appearance: Has he looked in a mirror lately? His apperence means as much to him as opera does (and that isn't much). His brown hair is always messy and will probably be forced to cut it soon. He's only two inches shorter than his brother (a fact he is often reminded of), standing at 5'6". So he's kind of short, so what? And so, he's not the biggest guy ever (140 lbs)... size doesn't matter. Right?

So, in addition to being short and skinny, he doesn't have the greatest fashion sense. Normally he'll be found in sweatpants and a t-shirt. That's about as dressed up as it gets. If you're lucky, he'll wear jeans one day. He does keep himself clean, but that's about as much work on his outside as he's willing to do.

Deep down inside, he knows that he has some potential since he's like a sponge and remembers the majority of stuff in class. But, he's afraid of the real world and rejection, so he purposely fails his tests and things so that he can stay back and get back to where he should be. He didn't ask to skip a grade.
quirks/habits:
He;s a compulsive writer (needs to write everything down, from what he wears to what happened two minutes ago)
habitually late to almost everything
random facts: he's sort of superstitious (throws salt over his shoulder, avoids black cats)
personality: Sure he's smart, but he didn't ask to be. Before he skipped a grade, he used to take advantage of his smarts and flaunt his good grades. But, when he didn't get to be in classes with his friends anymore, he started slacking off. Skipping a grade just moved him closer to the real world, and he didn't like that. It was like they were forcing him to grow up and be in class with his brother. Yuck.

He thinks gay people are out to get him. that's why he's terrified of Sumomo, even though Momo is a freshman and he's a senior. He hates himself for liking daytime tv and soap operas because those things are for girls. But, he can't help but want to follow the dramas and that makes him wonder-- no, never in a million years! Girls are pretty, except they don't seem to like him very much. Is it the clothes?

He has a ton of notebooks throughout his room. All the time he's writing on something, describing the scenery, the people, his thoughts and feelings. He doesn't want to be a writer though. Everything he writes down is his own private thoughts and no one should be allowed to read them. It'd probably embarass the hell out of him anyway. But, among the writings are poems, stories and random journal entrees.

Other than those really aweful things that he tries to supress, he's a normal kid. All he wants to do is sleep late and not go to school. He wants to hang out with his friends and stay out late on Friday. That's why he tails along with his brother, probably annoying him to no end.

history:
JD was always a weird kid. Not weird enough to get bullied, but just enough to have only a small amount of friends. His childhood was rather uneventful and loveless. His father wass bent on making the wife happy and the wife was set on making her career. So, little JD was left to his own devices. Ironically enough, it was his laziness that made him the smart ass he is today. Why go exert himself when he could just as easily sat around inside and read? Whether it was an encyclopedia or a picture book, he read it, sounding out the big words slowly and using context clues to figure out what they meant. He was a regular scholar in school even though he had no drive to do well in it.

The only thing he liked was feeling smarter than the other kids. Being above the rest of his class made him feel special: like a somebody. He was always known as the smart one. Until the day he skipped a grade, he was on top. However, once he made that jump, he found himself right back at the bottom with no friends to speak of. Sure, he could keep up in the class, but there was even less drive than before because even though he was smart, he would never be the smartest. What was the point anymore? No one would be impressed with him when he got a hundred on a test. That elementary school satisfaction wouldn't get him anywhere.

Now, he doesn't try at all. If he happens to pay attention in class, he'll do well on that test. But most often you'll find him sleeping in a desk at the back of the room. Who cares how smart he is --or thinks he is? It doesn't really matter to him.
