Hiya,
There is a new Sainsburys store in High Wycombe that opened on Wednesday. I popped in to check it out and the car park had barriers and I was given a card. I parked up in a dedicated bike bay and did some shopping but did not go to the ticket machine to pay as I felt that bikes should be free as they are in every car park in Wycombe. On leaving I handed the young guy the card which of course did not work and he asked if I had paid, I said no and that surely bikes were free so rather than have a traffic jam he let me through. When I got home I emailed Sainsburys to ask if they were charging for bike parking. I have just received a phone call to say that they are and the cost will be the same as a car but that a suggestion for free bike parking would be put forward at the next review. Thing is they have not thought this out, there is no gap in the barriers so it would be difficult to get a bike through. Pretty poor state of affairs. What can I do next? Is it worth writing to the local paper? Any ideas gratefully received. All the best, ride safe. Tony Murphy |
