Hi All,

My apologies for not being onsite much of late. Having been involved with three art societies and four exhibitions since June, I have not had much time for actual painting although I have learned much from my observations of other artists' work and of their presentation by means of framing and mounting. This has assisted me to sell three of my paintings during this period which is encouraging.

Some of you may remember this scene, which was my first attempt at an acrylic painting in 2005. As you know, I normally paint in watercolour and oil pastel.

The scene was composed from my own photographs taken on a misty morning. As a result, my painting was lacking in tone and I received much helpful advice which I appreciated. I did say at that time that when I next used acrylic paints I would try to improve the overall effect and, hopefully, I have done this below.

Original painting:

Revised painting:

Painted on Fine Grain Paper primed for Acrylic Painting 235gsm
Painting size: 12" x 8"

As always I would appreciate your comments.

Best regards,
Pierre

Hi Pierre I do recall this one. You have greatly improved on your revised version. These a lot more depth in your painting with the stronger colours. The foliage and fencing looks amazing. I agree with Jane's WOW comment. Excellent painting mate. The acrylics are really starting to work for you. Well done mate :clap :wow :wow :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap

Hi Jane, Hala, Rose, Marilyn, Daisie and Graham,

My sincere thanks to you all for your kind comments. I found the acrylic paints easier to use this time around so hopefully will do some more.

Graham, In reply to your query, I painted over the original painting having had a giclée print made of the original for my records. I have a local printer who is very helpful in this respect.

As I have mentioned before, I have giclée prints of all my paintings and in fact have now sold several framed prints. It does of course provide you with a copy after you have sold the original painting, in fact, I find the giclée print so good that even as the artist I cannot tell the difference!

Best regards,
Pierre

Hi Pierre,

That's a great idea. What is the best way to keep a print of graphite drawings?

Thanks,
daisie

Hi Pierre your mos t welcome mate. I looked into the giclée print when we spoke of it last time and never got back to you about it. After a very long search I managed to fine only one place in Melbourne that had heard of it and did it. But due to the fact they were the only company they charged like a wounded bull. One print at A4 size was going to coast me $95.00. So I deleted their website and pretended I never read it before. I must buy one of my posters of my shop and see what their quality is though.
