it's been awhile since i've seen your face

eyes: Justin's eyes are almond-shaped and dark brown.

height: 6'1"
body type: Muscular

played by: Kevin Jonas
in depth:
Justin doesn't rate his appearance. The girls, however, do. His eyes have an unintended intensity that proves quite piercing under tense circumstances. Otherwise, they have a twinkle that helps brighten the dark irises and casts a fun impression on those he meets. When it comes to his hair, Justin is awfully obsessive. He spends a minimum of half an hour in front of the mirror every morning, maintaining every single spike. His hair shares the same dark, almost black shade of his eyes and it only lightens after a lot of exposure from the sun. As a result, his hair is usually a couple of shades lighter when he returns from his holidays.

Justin is rarely inactive. If his days aren't spent meeting his friends all over the city, then he is running all over doing tasks he finds unnecessary. Not being the lazy type, he does them anyway and occasionally stops by the gym on his way home. His skin has a rather dirty look to it, due to his constant tan that darkens his Caucasian skin only slightly. His skin is darker around his eyes and scars from his acne (which has long since cleared up) are splattered across his cheeks and chin. In the right light, however, Justin's skin is light and clear.

His typical attire is jeans and a plain t-shirt, sometimes with a shirt on top in the colder weather. He usually dons his leather jacket whenever the opportunity arises and can't help but slip a few struts into his walk when he's walking down the street - purely for the entertainment of his friends, that is. His smile is cheeky but subtle, which gives him an inviting presence and is the closest representation of his true personality in his entire physical appearance.

i love you times infinity. oh and plus one.

five words to describe you:
  • Cheeky
  • Cool
  • Funny
  • Approachable
  • Popular
likes:
  • Being the center of attention - Justin is always trying to impress his friends and grab their attention. He's willing to try any prank or act like a complete jerk to get it.
  • Singing - Nothing serious. Justin just enjoys belting out a few tunes in his apartment when nobody's around.
  • Girls - Girls. Girls. Girls! Anything that involves being with his friends involves being with at least one girl. He's always looking to have fun; he wouldn't even care if it was his best friend's girlfriend, as long as it was worth it!
  • Cars - Justin's obsession with cars could be described as unhealthy. He's always looking for a new one, and once that gets old, his little brother gets it. Unfortunately, he's pretty strapped for cash so he might have to kiss his regular visits to the garage goodbye...
  • His powers - Justin loves his powers. It gives him a sense of superiority over all of his friends and really aids his confidence. Needless to say, when he found out his brothers could do extraordinary things as well, he was quite angry. But no worries. He always has Ben to take it out on.
dislikes:
  • School - there's a reason Justin hasn't made the slightest effort to get into college. He hasn't picked up a pen to apply. He hates authority (see below) and considered his old high school nothing but a jail. Perhaps it was the strict private school he attended when he was younger that started the irrational hate off...
  • His brothers - Justin dislikes his annoying little brothers (or bothers, as he calls them). His age advantage over the other two helps him vent it, though. He fights with Josh the most, but Josh seems more interested in beating up Ben. Justin, being the oldest, gets to beat up both. Especially Ben - in Justin's opinion, Ben snatched up all the attention from their parents when he was born.
  • Authority - Rules suck. Justin lives by only one rule - and that is not to follow any instructions, or agree to any restrictions people try to place on him. He was not just a mischief maker at school. He was a proper rebel. Spray painting the walls of the school, harassing teachers, you name it. Who knows - maybe this rebellious streak will contribute to his uncertain future...
  • Romance - Justin finds it sentimental and disgusting. When it comes to relationships, he does not think and just acts. You'd think ti would be a turn-off, but it seems to have attracted more girls than ever. Especially after he dumped his ex-ex-girlfriend and made out with her best friend straight after.
  • Being Inferior - Justin is never second best. The only thing he's ever lost at is swimming, and that was to his youngest brother. After he realised Ben was a better swimmer, he promised himself that he would never feel inferior again. He uses his powers to make sure it stays that way.
secrets: Justin has a couple of big secrets. Firstly, his powers, which he will only ever reveal when people like him become accepted in society (which has yet to be proved). The other is the cash he has stored in a cupboard in his apartment. Justin Sheppard is a thief. Luckily his powers have helped him cover his tracks and rob anything from banks to tills without being detected - hey, what's the point in getting a job when there's a whole city of cash at his fingertips?
common knowledge: Justin is one of the most popular guys in his group of layabout high school graduates. He's had seven girlfriends in the past two years (common knowledge due to his overly frequent public displays of affection) and he's a joker most of the time. Every so often, when something doesn't go the way he wanted it to, he'll change into a complete jerk and shun anyone who tries to help him. Surprisingly, most of his relationships don't last very long.
worst memory: Justin's worst memory, specifically, is the crippling feeling of irresponsibility that he felt when he and Josh threw Ben off the side of a boat. As the oldest child, he was left speechless and desperate. The helplessness he felt then has prompted the development of his strong independence and stubborness. As a result, Justin makes sure that he has a variety of options whenever he is faced with a problem. He couldn't cope with another incident like that. A more personal memory - a secret memory, in fact - is the first time he stole from a convenience store in New York. He felt so shady, but it was strange rush of adrenaline and excitement. Over time, its become habit; but still, Justin prefers not to linger on his questionable methods of getting money.
worst fears: Justin's main fear is losing his family and friends. He can't bear the thought of being alone in the world with no one to have a decent conversation with. He loves being social. Another of his fears is being tamed. He doesn't want to end up in a boring office job and he'll do anything to make sure it doesn't happen. Recently, he has been afraid of his powers being discovered in case someone finds out about his robberies, or vice versa.
goals and dreams: Justin just wants to be rich. He'll do anything for money - he'd kill for it. Once he has enough, he wants to disappear and leave everything behind. Incredibly selfish, yes - but Justin usually puts his own feelings before everyone else's. Even his brothers', regardless of their strong bond.

in depth:
Justin will never be perfect. He acknowledged that a long time ago, when he graduated from high school. He doesn't conform to the normality of everyday life - he struggles to even grasp the concept of it. To him, its impossible to do so much as get a job. So he steals instead, as a distraction from the niggling feeling of inadequacy he feels. He has morals, but luckily, he can turn his abidance to them on and off when it benefits his own circumstances. When he ignores them completely, taking from a convenience store till is guilt-free. When he returns to his apartment and adds the cash to the box he keeps it in, he starts to realise how its not okay at all. Hopefully, when the time comes to make a big decision, he'll manage to keep morals and integrity in mind.

Justin will never be normal. He's acknowledged that, too, though with a little less reluctance. He loves his powers and he'll use them at every opportunity. He only allows two rules to restrict the use of his powers - who's watching, and the possible outcomes. Mostly he keeps them to himself in public in case he reveals himself, his brothers, and the rest of those in the world with weird abilities. He knows that there are more out there, too. There must be.

He's a tough guy. He wouldn't let anybody hurt him or anyone he cares for - protection of those closest to him is like a reflex to Justin. If the time ever calls for it, he'll be a reluctant hero. As mentioned before, he ignores his morals most of the time. But at certain moments, they go into overdrive and he has a clear distinction between right and wrong. Naturally, because of his upbringing and the lessons instilled in his mind, he jumps straight to the right thing to do. Except when he steals. He refuses to question his beliefs because of it though. To him, stealing's a necessity, not a choice.

Justin isn't thoughtful. The only thoughts that regularly run through his mind are what he should say next, as he is almost always around someone else. He has what could be described as a one-track mind - with various different tracks depending on the situation. When he's around girls, for instance, the track usually leads to the same place...

He's assertive and only ever shy when he fakes it to get girls' attention. Regardless of his lack of contemplation, Justin understands people. Maybe as a result of his busy social life, he's become accustomed to every possible response. Either way, those who try to outwit him often find themselves defeated. He's a very bright kid - which manifests in his elaborate floorplans of the places he wishes to steal from - which is why no one can quite understand why he didn't give further education a try.

Justin simply shrugs off their curiousity. He'll never be perfect.

oh, and one more thing kid: you'll never find another me.

the rents: Diana (mother), Frank (father)
shared a womb: Ben (brother, 15), Joshua (brother, 17)
anybody else: n/a
hometown: Key West, Florida, now New York.
birthdate: May 21st, 1988

in depth:
Justin was born in Key West General Hospital to Diana and Frank Sheppard in the early morning of 21st May 1988. His birth had been thoroughly contemplated and anticipated for the nine months of his mother's pregnancy. As a result, his parents loved him more than they thought it was possible for anyone to love their son and Justin lived a life of luxury in the Sheppard home. His grandparents loved him. Even the neighbours did. And then Josh came along and even the two-year-old Justin noticed the abrupt change. His mother and father's sleepless nights made them a little less adoring and a lot grumpier and Justin didn't find a pair of eyes on him 24/7 like he used to. The grandparents now sat Josh on their laps and the neighbours didn't even glance his way while ogling at the new, youngest Sheppard. Envy was bottled up for the two years that followed and it reached breaking point when Ben was born. No one even looked his way anymore! They were all so fascinated with the cute interaction between his two younger brothers.

Justin emerged from the jealousy of his infancy and tunred into a very protective older brother. He was quite devasstated when he had to start going to school and leave his two brothers behind. Even though Josh was only a tot and Ben was only one, they still had so much fun. The grey, boring world of private elementary school dampened his young, carefree spirits and by the time Josh entered the school Justin was not the lively older brother he used to be. He still made sure that Josh, or Ben, who entered the school a few years after, never got into any trouble with anyone from teachers to bullies.

When the boys were 10, 8 and 6 they became inseperable. They attended regular swimming lessons - Justin would excel, and, being the oldest, he would call Josh hopeless, and watch as Ben became immediately better than him. He was more angry than jealous when Ben started winning gold medals at the age of eight. Justin always got silver - but he promised himself that in everything else he would attain nothing other than gold. He became an arrogant, competitive, but nevertheless popular guy as he grew older. When the strain of the seemingly enormous age gap between him and his brothers began to set in, their brotherly bond and group activities became less and less frequent. For the first few years, Justin didn't miss them in the slightest. He was perfectly content with his new, cool friends. But when Ben disappeared, everything changed and he shut himself away until his little brother was found.

And he was. Justin didn't have time to admit how much he had worried about his brother - though he doubted he would anyway, being the detached, cool older brother - before the Sheppard family packed their bags and moved to New York. By this time, he had been tamed by the stringent private school and when he moved into a new high school, the idea of rules and abidance was shattered. In a way, he enjoyed it. There was still that part of him, however, that missed running up and down the beach not far away from their old house with his brothers in tow. Justin got into a lot of trouble at his school and it attracted a lot of popularity - over the next few months, any nostalgia was destroyed. He had embraced city life and, most importantly, rebellion. Needless to say, his parents were not pleased.

Justin reluctantly went with his family to a fancy cruise ship, all the while wishing he was spending the summer with his friends. He didn't want to spend more than a few hours with his family, and to prove this to his parents, and more importantly his brothers, he told Josh to follow him in pushing Ben around the deck. The simple splash of his youngest brother falling into the ocean did not do justice to the hysteria that followed - Justin was crushed by upset and fear. What if his brother was dead? Surely it was certain - no one could survive for the length of time Ben had been missing. Realism took a backseat, however, and Justin spent the next few days locked in his room hoping that his brother returned. He did, and this was the first step to the boys revealing their powers to one another. Although the brotherly bond was well hidden from Justin's friends, it had become stronger than ever.

Not long after the incident, Justin graduated from high school and disappointed both his family and teachers by deciding against going to college. The rules of his first private school had had a big impact and put him off the idea of school completely - the only reason he enjoyed high school in New York was because of his friends. So, Justin bought a dingy apartment in downtown New York using savings from the numerous part time jobs he had when he was at school. He found himself with next to no money afterwards and the need for a job became urgent. Unless he could find another way to make money; and he did. Using his powers, Justin broke into a convenience store in a street not far away from his apartment and stole enough to pay three month's rent and then some. The guilt that followed outweighted the comfort of his seemingly unlimited finance. He knew his Dad worked against this kind of stuff and if anyone found out - well, the results would not be pleasant. This was just more incentive not to get caught. He continued stealing, and he's still doing it today.

Tell me I`m not making a mistake.

role-play sample:
Cal's eyelids flickered apart and he peered over the sofa cushion at the tacky neon alarm clock fixed to the wall. It was time. He ran a hand through his long, unkempt hair as he sat up and adjusted his jacket's position on his shoulders. He had been sleeping, rather uncomfortably, on the sofa and the warmth of the cushion was still imprinted on his cheek. Rubbing away the bothersome feeling, he stumbled to his feet and flicked the curtains apart with two fingers. The streets were flooded with an unusual amount of people. The network of monochrome alleyways looked like it was swarming with ants from the high aerial view of Cal's apartment - before he could consider the scene further, perhaps plan a route, something hit the door. Hard.

He darted across the room and stood next to the door, ear pressed to the wall. His strong hearing picked up on shuffling and hoarse voices, distorted by the mechanical crackle of a walkie talkie. He cursed silently and his pale, thin fingers curled around the rusted doorhandle, gently applying pressure, but not enough to open the lock. It was only when he heard the hushed response of one of the agents outside that he lunged out into the corridor before they could do so much as grab the handle. Knives slid in a practised manner from his sleeves and Cal plunged them both into both the agent's chests. The two thick set men groaned and their knees buckled, the ground shaking slightly when their bodies hit the threadbare, carpeted floor. Eying the crimson liquid tarnishing the blades with distaste, Cal discarded the weapons and they clinked onto the floor in a neat arrangement. Before the knives had even stopped spinning from the impact, Cal was halfway down the staircase of the apartment building.

The day was cool and autumnal, golden leaves tumbling along the sidewalk from the trees that lined the street in a haphazard row. The scene, usually quite beautiful, went unnoticed because of the sheer amount of people crowding the area. They were huddled in an enormous gathering around the centre of the city. Cal didn't even feel the urge to check what it was that was so fascinating. The boss had probably come up with something interesting. If he had, then Cal would probably get a boring, elaborate, blow-by-blow account of the planning alongside his next assignment - rolling his eyes as he turned the corner, Cal breathed in the crisp morning air and let it out in a long sigh.

The people on the fourth street he walked down didn't even notice as he slinked into the comfortable shade of 'The Alley'. It ran, narrow and claustrophobic, between two shady gentlemen's clubs. As a result, the setting of the damp, dark (but for a shaft of sunlight down one side) was hardly pleasant. The darkness was, however. Knowing that no one could see, let alone hear the conversation - the damp walls would muffle every word, after all - was a great comfort to Cal. And more importantly, the boss. This was Boss' favourite meeting place, reserved especially for his favourite employees. Namely Cal, and of course, that arrogant berk Clyde. His jaw clenched at the mere mention and he shook the stomach-turning image of the man from his head.

A vague silhouette stood out from the pools of shadow and Cal approached confidently, clearing his throat. Manners had to be maintained around the Boss. Quite ironic, really, that the Boss would want to use manners when, in their field of expertise, they were the last thing on one's mind. "I see you've made quite an entrance," Cal's baritone voice rang out in the dark and his face hardened. Quietening his tone substantially, Cal continued, one hand reaching into the darker shadows of the Boss' hiding place. He suppressed a shiver as the shadow crept across his mottled hand and engulfed it completely. "Welcome back."
