martin and clair barron were both very successful residents of new york city before begining to have children. all truth be told, the couple hadn't intended on having kids at all they first got married because they were in love but then work got in the way of their lives. their first two daughters were twins and a short time afterwords came the youngest daughter. after the youngest was born however the couple decided that the city life wasn't a place to raise a family and moved to northwood.

this family is far from the stereotypical brady family, but like any northwood family, they’d like to believe different. max and leona are the quintessential couple of the small town. they strive to look and be the best. max is a lawyer and a damn good one at that. he never loses at anything he does. leona is the trophy wife, who spends more time at the getaway spa across the state than she does in northwood. but despite their ‘busy’ lifestyles, their priorities are to give their sons the best in life. well, their son. their oldest is the star of the show, the real shining light. he’s set to follow in his father’s footsteps, or so his parents would like to believe. instead, he wants to be the next ‘broadway star’ but believes the pressure from his parents won’t make his secret dream possible. the youngest brady is the one in the shadows. he’s the one everyone forgets to mention, the one that the girls never go for. he longs for a moment in his brother’s spotlight and envies him for the perfect life he leads. pity the boys weren’t close enough to realise that they have something in common… they both want each others lives.

the bennetts moved to northwood about four years ago and instantly became part of the town, it’s like they grew up here. jeffery and elizabeth packed up their family from salem, massachusetts after their eldest suffered a bit of trouble in school. Jeffery was offered a chief surgeons position at the local hospital in northwood and they saw it as a sign to start afresh. since then, their eldest has managed to settle in perfectly, although their youngest still chooses to be the ‘oddball’.

one of the more well known families in northwood are the carters. patrick carter owns a chain of gas stations around the united states which allows the two sons in this family to get whatever they want. margaret carter unfortunetly passed last summer after overdosing on pain killers, it was supposedly a mistake but the three sons know that she was always truely unhappy.

``the cruz's
rosalynn cruz has been an only mother most of her daughters life. no she wasn't a slut or a witto, her relationship just didn't work out. she had her daughter at sixteen years old and people never really looked at her the same again, including the father. so with that the single mother wanted to make a change with her baby and moved over to northwood where she didn't know anyone or anything but eventually wound up opening her own restauraunt and making a pretty great living in the small town.

well this wasn't always the happy go lucky family in town...as a matter of fact it still isn't. it's not so much the adults that argue as much as the kids do. well you see jane dalton's husband died a year after being shiped off to war while abraham nelsons wife left him for an alternet life in a completley different place. well dealing with the greif was hard but doing it alone was harder so when they found each other it was kind of like a plesant surprise, soon enough they fell for each other and give or take five months the couple was married.

``the dawsons
the dawson family have been lying low for the past few months after the ‘incident’ involving them over the summer. it was probably the most talked about incident in a long time and we all know what happens when something big happens in a small town… there’s nowhere to hide. obviously john and celia dawson were horrified at their son’s arrest, but truth be told, they were expecting it for some time. their son used to be a good kid, one of the brightest in his year. unfortunately, after getting introduced to some people at a party, he’d found himself in over his head. drugs, alcohol, theft.. you name it, he was involved. one party too many saw a young girl overdose, with the dawson boy holding the blame. luckily, she was alright and due to some family favours, the kid got a reduced sentence, six months juvenile hall, four with good behaviour. now he’s back in northwood and repeating junior year but things are different. he’s been labelled the ‘ex-junkie’ and people are staying clear of him, even his old friends. and what makes matters worse, he’s haunted by guilt every time he sees the young girl (kingston) who overdosed.

the edward family has been around northwood for generations and are pretty well known around town. even the parents of the house shannon and rodger grew up in the small town so it was only natural that they raised their own children there to. it wasn't until the oldest child turned five that the family came into some real money. rodgers father died and left everything to him, including his company that was worth millions of dollars. soon both parents became work and money addicts so they spent the rest of their time spoiling their children rotten to get them out of the way.

``the grays
the gray family have always been known for their love of privacy. for years they have been able to keep the gossips at bay when it came to their live and over this time, alex and julianne have become experts at keeping secrets hidden. to everyone’s knowledge in northwood, the grays gave their eldest daughter the chance to spend a year at the best boarding school in dublin, ireland. many of the northwood kids envied the girl’s opportunity to see one of the most historic cities. little did they know she was sent away for more sinister reasons. on the eve of her seventeenth birthday, she got a birthday present in the form of a positive pregnancy test. horrified, her parents forced her to skip country ‘to get rid of the problem without the town’s knowledge’. the grays did not believe in abortion, but instead believed adoption would fix things. a year later, their eldest has returned and the town, including the father, is none the wiser of the fact that she just had a baby, who lives with a family in dublin. and if that wasn’t enough for the grays, it looks like history is to repeat itself with their youngest, who thinks she too could be pregnant. but will she tell anyone in fear of getting shipped away?

``the harpers
the harper family tries to be as typical as any other family in town. bridget harper works as a school teacher in northwood elementry school while leo harper is a doctor, not a big one just the kind that works in the local hospital. together they've only got one daughter but what no one knew was that leo was having an affair with a woman and got her pregnant only a little while before getting his wife pregnant with their first child. now his daughter has found him and he insists on letting her connect with him and her newly found sibling, it's been causing some trouble between the family.

phillip hartt and alyson rose were two complete opposites when it came to personality and occupation. phillip (never phil) was the hard-headed, analytical, serious doctor, and alyson (always aly, or rather, aly-wals) was the free-spirited, independent, calm and collected aspiring author. both were kennebunk natives and it was a surprise to everyone in the close-knit town that the two of them tied the knot- but they did. they complemented each other perfectly, and the only thing they managed to quarrel over was how many children: phillip's shining single child or aly's six strongly-bonded sibling children. Well, they compromised. they moved to Northwood after phillip was transferred to a different hospital.

eddie and patricia jamison were both probably the most different people on the planet. patricia was classy and sophisticated and well rich. eddie was the complete opposite though, he was dirty and kinda sloppy and loved fixing cars more than anything. somehow the couple met and fell in love and wound up starting a family. they didn't know where to live though, eddie had a big family but not that big of a home. patricia had a small and rather rude family but a huge living space. so somehow they agreed on northwood.

``the jones'
born and raised in london, england, jones had set his sights for america since before he could remember. he lived with his mother and never knew his father. he was the reason he wished to come to the land of the free. his father never knew about him and all he wanted in the world was to meet the man he’d thought about forever. When he was eighteen and finished with school, he left his mother and went to new jersey with only the name of his father in his pocket. surely enough, the reuniting with his father wasn’t the memorable moment he expected, but at least they now knew each other existed. not all was lost, for jones is an musican and what better place to be than america, the land of opportunity. jones met in with a young boy (prescott) desperate for a reason to take a stand and now he finds himself in northwood, ohio sharing an apartment with his best friend. he’ll be the first to admit that northwood isn’t exactly the bright lights and glamour, but there’s something about it that has made him take a shine to the place. maybe it’s the locals, or the fact that his music is getting noticed, or maybe it’s down to the fact that he’s got an eye for his best friends sister.

the kamikis are originally from yokohama, japan but decided to uproot to northwood about five years ago and over time, the family has become quite known throughout the town. only child sumomo can be decribed as one of the popular freshmen, mainly because with him, what you see is what you get. since he was born, his mother has been set on treating him like girl, even though her husband was happy with having a son. from his parents' influence, momo tends to crossdress, adding to his overall unique persona. the kamikis currently have their niece staying with them. straight from japan, she speaks pretty good english, but there has always been that rivalry between them. it originated from mrs. kamiki's sister and theri sibling rivalry. they had strived to best each other in every regard from looks to intelligence. and so the hirano-kamiki battle continues.

another family that once had it all, but the turn of the times affected them. william and victoria were once proud of their strong family values and discipline. they were never strict parents to their only daughter, but they taught her that trouble would never go unpunished. their daughter was their shining light, their little angel. butter couldn’t melt, never mind wouldn’t. she was the straight A student, mary-sue type that could make anything golden with a single touch, or so it seemed. she felt trapped in her world of tea parties and dressup. she needed release, but her naivety got the better of her. at a party over the summer, she wanted to get out of her shell once and for all. after getting ridiculously drunk, she found herself in the situation of trying drugs, which she did without question. the young girl ended up overdosing and would have died if it wasn’t for some quick thinking by a young boy at the party. she soon came to in hospital only to find her disappointed parents looming and police needing answers. she wanted to tell the police that she took the drugs willingly and that the boy who was arrested wasn’t to blame, infact he saved her. but her parents made sure that wasn’t the case. instead, northwood now believe that she was spiked unknowingly by the dawson boy. she’s now secretly forced to take rehab sessions but all the while, she’s still desperate to get out of her ‘chains’ and she believes the dawson boy is the only one who can save her.

originally from colorado, the lineharts were one of the rush of new families to arrive in northwood thoughout the past few years. The lineharts have always been surrounded by art. Lillian is the artist and joseph is the business side and together, they owned a successful art gallery in colorado. two years ago, they wanted a new challenge and after joseph had gotten word that northwood was becoming a very artsy community, he insisted the family move there. the lineharts have settled in perfectly since the move. Joseph and lillian’s art gallery is popular and their kids are finding their own feet. Their eldest is the art teacher at school and their middle decided to take a different route and is manager of a local bar. Their youngest, the spoilt of the three, has just graduated and is currently pursuing his pottery career avidly with nothing but support and love from his parents.

the mansfields aren't really well known in the community. the mother is the only parent people actually see, especially if they have small children, owning the local day care. alan isn't seen often, being a detective for the local special victims unit in the police force. the kids are inseparable and keep in touch though jennafer has been all but disowned and her fraternal twin has a career as a kindergarten teacher, leaving the parents to wonder what the only son, seth is going to do with his life.

since his arrival in northwood, matthews has been creating a buzz. not only has he got that ‘hot shot reporter’ persona, along with his clean cut confidence but the young man has enough good looks to make even the happiest of married women swoon for his affection. one question on every girls mind; is this man taken? matthews has been keeping a low profile, which is making him even more appealing. but many are starting to ask why a young man from the city has decided to settle working at a two bit paper in a nowhere town? they’re trying to piece it together but are coming up with nothing, but the reason to that is simple. matthews is actually called jason kyle and was once a resident of northwood. the boy and his family moved when he was seventeen, after his girlfriend was the bright young student who died of alcohol abuse five years ago, causing this town to be like it is. but why has he returned, hiding his identity? he is lucky that he’s changed from his days of adolescence but a small town never forgets names. Is he back to seek revenge on the town that killed his childhood sweetheart or will he be the one to restore normality?

the marrens are the latest new family to reside in northwood. originally from england, the family moved to the small town to benefit single parent samantha marren’s photography career. a year on and eldest son david is starting to fit into the small town america lifestyle. on the other hand, all his younger sister wants is to liven up this lifeless place and she will do anything to do so. for the next year, dave is happy to announce that his best friend and cousin from back home is coming to northwood, whether or not he stays for longer is up to him.

although the family is quite popular in town now they didn't always live in northwood or have some big thing go on to make them noticed or something. the family is just all around likeable, in this town anyways. truth is they moved to northwood because their only son's best friend was hit by a car and died back when he was only a kid. in attempts to get the tragedy off their minds they moved to this town but the couple over protects their son way to much because they feel he's still bruised by this.

derek and amy are that of a long line of northwood prescotts. one of the oldest families in town, the prescotts are part of northwood history. there is obviously a lot to live up to. derek is one of ohio states leading surgeons and despite the travel, loves his life. amy is in the same profession, but works at the local hospital in northwood. medicine is what the prescott kids know and what they are expected to do. the oldest is currently at princeton studying medicine ofcourse, but he’s not happy. ever since meeting his best friend jones, he’s on a trip of self-discovery. disowned by his parents, he’s dropped out of college and has come back to where it all began in order to find himself. his sister has always been the quiet one. she’s always been said to be too mature for her age. truth is, the girl is as free spirited as they come. she sees her brother’s choice not as a disappointment, but as an inspiration. she wants to live life the best way she can.. free.

probably the richest family in town, the sanders own more than half of all the companys being runned in northwood which means they get most of the profits. the couple never intended on having a big family because they simply knew they didn't have the time but after they had their first son and realized how completley lonely he was they had another baby, which lead to another two. yes they spoil their kids so much that they actually have more kids for them, thats love.

the warrens are popular in northwood. they've got a lot of friends in the community and make new friends easily. their only vice, the parents tend to push their seventeen year old daughter a bit too hard, while the cousins who live with them since their parents' deaths don't get it at all. it adds a bit of tension in the house, but they act as if nothing is wrong.

``the whites
it’s funny how people can spend hours with someone and not really know them. many people know of white and are friendly with her but they don’t know her. they may know her favourite bands and what she likes to do on saturdays but they don’t know that she has no parents. well, she has no parents in northwood anyway. who knows if she has parents at all, she likes to keep that quiet. truth is, she gives people the impression her life is sorted. she’s able to do what she wants when she wants it because she has no curfew. she doesn’t even have a home to speak of. the sixteen year old is currently bunking down in the old unused lifeguard shed at the very bottom of the beach. she never complains though, she’s happy with what she has. no fuss, no commitments... just herself.

the young boys have had it pretty bad in their life. when their parents died ten years ago, they found themselves at the beginning of a foster home journey. the boys were lucky enough to get kept together which made their relationship stronger. town after town, each family had their reasons to give the boys back. the eldest is a handful, always getting into trouble. he has a wall built up that most families don’t have the patience to break. the youngest is the quieter of the two and smarter than most his age. he acts more mature than any sixteen year old would be able to, but sometimes it comes across as ‘know it all’ . the boys seem to have hit it big in northwood. it’s been their longest stay to date and despite the usual problems, things are looking good for them. but will it last?
