have fun without having to debate with other members or administration about their dissatisfaction. Follow them in order to receive and provide the roleplay experience of the highest quality.
..::Rating::..
This is an all ages board, but pleasse read tags to threads as some adult content is allowed but must be indicated as follows:
[mature content]
this is to ensure that younger members are more than aware when there is content that might not be suitable for their age.
We will NOT tolerate ANY of the following: any reference to sexual situations involving minors, reference to child porn, forced sexual situations, unconsenting violence, discriminatory, derogatory, or hurtful content or posts. Be respectful of others.
Anything we perceive as inappropriate content will be removed, this includes posts, signatures, usernames, images, links, etc. No warning of removal need be given nor justifications made. The offending member will be warned and or banned at our discretion.
If you are unsure of something feel free to contact one of the staff about it.
..::Politeness::..
Please help us to maintain a friendly atmosphere here at teenageKICKS by being Respectful and Polite. If you have to have a debate with someone, please do not do it on the board. Take it to PM or to the IM of your choice.
The best option is to contacts admins so they'd solve the issue.
..::Spamming::..
We will NOT tolerate spamming of any sort, on the board anywhere, or in PM. This is rude and will be dealt with harshly. Spamming includes mass PMs of web pages, huge amounts of smilies, repeating the same posts over and over, flooding a thread or any other variations of the form.
You get one and only ONE warning for this.
Spamming by guest, if it occurs, does not include the warning - the IP ban is immediate.
If you want to advertise with us, please, post in the respective forum or contact one of the admins. Any members who spams inboxes or forums with advertising for websites of any kind will be banned immediately from the site.
..::Activity::..
Activity is a must, it keeps threads moving and everyone happy. For this reason there will be severe penalties for not being active after the first two weeks of being registered.
If you register and never post an application, after two weeks you will be deleted. You are welcome to re register, but a second offence will have you banned.
If you register and post an application that is approved, but do not post after two weeks, you will be PMed a warning. After another week you will be deleted. As before you are welcome to re register but a second offence will have you banned.
If you are a regular user and post fairly frequently and suddenly disappear without telling us, we will give you a month. After that we will PM you a warning. After two weeks your account will be deleted, and you will be allowed to reregister if you choose to do so.
We would appreciate you telling us in the proper thread if you are going to be absent for any lengthy amount of time, so we do not delete your account accidently. A form can be found in the absense note forum, please use this when going away
..::Graphics::..
In order to save people from stretching the board or dominating the thread with pictures we are setting some rules on the size of graphics you can have. For avatars please stick to the size 150x200 and for signatures make them 500x300 or smaller. It will make everything neat and tidy! Anyone violating this rule will have their graphics removed by an admin and informed via PM to change the images.
..::Administration::..
The Staff of teenageKICKS comprise of the Administrator and Moderators. None of us are paid to do this job and therefore we are all maintaining this forum because we too enjoy the roleplay. While we appreciate and value your opinions on all topics, a Moderator's decision is final. If you continuously argue with members of staff, or respond rudely to warnings, then more warnings can and will be issued. If you wish to complain about a warning you have received, PM one of the Moderators or the Administrator.
..::PMs and Inbox::..
Please only use the Private Messages (PM) system for stuff you can't post, the PM system is not for chat.
..::School System::.. These schools are british schools and so will be sticking to the year systems they have there. There are 7 years, known by 1st year, 2nd year and so on. Children enter 1st year 11 and then leave it 12 depending on when their birthdays are, 2nd years are therefore 12-13, 3rd year 13-14 and so on.
..::Multiple accounts::..
You may hold multiple accounts on teenageKICKS, but keep in mind that all of your characters must follow the stated rules such as number of posts and acitvity check. All of the applications for the characters above the first one will be dealt with according to the same rules as new members. You may have multiple characters but only if you are aware that each character must stick to the rules.
..::Have fun::..
The goal of teenageKICKS is for the members to have a good time, and make friends. Obviously not everyone will agree with one another and we ask that you respect the opinions of others. Making sarcastic, or rude remarks directed at another member, or attacking others for holding views different to your own will not be tolerated. If you see this taking place, please report it to a moderator.
..::Posts::..
Third person
All posts are to be made in the third person. There are no exceptions, unless your character is actually talking to someone and telling a story. An example of a good third person post would be:
Aaron walked into the club. Looking around he saw that there were very few people there yet and this bothered him. He had wanted to have a good time tonight.
A bad post would be: *I walked into the club and I saw that there were very few people there. This bothered me because I wanted to have a good time.*
Special symbols
Please do not use *,~.-, or any other symbol in your posts.
Example: *Aaron ran over to Joe* Hi how are you? *Aaron sat down to wait for an answer*
This is bad roleplaying. Such posting patterns are better suited to chat room based role play and hence are not acceptable here.
This is good:
Aaron ran over to Joe and greeted him with a smile. "Hi Joe, how are you?"
Do you see the difference? Only the speech needs to be surrounded, and only with quotation marks.
If you repeat other character's words in your post, you can put his speech in italic. You can also bold your own words if you have a really long post - for convenience, but don't overuse this feature. Colors can also be used for your own speech.
..::Post Length::..
All posts should be no less then two paragraphs. Two paragraphs being at least three to four full sentences, five to six if you are using a lot of speech, quoting someone else's speech and or short sentences.
Still, don't write stuff for the sake of increasing the number of words in the post. Quantity doesn't always equal to quality. For example, if that's your third post in the room, it would be unnecessary to put in the description of the room all over again. Better concentrate on your character's inner world/reflections.
In any case, a well-written two-paragraph post that is easy and interesting to read is better than eight paragraphs with spelling/grammar mistakes.
As you go on roleplaying, your character might get involved in a plot of some kind. As you gather the in-scool and inter-relationship background, you will see that it becomes easier for you to write more.
..::Grammar::..
We understand that everyone has their off days and their bad typing days. But please, use spell check or just re-read your post before finalizing and actually posting it. A good tip is to type in a word processing program that helps you with your spelling and grammar and then copy and paste to the board.
Please remember to watch your spelling, grammar and abbreviations. Net speak or chat speak is not appreciated by anyone and doesn't help our members who speak English as a second language. This is non negotiable.
Please try and be as clear and precise as you can when posting.
Roleplay etiquette
These are not the rules mostly, yet the mere set of guidelines to make your rp exprience and rp experience of those roleplaing with you more enjoyable.
The main principle is, of course, "Respect yourself and others will respect you." I don't think Confucius could be wrong if people keep quoting him.
..::Don't interrupt::..
The rule. There are threads tagged as closed for specific characters only. Please, do not join those threads without PMing the involved characters and getting a positive reply.
The hint. There are threads that are not tagged as closed, and yet there are two or three characters involved and the thread is more than one page long. Theoretically you could join this thread, and yet that might not be very polite. What if the characters involved are following a certain storyline and they do not expect anyone to join? It would be better to still PM one of the characters involved and ask for a permission to join. Also, if you are paying attention you will find the password question soon.
..::Don't leave people behind::..
There are threads when only two characters are involved. Such threads are easy to manage, for the question as to whose turn it is to post now never emerges. Now, imagine a thread with four characters. Character A starts a thread, character B joins, A replies, C and D join. Then, because of time zone difference (or other real life issues) A, B, and D are online simultaneously, and C is offline. When C gets back, there are 10 more replies to the threads, couple of them addressing C and the rest of them forgetting C is in place. Chances are, C will be annoyed and will never reply to the thread any more. Thus, please, be patient with your replies.
..::Avoid outdated threads::..
Notwithstanding that we have a policy of closing old inactive threads, you might notice threads in which people haven't responded for some time. Say, two weeks. There would be no sense of joining such threads, for the characters are either not interested in the thread anymore, or maybe the thread was created for roleplaying of a particular storyline twists and is outdated for their characters already. Still paying attention for the question? Not long now!
..::Patience and politeness::..
Notwithstanding that members of teenageKICKS are generally very friendly and eager to roleplay, there might be situations when some people just do not reply to your posts. There might be a case when the character is too busy in other threads and thus the driver doesn't have time to reply to you. It is especially true when it comes to people rping more than one character. If you worry about the situation, you could pm the character with a reminder. What would be totally rude is to post your complain right there in the thread. Still paying attention? The question will appear at random and show no hint of being important so read carefully!!
..::Quality and motivation::..
There are also other reasons for people abandoning the threads, and a very important one is when a person has nothing to reply to. Imagine that A always puts a lot of effort in her posts, and writes 2-3 paragraphs of a well thought-out post at the least. A is very much inspired to continue to rp the situation, but then character B joins the thread and posts one paragraph of a reply, and for the main part B walks into the room and then says "Hi". This is absolutely legal to do of course, and yet that could dismotivate player A to ever reply to this thread. Do not post for the sake of posting. Put effort in your replies, that is polite to people who do so constantly.
..::Grammar and style::..
No-one is perfect. That's why we have programs with interactive spell-check, such as Word. If you can't remember how to spell a certain word, please, use those programs or use the dictionary. It is much more pleasant to read the post which are written in good English.
..::Drivers::..
Behind every character on the board there is a driver. Drivers are human, I am absolutely sure of that, and humans have issues in real life. What is/was your favourite subject at school? It is absolutely normal and that is a thing to take as granted. Keep that in mind, and act accordingly.
