__in dreams we enter a world that's entirely our own Name: Sirius Orion Black Nicknames: Sirius, Padfoot, Pads, Paddy, Snuffles, Black and a lot of other things Gender: Male Age: 17 Year: Seventh Birthday: February 6th, 1960 House: Gryffindor Wand: 12 1/4 inches, oak, phoenix feather Blood Status: pureblood, not that it matters Sexual Orientation: very straight
__time is making fools of us again Hair: dark black hair that's always falling in his eyes. Eyes: dark gray Height: 6'1 Weight: somewhere around 160 lbs. Build: He's built strong, with pretty broad shoulders. He is no muscle man, but he can definitely hold his own. Distinguishing Features: One notable quirk to his appearance would be the nearly jagged looking scar on the inside of his left arm. Sirius gained this in from an angry duel with his brother at the very end of his previous year. Plus side? Girls like the look of danger. Personal Style: Unlike his nearly flawless physical attributes, Sirius doesn’t dress to match. Like most teenage boys, he doesn’t really care. He doesn’t want to look terrible, but you’d never see him in anything resembling a suit unless it was forced upon him, and even that would be saying something. He prefers the laid back approach in that arena. He’ll wear muggle tee shirts and jeans and occasionally his robes, but he never puts too much effort into it. Thank Merlin for him, he doesn’t need to, being so good looking.
Overall Appearance: When Sirius walks into a room, all of the ladies (and of course, a few of the guys) notice. There’s the obvious reason being that he’s really tall, standing at 6’1 (and counting? who knows!) but then the other fairly obvious reason, he’s good looking. Some girls would say the best of the Gryffindor boys, and others, like over-excited third year girls, would perhaps say the best in all of Europe. Even Sirius would admit that that was going a little far, but even he was aware of his dashing appearance.
The aforementioned “dashing appearance” could best be described in a cliché, harlequin romance fashion:
Sirius Black was a very tall young man, and well built as well. His strong arms looked just perfect to be held in, pressed up against his solid chest. If you were to look up into his eyes while in this embrace, you’d see dark gray eyes, smoldering with some sort of intense want. But if you were to look into them any other time, they’d be clear as a gray sky could be, unless he was laughing, or teasing a friend. Then they’d be sparkling with glee. And if he was angry, or feeling dangerous, they’d grow dark, and narrow with distrust. At which time your ex lover had probably arrived (causing this distrust) and therefore-
You get the point. Sirius is handsome, dashing and any other attractive synonym you can come up with, enough to be the character in one of those trashy books that some Hufflepuff girls read. He’s the stereotypical “tall, dark and handsome” that girls love. He’s got the hair: dark black hair that rests about an inch under his ears, and falls into his eyes very easily without looking awkward. When life is going fine, his hair is usually well kept and clean (though that's not to say in place!), but when things aren't going well, when he is feeling depressed, his hair may grow out, unkempt and dirty. This means he usually has a lot of other things more important than hygiene on his mind.
See, even just his hair says so much. But his face says more: Sirius has the classic Black looks, haughty, the face of a pure bred man who got the best of the batch. His skin is free of blemish, for the most part, anyway, and when he smiles the corners of his mouth crease, his smile looking like it could have easily been painted on by Michelangelo or something. It shows that he is a pure blooded black, even if he could care less about that. The only thing that sets him apart from his family in looks would be the brightness that shines in his eyes and in his smile. Not all of the Blacks have that.
Unlike his nearly flawless physical attributes, Sirius doesn’t dress to match.
And on the last note, one notable quirk to his appearance would be the nearly jagged looking scar on the inside of his left arm. Sirius gained this in from an angry duel with his brother at the very end of his previous year. Plus side? Girls like the look of danger.
__the mind is a complex and many-layered thing
Likes: [-] Girls: Sirius finds girls to be a fun distraction, and he is just a plain hormonal teenager. Since Sirius likes to show off, he finds girls to be the perfect opportunity to do so, and he also loves a challenge. Plus, Sirius really is just a people person.
[-] Pranks: Sirius has the most fun and feels the most alive when he's with his friends in the middle of a prank. He loves every step, from the mere idea to the outcome, even the punishment at times. It's all just plain fun for him.
[-] The other three marauders: After growing up without any real friends or family, these three boys were like the ultimate prize. Sirius doesn't have anyone but his three best friends and he feels truly blessed to be lucky enough to have them at all. They know him so well and they have the most fun together. He trusts them with his life and he'd lay down his own for any of them.
[-] Food: The perfect way for Sirius to end his day is in the Great Hall feasting. He stuffs whatever he can right on into his mouth without a care or other thought. He's just living in the moment, like he always loves to do.
[-] Quidditch: Whether he's watching the game or playing the game, Sirius can't get enough of it. It's the adrenaline rush that you get from both the watching and the play that keeps him coming back. Plus, Sirius just loves pretty much any form of fun and games.
[-] Being the center of attention: He thrives under it, he loves the spotlight. If it didn't take so much damn effort, he's probably try a hand at acting. When the attention is on him, Sirius simply lights up and acts out even more. It probably comes from his lack of attention from his family when he was young. Well, lack of positive attention, anyway.
[-] Being in on a secret: It makes him feel special, part of something. It's an honor for him to hold a secret on his shoulders, knowing that he is trusted with it. He'd never dream of telling anyone, but Sirius is a very rash person, so that doesn't always fair well with a secret, now does it? Dislikes: [-] Slytherins: Growing up in a family full of them while having his beliefs be the total opposite did a number on him. Sirius can't stand Slytherins because of the way he is and was treated by them, how the treat others, and what they seem to represent. Sirius has trouble seeing a Slytherin for anything other than a Slytherin.
[-] Serious people and party poopers: Sirius always loves to party it up and have as much fun as possible. Any time someone is bringing down his mood he doesn't like it. All he wants to do is have some fun, why can't they go and read somewhere else?
[-] Homework and Class: Sirius feels like he can learn all the stuff he learns in a much more fun matter, like jinxing Snape and swirling him around the room too. He wants to have fun, not sit inside all day while it's perfect for pranking!
[-] Filch: He's always getting in Sirius' way and trying to bring down the fun. Sirius sees him as a Squib who's a Slytherin and a party pooper too. The thing that sucks with him? He can make you scrub the trophy room for five or six hours...and everyone knows he'd rather see you hanging from shackles in the dungeons Best Traits: [-] Extremely loyal.
[-] Fearless.
[-] His sense of humor.
[-] Resolute Worst Traits: [-] His stubbornness
[-] Fearless
[-] Rash behavior
[-] His lack of seriousness with school Strengths: [-] pranking
[-] dueling
[-] making people smile Weaknesses: [-] following the rules
[-] paying attention in class
[-] admitting defeat Fears: [-] Losing those he loves.
[-] Being alone forever.
[-] Losing his inner joy. Gets along with: Sirius can get along with most anybody as long as they are nice and like to have fun. Yes, this means if you are a boring bookworm he probably won't talk to you. That's not to say he'll be a prick or anything, he just wouldn't find you all that exciting. But if he does end up chatting with you, he always tries his best to get to know you and you him. Except if you are a Slytherin. There is no way in hell he will give you the time of day. It's like the kiss of death to him. If you're a Gryffindor, however, he'll be even more open with you and probably enjoy himself more just because he just feels more at home with you. Where he enjoys himself best, though, is with his three amigos, his fellow marauders. He can tell them most anything and has the time of his life with them. There's nothing he wouldn't do for them and it goes both ways.
Overall Personality: Some people see Sirius Black and they think snobby. Others see him and they think foolish. The Slytherin house sees him and they think blood traitor. Most people have some sort of opinion on him and half of those "most" don't even take the time to find out if they're right. Those who do, though, find a much different person than what everyone else makes him out to be.
If you met him at some random inter-house party, you'd see him as the fun guy, the party dude. He'd be laughing it up around a bunch of people, telling some joke before downing a something that's probably spiked. Depending on the type of person you are, you'd either desperately want to join the crowd and have a laugh, or not want to, thinking that you might not be able to keep up. Either way, you'd notice him.
The classroom is another side of things. Sirius always can be found to the right of James, at their little table in the back of the room. Usually he's sleeping, softly snoring while he drools on the parchment meant for notes. When he isn't napping, there's only one thing he could possibly be doing and that's causing trouble. Sirius hates class, so if he's awake he finds anyway he can to disrupt it. This often ends in a detention the following night. But to Sirius, throwing wads of parchment through Professor Binn's transparent head was definitely worth the two hour long detention issued to him by McGonagall via information given in by an irritated Ravenclaw. While everyone else is snickering, the Ravenclaws or Slytherins are usually the spoil sports to Sirius' in class craziness.
You can divide people's opinions on Sirius pretty easily. If you were in Slytherin, you'd think that he was a blood traitor and that was all that matters. Ravenclaw, simply an annoying idiot (though the Slytherins probably would think this too). If you were a Hufflepuff, you probably love him, apart from when he's pranking little first years. And the answer for Gryffindor is so obvious it won't even be stated. If you're a girl in any of these houses you are either totally taken in by his charm or completely disgusted by how fast he goes through girls. Then, from a professor standpoint, it's pretty much a love/hate relationship. When you get away from all of these opinions and stereotypes, and you get down to who Sirius is to those who actually know him, you'll find a lot more.
If the other three Marauders were to get together and write down who they think Sirius is, it would probably read something like this:
Sirius is fiercely loyal and cares more than anything for his loved ones, he'd go to the ends of the earth for them. He is so loyal that it can be taken to the edge of recklessness, much like most anything in his life. He doesn't think in the heat of a situation, which almost always turns out with rash behavior on his part. He can be very hotheaded, and always up for a challenge. Sirius is a guy who is mainly driven by emotion, good or bad. He is extremely spirited, and very determined when the time calls for it.
He loves to have as much fun as possible, and there are no rules in his book of fun. Sirius is a goofy guy who loves to have a good laugh with his friends. He's someone who lives for those little moments but he can't help but hype himself up for the giant ones. He has a Peter Pan attitude mostly because his actual childhood wasn't that great. Sometimes he can be cocky, usually when trying to entice a girl. Many people who don't really know him might say that he's a guy that would ditch all of his friends for a girl, but really he's more likely to forget he had a date because he was out pranking with the boys. The next time he'd see the girl he'd probably have no idea why she was mad.
Sirius is a trustworthy person who just loves life, even when he screws it up sometimes like the dunderhead he is. Sirius also has strong opinions and is very stubborn in his ways. One subject he's stubborn on is homework and class and the fact that he doesn't find it to be very important, so he doesn't bother to apply himself as much as he could. Another way he's stubborn is that he can't not pick on those he considers to be beneath him. This probably has something to do with the way his parents brought him up. As much as he hates everything they're about, he can't help that some parts of them have stuck with him.
While he picks on others, he never really picks on his friends. No, with them, that's called teasing, and it's a form of affection. Which, for his fellow Marauders, he has immense amounts of this. They’re his family, and he only really cares what they think of him, and not all the others. With them, he’s the truest form of himself and he’s happy. And that’s all Sirius really wants, just like everyone else, to be happy. He wants to fill his life up with awesome experiences and amazing people, even though those amazing people will probably drive him into doing extremely senseless, rash mistakes. But hey, he’ll have the best intentions.
__it does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live
Boggart: It would be him losing his loved ones, and it being his fault. Patronus: Sirius' patronus, much like his animagus form, is a big scruffy black dog, much like a grim. Except cuddly. Mirror of Erised: If Sirius were to look in the mirror he'd see himself surrounded by a family who loves him, along with his friends. He'd been glowing with happiness and pride and contentment. The future he'd never have. Amortentia: [-]fireplace [-]dewy grass [-]butterbeer [-]strawberries
__where your treasure is, there will your heart be also
Alliegance: Very, very strongly, the Order. Mother: Walburga Black; mother; 53; alive Mother's Occupation: Being a bitch Nothing whatsoever. Spends her days ordering all around and screaming obscenities to those she feels deserve it. She's rich, she could never imagine herself actually WORKING. Father: Orion Black; father; 49; alive Father's Occupation: Orion is well off enough not to need to work at all, and he doesn't. But yet he is still a busy man, whatever it is that he does, wherever he runs off to. Siblings: Regulus Black; brother; 16; alive Other Relatives: Maternal Family: Pollux Black; grandfather, maternal; deceased Irma (Crabbe) Black; grandmother, maternal; deceased Cygnus Black; uncle, maternal; 49; alive Druella (Rosier) Black; aunt, maternal Alphard Black; uncle, maternal Bellatrix Black; cousin, maternal; 18; alive Andromeda Black; cousin, maternal; 18; alive Narcissa Black; cousin, maternal; 17; alive
Paternal Family: Arcturus Black; grandfather, paternal; 77; alive Melania (MacMillan) Black; grandmother, paternal; deceased Lucretia Black; aunt, paternal; alive
Then there's more, either covered up due to past indiscretions or simply not important enough to mention. Although Sirius wouldn't call any of these people listed his family, save one or two. And the same really goes both ways. Pets: A barn owl named Gary
History: Sirius Orion Black was born on the sixth day of the second month of the year 1960. He was born into a family of people that he grew very distant from. His family, the Black family, is one of the most prominent, prestigious Pure Blooded families you can find in the Wizarding World these days. They have a very long, rich history, which overlaps with most all of the other pure blooded families of the day. Their supreme belief is total purity of blood, as their motto, which can be seen at the bottom of their crest (a chevron with two five pointed stars and a short sword between two greyhounds) is Toujours pur ("always pure" in French). This family is all documented on a family tapestry, and any time a member scorns the family in anyway (like marrying a muggle), they are burned right of as if they were never a part to begin with. Even having different beliefs is enough for total hatred and abandonment. Sirius' parents, Walburga and Orion, tried to imbed these beliefs into their son from an early age. Lullabies held lines like "pure is power" and "purity is royalty" that tried to instill the code that being pure blooded was the only way to live. His parents grilled their it deep into him that he was better than everyone else and that there were certain people that weren't even worth his gaze. But even at the age of six years old Sirius knew something didn't sound right. There was something in that scrawny little boy that just said "This is stupid". In fact, one day as the age of eight years, while his father was prattling on about "dirty mudbloods", he yelled out "Bollox!" and then ran off to his room. His little six year old brother, Regulus, sneered at him as he ran past, hissing, "Mudblood lover!" The following years were much the same, only much harsher in some ways for Sirius. His parents were always trying to push him in the "right direction" as they would say, "to succeed". He never would listen though, and that made a very big difference in the long run.
When Sirius made it to Hogwarts, he entered the Great Hall full of fear, even though he put on a brave face and pretended it was all a joke to him. He longed to be placed anywhere but Slytherin, but at the same time he knew that that's the only place Blacks were ever placed. When his name was called there were already a few claps from the Slytherin table, and he looked behind to see. His cousins sat with smirks and sneers, while others grinned. But of course, he was placed in Gryffindor, and all he could do was smile. The table of lions roared with mixed feelings. Of course he joined the "enemy". From that day on his family turned their backs on him almost completely. If it wasn't for three little boys that he sat with that first day, who knows what could've happened. His best friends were what pushed him through each year, each summer. James was his number one, his brother. Everything Sirius was supposed to hate he loved, he couldn't have been happier.
Sirius' first four years at Hogwarts were brilliant in so many ways. For once in his life he was really happy, he joked more than ever before and he truly came alive. Under the stone walls of Hogwarts Sirius felt free to become truly the type of person he wanted to be, no matter what his family said or who they were. With his three comrades, James, Remus and Peter, he was an unstoppable Marauder. They roamed the halls and took over the school. In the years of Hogwarts it seemed Sirius just knew it was his time to really live and he wasn't going to waste it.
The following year, Sirius' fifth, the Marauders came together to do great things. They'd found out some time before about their fellow marauder's dangerous plight. He was a werewolf. But James, Sirius and Peter would stop at nothing to make sure that he wouldn't have to endure the monthly pain alone. They became animagus. Sirius took the form of a great, scruffy black dog. Lovably and fierce, just like he was normally. And not only during this year did they achieve that great high, but they also created an interactive map of the whole entire school, which showed them what every single person was doing in every single spot of the castle. It came in extremely handy when pranking. And of course, the called it The Marauders Map.
Fifth year ended and the summer started. Which called for Sirius finally skipping out on the family he didn't consider his own. He fled for James Potter's house, and they took him in with warmth. The rest of the summer went on to be one of the best he'd ever had, being that he never had to wake up in a place he hated. And when it came to a close, the excitement still lingered. The only thing he wasn't looking forward to in the coming year was running into any family members. By now they all knew what had happened and were sure to be even more loathsome than before. What did he care, though? He'd happily consider them strangers. And when Sirius did make it to Hogwarts, he found it incredibly easy to do so. Sure, there were run ins, that's undeniable, but for the first time Sirius felt like he wasn't tied to them. He was his own man, his last name only that: a name.
Seventh year was on its way now, and it was sure to be the best year yet, even with the future looming over his head. But he was ready, ready to be on his own, out in the world. He was excited, part of him wanting to speed up, and the other to slow down. He couldn't wait to get on the train.
