[summer roberts]

summer and luke were meeting for dinner. the diner was a favorite place of theirs, so that was the place they chose. summer parked her car, then got out and walked into the diner, seeing luke at their usual booth. his back was to her, so she quietly walked over and put her tiny hands over his eyes. "guess who?" she said in a semi-deep voice, knowing she wasn't fooling him at all, but it was still fun. even though luke was a bit of an asshole, summer was really close with him. he was a good friend to her.

"your favorite girl in the whole wide world, that's who!" she said, removing her hands and bending down to give luke a hug. once that was done, she got into the other side of the booth and took a sip of luke's iced tea.

"guess who?" .

When Luke felt a small pair of hands cover his eyes and heard the--let's face it--weak attempt at a voice disguise, he knew it was Summer immediately. First of all, he was expecting her since they had made plans, and secondly, even when she tried to disguise her voice Summer was really distinguised. "Hopefully a really hot chick," Luke commented, pulling Summer's hands down from over his eyes.

"your favorite girl in the whole wide world, that's who!"

As far as Luke was concerned, he was still right. Damn, that was a hot shirt. He pretended not to notice, though, and returned Summer's hug. Summer was off limits, anyway. She might not have been dating Zach at that moment but she was essentially his, anyway. He was usually pretty good at 'not noticing.' "Aw babe, I wouldn't know about that," he teased, leaning forward towards the table as Summer helped herself to his drink. She was just too easy to tease. It made it hard to resist sometimes.

summer smirked and dramatically rolled her eyes. oh please, summer knew she was his favorite girl in the whole world with taylor in a close second. once he found himself a girl he actually wanted to date, she may take first place, but for now...that spot was hers. "i don't believe you." she said, taking another sip of his drink, then putting it back down onto the table and smiling at luke. "so the after party of the charity event is being held at the townsend place. taylor's mother is going to the event, but then she's leaving right after." she said, making sure she got that right. sure, she knew taylor missed her mother, but it was a great place to party since she was never around.

"so tay tay and i are getting ready at her place. so you and...well zach, if he wants to, you guys can meet us at tay's place because we're having the limo pick us up there. so let zach know...i guess." she said, rolling her eyes. she did miss zach, but she had no idea what was going on with them at the moment. she knew they weren't together and maybe he was bringing a date to the party. wait...he better not be! she would get her ass kicked. "is he bringing another girl to the event? he totally is, isn't he?" she asked, suddenly having a bit of a meltdown over the thought of him going with another girl.

[luke ward]

"so tay tay and i are getting ready at her place. so you and...well zach, if he wants to, you guys can meet us at tay's place because we're having the limo pick us up there. so let zach know...i guess."

'I'm definitely there," Luke decided out loud. "And if you want me to pass teh word on to Zach, too, I will." Clearly things weren't going too well between them at all if Summer was reluctant to tell Zach herself.

"is he bringing another girl to the event? he totally is, isn't he?"

Luke raised his eyebrows and shook his head. This girl clearly wasn't over Zach. "Chill, Summer. No, he's not bringing anyone. At least he wasn't planning on it the other day." It was possible that Zach changed his mind since then but as far as Luke knew Zach was going stag. Luke sighed. He wasn't usually really big on the whole talking-about-emotions-and-dating thing, but for Summer... since she seemed pretty freaked out... "I think you just need to relax about it. If you guys are meant to get back together again you will. Period. This isn't getting you anywhere."

summer knew luke was right. things always worked out when it came to her and zach. but summer was really sick of this whole on and off thing. she wanted it all...or she didn't want it at all. and maybe she needed to tell zach that. "good. because if he brought some stupid hoe to the party, her ass would be in the grass by me beating her up." she admitted, knowing luke knew it would happen. sure, summer was 5'2 and as tiny as can be, but she had her rage blackouts and she could kick some serious ass if need be. "i guess i was just kind of hoping he would ask me to go with him." she said, sighing slightly and shrugging her shoulders, trying to not make a huge deal out of this. but it sucked. and these events were always better when she was there with zach.

"anyways...i'm guessing you're going stag so you can pick another newport harbor random to hook up with?" she asked, even though it was more of a rhetorical question. that's what luke always did for the events.

Luke laughed out a little and grabbed his drink as he slouched back in his chair. "Yeah, I'm probably going stag," he agreed. He hadn't had an actual girlfriend in a long time because he usually didn't find girls that he thought he'd want to be with for more than a couple days. "We'll see where the night takes me." He wasn't sure there was anyone new to hook up with really, though. He had already slept with a lot of the girls at their school who aren't in relationships. Well, maybe not Marissa, but he'd have to be more than drunk to hook up with her. He'd have to be out of his mind, too. "Maybe you should give it a try. Loosen up, get Zach out of your mind. Seriosuly, I feel like freaking Cupid or something lately but it beats being alone."

summer laughed slightly. well, it seemed like he was kind of being cupid. he got the ball rolling for taylor and ryan, though summer still wasn't too sure how into the idea taylor was. but she had a feeling that the charity event would be the perfect place for them to figure out if they liked each other. "so you think i should hook up with somebody at the party?" she asked, the idea sounding completely insane at first, but then maybe...well it would make zach really jealous. and maybe he would feel like he's losing her and he'd make some grand gesture to get her back.

that sounds really romantic. hmm, not a bad idea at all. in fact, kind of a brilliant idea. "i am totally loving that idea, luke. ooh, totally one of your waterpolo buddies! that would make zach really jealous. maybe he'd even punch the guy." she said, now kind of talking to herself more than anything. oh, this sounded like such a good idea!

So clearly Summer was getting a little carried away with the idea of Zack trying to win her over. That just wasn't going to work--not if it involved a fight. "Whoa, none of my teammates are getting punched out, okay?" Luke said. He liked watching a couple of guys throwing punches as much as the next, but not when they had to play together. Not when Luke was in charge of them. "I can't have my teammates all pissed at eachother during games. I can't have any of them with their eyes swelled shut, either." If Summer was going to hook up with someone on his team just to raise drama it wasn't going to be something Luke would set up for her. "If you and anyone on my team hook up it's not so that Zack will fight for your honor."

maybe luke knew her too well. and okay, he was right. it would be stupid to make out with someone just to make zach jealous. that would only make things worse. "fine. but i do want to make out with one of your teammates. his name is zach stevens. he's my boyfriend. i promise that will be the only waterpolo boy i kiss, okay?" she said, playfully rolling her eyes as she lifted her hand up and ran it through her long chocolate brown hair. but even if she didn't cause a fight to break out, there would be one. it happened at almost every event. a brawl always broke out. always.

"and of course, you. you and zach are the only boys i'll kiss." she said, giggling after she spoke. clearly, her and luke would never happen. not that she couldn't have sex with him, but he's best friends with zach. so that could never happen.

Luke cracked a grin. He knew that Summer was just joking around but he couldn't help but take some satisfaction in the fact that he was included as the only other guy on her list. "Be careful of what you say, i might just hold you to it," he warned jokingly. He couldn't lie, though. He definitely wouldn't complain if he ever really got the chance to hook up with Summer. I mean, come on, she was hot. In a lot of ways he saw her like a sister, but every now and then he'd see something else when he saw her.

Zach was Luke's best friend, though. They had been for a long time. While otherwise he might not think twice about sleeping with someone if two people had a history, when it came to Zach he was good with not overstepping his boundaries. It made it easy for him to ignore the fact that part of him was attracted to Summer. "But as long as it is only Zach... or me," Luke added in with a wink, "that you kiss then that's fine with me."

summer smirked at luke. sure, he was hot...but never. because zach would probably kill them both if it ever happened and he would have every right to do so. it was just like...the unwritten rule. him and luke were best friends and her and zach had history, so she was off limits to luke. "i'm glad you approve." she said, the waitress finally coming over to their booth. both of them ordered their meals, and once she left, summer decided to ask about this whole "hooking taylor up" thing.

"so i hear you found a boy for taylor. i need all the details." she said, knowing she was a tad protective of her best friend. mostly because the girl was clueless when it came to relationships and she refused to sit back and watch her best friend get hurt.

"so i hear you found a boy for taylor. i need all the details."

Ah yes, the new kid. "Yeah, his name's Ryan. He seems pretty cool. He was at the Bait Shop the other day," he remembered out loud. "The poor guy knows nothing about Newport. Seriously, he asked about Marissa of all people. Don't worry, though. He was really interested in Taylor. He wanted me to put in a good word for him and introduce them and whatnot." True, they didn't exactly know much about the guy's history, but he really had seemed like the kind of guy that would would mesh well with their group of friends. He just had that look about him and definitely seemed pretty chill... and Taylor deserved to have a good guy in her life. "I figure the Oscar Night would be a good time for them to meet, ya know? Lots of people.... some booze..."

summer couldn't help but roll her eyes. okay, so it would be a good night to meet, but she was afraid the alcohol would just make things worse. "luke, tay tay has morals! she's not just going to sleep with him just because she's drunk. so if that is what you have in mind for the night, the answer is heck no! taylor deserves more than some stupid meaningless one night stand!" she said, realizing she was probably blowing this up a bit...but she worried about her best friend.

"he better be a good guy." said stated, deciding that was all she had left to say about the whole thing. really...it was taylor's life and all that summer could do was give taylor advice.

When Luke heard Summer get defensive about Taylor, he held up his hands back leaned back in his chair. "Hey, Sum, I didn't tell the kid I'd get him a lay. What happens between the two of them is between the two of them." Of course, he might be rooting a little bit for something to happen between the two of them, but he wasn't exactly going to force two people to sleep togehter.

"he better be a good guy."

"Well I guess we'll find out tonight, then, won't we?" Luke asked casually. "You have to find out somehow. Come on, Summer, its an introduction. How much harm can that do?" Besides, by the sound of things Summer was going to be on her guard all night and would intervene the moment things seem like they're going bad. It wasn't like there was a whole lot of room for the night to go wrong.

fair enough. luke was right. and besides, she needed to let taylor go off on her own and try to be social and normal with a guy. but of course, summer would keep her eye out on the two of them the whole night to make sure things were going well. "she just better not abandon me at the party. because i am getting really drunk and she's my date and if she leaves with robert then i will be screwed and then i would have to ask zach for a ride home and it would be all weird because he's not my boyfriend. and then people would talk and think we left to go hook up and there would be rumors and then people would say we were back together and that would be bad because we aren't back together and..." wait, what the heck was she even talking about? summer couldn't even remember where she was going with this, but whatever. this was part of the summer charm. her little rants.

"it would just be bad." she said, deciding that was how she would end that rant because it sounded good.
