So, I've been recruited to sketch out concepts by Shoresome, and I was pretty excited to get down to it.

So I decided to start a sort of 'sketchbook' up here to show you all how [my] conceptualizing process works, and allow for feedback or suggestions.

So I guess I'll begin.

So I've been working on the Asfaren lately. I have a thing for [strikethrough]dinosaurs, lizards, dragons,[/strikethrough] sci-fi intellignet lizards. I wanted to keep them less humanoid.

Also, since they're supposed to be the same species, but completely different depending on their job, I wanted to keep a continuity to them. Tried to keep the head shape similar, but mainly I wanted a morphed look of the same lizard. So things I tried to keep the same in each design:

-omniverious (eyes set in front/a little to the sides, plus appropriate teeth)
-display scale on cheek
-'serrated' spine. Small spikes along spine, plates along back.
-head shape somewhat similar
-structure phalanges/metacarpals/tarsals similar

References used are mainly iguanas and skinks. Obviously some dinosaurs, and a little bit of croc. I wanted them to have flat heads like skinks, bu apparenly I have a problem drawing a flat head, they just look so unintelligent like that.

Also when I do more sketches, I think I'll make them more spikey. They look too simple, but then again as servants, that may be what the admins want.

First design I drew was actually an idea of a 'messenger' type. Kind of like a messenger pidgeon bot repeats messages like a parrot. As the Zorvik have a hive mind it seemed to me they would have little use of communication, so possibly their way of communicating with other species or simply other Zorvik would be a little more 'primitive'. Or possibly when communications via a techonolgical device are threatened to be intercepted, these guys could be used instead, and save radiowaves.

Or possibly they could be just 'pets', decorative creatures. I haven't thought of color/makrings much yet.

Ah, and a random Ylia's head in the corner, still playing with the design that Kularian liked. This should be an adolescent.

Smaller size since I'm not too fond of this page.

Just some designs for a heavyset transport type. Or plowing fields, what-have-you. Type A may be ridable. Horse and hippo references used.

I like Type B's design better.

A quick sketch I did during a slow period at work for a 'servant' type. Household of just a little shadow to help out a more distinguished individual.

Gave the iguana claws aposable thumbs. Also as I was drawing it I felt the pelvis would be a little strangely shaped, as the animal was bred to be either a quadruped or bipedal, so also considering it walks on its heels, it'd have an endearing waddling gait. Head's a little too raptor-ish, but i think my head was telling me I was missing those sleek dinosaurs I usually stick to.

I may move on to more battle-oriented Asfaren soon. Just stay tuned?

Anyway feel free to comment in this thread please, in fact it's encouraged.

I shall play one, and it shall incite an uprising, and it will be beautiful.

I really suck at art... but I think they're all amazing... usually people say that they can draw and they kinda can, but this is a whole other level of awesome.

I want the one that is asking Obi Wan for help... my own little dino-esque princess Leia!

Well done.

The Ylia head threw me off at first, but once I read the comment, all was right again, tongue.gif (The head looks good, by the way, ^^ )

I rather like how you did make them all look similar, despite the fact that they all evolved differently and such. They do still look like the same species, which is something that I definitely wanted, and you managed to hit that right on the head, ^^

I really don't much of a need for the messenger ones, but they look sweet, and I can't really say no to them, tongue.gif I suppose, though, if you design battle-ready Asfaren, who operate independently of the Zorvik on the battlefield, they could come in handy.

Could even have warrior Asfaren riding on Asfaren mounts, with the messengers running back and forth and such.

Small nit-picks: The bodies of the flying ones seem a little thick to be able to fly, but that's just me. The solid four-leggers seem to be good, and the lightweight two-leggers seem to have rather spindly legs, but again, these are just minor details that could be changed, but don't have to be, ^^

Again, very good job, and we're all in your debt, ^^

Wow for some reason I didn't even think of an uprising. And I was thinking on playing a Zorvik... I'll watch my back, eh?

Haha someone caught the Leia quote. I dunno, my brain makes connections. Sci-fi RPG,> messenger animal,> messenger driod,> R2-D2,> strange crossover.

And asferen mounts with asfaren riders? Agh that's a cool idea.

And yeah I feel the legs look awkward since it walks on its heels. I image it to walk a but like a duck with such big feet.

Things are going a little slower than I expected due to some issues at home, but I'm still drawing!

So a quickie.

A medium heavy battle/soldier type. Obviously resorts to melee attacks. It ended up looking a bit like The Lizard with a manicure problem, but ah well. Maybe we'll start calling him Kurt.

Major problems with the anatomy here, that should be ignored. : P

I need to get to work on my own character now... it's just there's so many places to start from! Too many ideas.
