The American Mafia, also known as the American Costa Nostra, has been based in New York City, New York for several decades. Now it is the base for the Mafia, internationally. The Mafia's influence has even filtered down into the young people. High school and college students in the New York City area have become directly or indirectly involved with the Mafia and its activities. As if love, sex, school, and drugs aren't enough. Now you have the corruption of a huge criminal organization.
The original five families still reside in the area, continuing to influence New Yorkers. However, other Mafia families have moved into the area. A family from the Japanese Mafia has migrated to New York City. It's supposed to be a way of mediating between the Japanese and American Mafia. However, relationships are often tense between the five families and the Japanese. When you specialize in crime, playing nice isn't your style.
Another constant annoyance to the Mafia are the other crime organizations, such as gangs. Though the Mafia is much larger and more organized then the others, the constant rising and falling of gangs is an ongoing nuisance for the Mafia. Though the Mafia often negotiates with certain gangs, they don't like the gang wars and other problems that these gangsters present.
Recently, two gangs in particular have been causing quite an uproar. The Mafia families are becoming impatient with them. However, killing so many people would draw quite a lot of attention. Even the Japanese want to be rid of the problems these gangs are presenting. They are the Wicked Angels and the Devil's Sons. The two gangs are constantly at war with one another. They've been driving away business and stirring up more and more problems for the Mafia. The Mafia families are detirmined to put it all to an end. They're tired of playing silly little games.
