Maya sighed, and pulled her legs to her chest resolutely. There was very little she could do at this hour. Balmy air blew in through the window, and the moon was brilliant and white, a shining orb that hung outside her window. She had found herself in this position so many times recently, she wondered if she legitimately had a problem with insomnia. She checked her watch. Never mind, it was barely ten o'clock. There was plenty for her to do at this hour. But some how the lazy air blowing in her bedroom was more comforting then any sort of summertime partying she could have been doing. She was clad in purple pajama bottoms with lime green frogs all over them. Not her most dignified attire, but she was, after all, lounging. A black tank top clung to her top half, a reminder of how hot Wisconsin in June was. She glanced over the edge of her bed, her lap top bag looking mysteriously inviting. Hopefully, Rebecca would be long asleep, and the rhythmic tapping of her fingers against the key board would wake her up and annoy her. This she saw only as a fringe benefit, because she felt strangely lonely, despite the fact that her parents hadn't yet gone to sleep, and her sister was probably up talking to her unintelligent friends. Although recently, Rebecca had taken to going bed at 9:30 promptly, and she reasoned this by mumbling something about how it made her beautiful in the morning. Maya hadn't exactly payed attention to her words. So now, she unfolded her computer and opened up her chat program, looking expectantly at the screen.

She waited for the signature noise of her iChat when somebody else replied, but it was silent. Perhaps some one would talk, perhaps not. Either way, she was relatively content. Footsteps down the hallway made her look up. What arrived at her doorway both surprised and displeased her slightly. In the half light there were deep shadows under her deep hazel eyes, and she seemed oddly vulnerable. "Bec... what the hell are you doing up?" Her expression became haughty for a moment, but then it softened when she realized at some degree the question was out of concern. "Couldn't sleep." The skinny fourteen year old picked her way through Maya's junk, and plopped down on her bed, looking slightly expectant. Maya narrowed her eyes. Rebecca seemed to have gotten everything she lacked. Her skin was the same porcelain tone of Maya's, but she had no blemishes, no freckles. Her nose was delicate and finely placed, and her eyes were even more angled then Maya's were. Where Maya's irises were a deep chocolate brown, Rebecca's were a startling hazel tone, flecks of gold shining here and there. Even her build was more slender, taller, leaner, than her compactly built older sister. Maya narrowed her eyes. So what had brought her highness from her high place, down here to the commoner? Surely she wanted something. Becky never came to talk without a reason. When she remained silent, Maya decided to speak. Her tone cut through the darkness, oddly harsh in the silence. "So what do you want, Bec? Do you want me to hook you up with faceless hot jock? What is it?" Becky looked taken aback, and Maya felt hot savage pleasure at her sister's surprise. No doubt she would have hoped the stillness would've calmed Maya's attitude. "Because obviously you want something. You'd never think to pay your older sister a visit at this hour anyway, unless you had something shallow and mean you wanted to ask her while her defenses were down. And that's the most times someone has referred to themselves in a third person when talking to their snobby sister." Her words were more cutting then she realized. She returned her gaze to the computer screen, and when she looked up she was mortified to see her sister's tears, glistening in the moonlight. It didn't give her pleasure. She stared upward, her face stuck in an expression that plainly said, 'I'm going to regret this later on' and turned to her sister, wrapping her arms around her. "I-I just wanted to see you because... because I couldn't sleep, and because I'm s-scared," Becky managed to get out between silent heaves of tears. "Scared? Why Bec? There's nothing to be afraid of. I promise." Becky didn't answer her question. She just leaned against her sister's shoulder, Maya, in an oddly maternal way, smoothed her dark curled hair. That's another thing she had that Maya didn't. Maya's hair hung in half hearted waves to just past her waste, hovering between black and brown. Rebecca's hair was a deep ebony tone, most curled into tight ringlets about her head, that fell to her shoulders. But Maya didn't mentally add this to the queue. She ignored this fact, and let herself fall silent, thinking about what had just happened. It both confused her, and comforted her. Her sister needed her, no matter how faintly.

You know one of those dreams, where you just can't wait to wake up? Well, Tanner was having one of those. She had been watching some scary movie before falling asleep the previous night, and she hadn't been able to stop dreaming about it. It was horrible. She had woken up at least three times now, quivering and sweating. Finally she had managed to fall asleep again after drinking some water, and her dreams were peaceful for a while, then she dreamt that Angel got his head chopped off. That made her bolt out of her bed and call him, just to see that it was a dream. After hearing his grumbling and moaning because she was calling him at four am, Tanner could finally get some peace. She hadn't talked to her friends since she got back. Infact she hadn't talked to anyone. She had managed to stay out of the spot light. Taking a deep breath, Tanner laid her head back down. Angel's head was still intact, as far as she knew Claire hadn't turned into a psycho killer, and Penelope was not a tree (how she managed to dream that was beyond her). She turned on her laptop, and watched some random MTV program before falling asleep. This time her dreams were filled with running, lots of running. What was she running from? That she wasn't sure. She hadn't seen anyone chasing her. It was like a never ending battle. What was she gonna do? Finally shaking herself away causing her to fall off the bed with a loud thud. She was tangled in her covers and began to have a serious case of clustrophobia. She managed to get free but forget getting back to sleep. She felt like she had drank a red bull and was up for a while. Figuring nothing good to be on T.V she went onto aim to see if anyone else was having her same luck. eggnogiscool47 has signed on. eggnogiscool47: Anyone here? Tanner was hesitant to reply back. Everyone would know she was back in town. It was bound to actually happen sometime. BrokenSmile has signed on BrokenSmile: Hey, Whats up? Tanner sat back in her chair and waited for a responce. She wasn't really sure who the person was. Her buddy list had been deleted when she left. And for all she knew her friends could have changed their names. She waited patiently.
