Strengths: A truly gifted writer, Jude is incredibly good at making up things, and lying. He's the kind of person that could lie in an instant without hesitation. He also happens to be extremely intelligent in general knowledge, especially that of politics.
Weaknesses: His physical form, being lean and slim, is not helpful when it comes to physical fights.
Mutation: The Power of Illusion - Jude has the power to mentally create deep mirages for anyone he encounters. In a fight, if he is trapped, Jude will bestow an image to the attacker that makes it seem like there are multiple copies of him, or, if need be, bestow their worst fears in the mirage, right in front of them.

Telepathy - Jude uses this mental communication to gain a psychological advantage on everyone else, usually using it for the purpose of finding out their fears, ambitions, etcetera, to use for his mirages.

Genius - Being as how much Jude reads and writes on a daily basis, he has learn to develop this power of deciphering information with ease.

Psi :: A main psionic power that gives a person limited use of ALL mental abilities. Jude has developed a great psychological self, stemming from his times alone for most of his life.

Mutation Weaknesses: In order for his mirages and psi to work correctly, Jude has to be in a balanced state of mind. He cannot be angry/depressed/ any other heartfelt emotion that would affect his judgment.
Human Skills: Being as how Jude loves to write and make up stories, he also has come to love bestowing ‘fiction’ in real life, being a top notch liar.
Fears: Dying alone, not having experienced love.
Ambitions: To experience love and happiness for the first time.
Random Facts: Aside from being gay, Jude has some interesting habits. If he's watching television and someone on the show mentions something he doesn’t like, he'll vocalize it, whether he's by himself or not. If he can't beat a level of a video game, he'll become highly frustrated and, either, break the controller or turn the game off for a while.

Personality:

Depressed, angry, and fed up are some of the key traits of Jude Deprose. He feels that he is mistreated by the world and karma on a daily basis though he is a good person in nature. These traits stem from his brutal history with his parents when he came out to them as both homosexual and a mutant and their response, particularly his father Frank.

Receiving scars from several beatings by various people, Jude has limited self esteem, believing that no one would want to be with him, because of the long scar on his back. Because of this, he is very paranoid about getting close to people, especially those who he might feel an attraction to, because he’s afraid he might be hurt.

He was a very warm person, often doing favors for people, and being a good Samaritan, before he adopted these feelings of global hatred against him. Now he is angry at the world, happy and gleeful to see people suffer. He feels that karma needs to be reversed so that the bad people actually receive bad and the good receive the good, and until it does, the world will be inevitably against him.

Because of these feelings, Jude doesn’t really speak much and is a bit of an anti-socialite. He often defers all of his thoughts and feelings on things towards his writing. Not to say he isn’t able to socialize, but it would be a rarity to find him enjoying a party or big event of some stature.</sup>

Personal History:
A nice guy gone bad: the theme of Jude Deprose’s life. Ever since being born into the upper-middle class Deprose Family by, former famous college football player, Frank Deprose and, former popular cheerleader, Patricia Deprose, Jude had always been pressured to live up to the ‘family standards’. As soon as he was able to walk, his father had him in every sport available, hoping to breed him, and his older brother James as possible replacements in terms of athletic fame. While his brother James succeeded in every sport he ever played, Jude failed, earning him the ‘inferior brother’ title in the family’s view.

This trend continued all the way through childhood and the teenage years, where James would succeed in playing sports, becoming almost as famous as his father was, being a star quarterback for the University of Nevada, while Jude would fail in even the lightest of athletic activity, namely his gym class. Succeeding in all of his academic classes was not enough for his parents. They wanted him to be like his brother James so much, even condemning him. One night, Jude even caught his father saying that he wishes that Jude wasn’t born and that another ‘James’ had been brought in instead. His mother fought his father on this, bringing up Jude’s non-athletic abilities and intelligence, but the father wouldn’t listen.

This led to the inevitable in Jude’s life. At about seventeen, Jude began to notice a few things about himself on a personal scale. He had found himself becoming attracted to members of the same sex and becoming infatuated with writing. Something about writing was mystic to him. Through it, he was able to express his feelings and inner thoughts without anyone knowing. He must’ve had about four or five journals, all chronicling certain things he felt, personal or not. Because of this ability to express his feelings without telling anyone, Jude had no intention of being found out. Well it would only be so long that he could hide what he was, or at least the portion he knew.

One day, on a rainy and brisk day, after Jude had gotten out of high school, he returned home, ecstatic to write about his encounters that day, particularly the romantic friendship he was developing with another loner, Jacob Knight, only to find his parents in the living room, carrying all of his journals with a look of disdain on their faces. Jude could tell from the look on their faces and the brown packed duffle bag on the floor, that they had found out about him being gay. The mother looked on with sadness as she knew of the events that were about to take place while the father looked at Jude with disgust. Giving him religiously extreme rhetoric about sin and what not, Frank Deprose brought out something in Jude that he wouldn’t have thought was possible. The two started arguing, father and son, back and forth, until Frank upset Jude so much that the young teen unleashed a psionic blast sending Frank into the wall. Everyone, including Jude himself, was shocked at the events. Jude had mentally sent his father to the hospital, and because of his actions, his mother, who had been tolerant of his son’s sexuality and actions, went out on a tangent and threw her son out of the house.

Jude didn’t really care, because he thought he could go over to Jacob’s place. He grabbed his things and left with, the only hesitation stemming from him not being able to say bye to his brother. As Jude was trying to decipher what just happened while he strolled down the sidewalk, he saw out of the corner of his eye, his romantic friend Jacob kissing another boy from the class, right in front of the house. Shocked completely, Jude looked on with a look of extreme prejudice while the two locked lips. It wasn’t long before Jacob and his new boyfriend noticed the young man standing there. Their excuses weren’t enough for Jude, he wanted vengeance and ,without intentionally doing so, unleashed his power to create mirages out of thin air. Jacob and his boyfriend were afraid of spiders so what did the mirage create? Spiders on a large proportion. Both began to scream and run around in a frenzy, until passing out. This, oddly enough, brought a smirk onto Jude’s face as he stood there watching gleefully. He was now, a mutant, and he loved it.

Jude went to the local library and looked up mutation, finding the Xavier Academy, in which he enrolled a week later. It is here that he learned all of his abilities, how to use them, his teacher? Jean Grey. She taught him almost everything she knew about how to use the psionic ability correctly and properly. Because of this, Jude became a force to reckoned with, but he was limited as a x-student. He was still picked on by the experienced and older students, and he still wrote in his little composition notebook, his thoughts and feelings under a great oak tree out in the yard. It had seemed to Jude that this was all there was, but that all changed with the help of Magneto.

The mutant warlord had taken notice of Jude’s abilities, and wanted him to be in the Brotherhood. One day, with the help of Mystique and other undercover agents, Magneto was able to acquire the diary of Jude and use it to his advantage. While the young mutant, now twenty years old, was out strolling through the park, though avoiding the ducks at the pond, Magneto and his brotherhood approached him. The Brotherhood offered him everything he wanted: love, peace, the opportunity to get back at those who harm, everything that he knew would get Jude on his side. It worked, for a few days later, Jude dropped himself from the academy and enlisted in the Brotherhood ranks. Inspired by hate, despair and loneliness, how far would Jude go to achieving that happy life he’s always wanted?</sup>
