Please read carefully through all of these rules. Failure to do so will result in your character being declined. Furthermore, any violations of these rules will result in a warning or, if necessary, a more serious punishment, such as being banned altogether from the site.
On Registering and Applying
1. Please register BEFORE you apply with your character’s first and last name. Include a space and proper capitalization.
Ex. Sirius Black, not siriusblack, SiRiuS BlaCk, or zomgiluvsirius
2. Do not slack on your application. It is what defines whether or not you will be accepted. You must meet the pre-set requirements in each section. Saying that you write much longer posts and suck at applications will not be tolerated. Work hard.
3. You may have as many characters as you can handle. In order to get a new character, your current one must have at least 20 IN CHARACTER posts. If you have more than one character and an admin notes that some of them are inactive, you will receive a warning and your character may be deleted.
On the Application
1. You should post your application in the forum titled 'Character Application'. Applications posted anywhere else will be ignored/deleted.
2. Your character may not be any type of magical creature. (veela, elf, centaur, etc.)
3. Canon characters were created by JK Rowling. You may not stray from these characters in any way, shape, or form. (ex. Saying that James occasionally likes to dye his hair pink or that Sirius really did like his family is not acceptable.) Stick to the character or your application will be denied.
4. On that note, your original character may not take on the characteristics of any canon. Mini Sirius clones will not be accepted. They are called original characters for a reason. Be original!
5. Your character may not be perfect. Everyone has some flaws. No Mary-Sues will be accepted.
6. If you have an original character, DO NOT write, hint, or suggest what house you wish to be in. WE will sort you according to the information you give.
7. If your character is denied, you will have two more chances to edit your application and try again.
8. After you character is accepted, you will have SEVEN days to make at least one in character post. If you do not, your account will be deleted due to inactivity.
9. PLEASE PM an admin when you are accepted to request the password for your house. This makes it easier for us to keep track of who we've sent it to.
On the Face Claim
1. After your character is accepted, please post in the face claim so no playby mishaps occur.
2. Please use a reasonable playby for your character, as in no 40-year-olds playing 14-year-olds.
3. You are allowed to change your playby if you wish.
4. No offensive content in your signatures please. That’s pretty much self-explanatory.
5. Please keep the size of your signature within reason. It should not stretch the board at all.
On Roleplaying and Posting
1. Please make your posts a reasonable length. No one-liners will be accepted. You will receive a warning. Also, as much as we encourage creativity, please don’t post a novel. Keep posts within reason.
2. This is a literate/advanced site. Please keep posts in well structured paragraphs. No, two sentences is not a paragraph.
3. Your posts must have at least two paragraphs. Each paragraph must be well structured, like it says above, and have at least four sentences. Your thread will be warned if you are not meeting this requirement and possibly deleteed if you do not fix the problems.
4. Use proper quotes, italics, or other method to show when your character is speaking or when responding to another character’s quote.
5. Watch yourself for spelling and grammar mistakes. We all make typos, but if you catch anything, please change it. “The edit button is your friend.” (Please post that under secret sentence in your application.)
6. Please do not discriminate against people who want to join your open threads. If you want to reserve a thread for a certain member or character, please put that in the thread description. Likewise, respect reserved threads, and do not post in them unless it is reserved for you.
7. Please respect the younger audiences on our site. If your thread will involve any sexual or violent content, please put an M for Mature in the title description.
On Being Active
1. Please don't apply if you feel that you will not be active. Here, active means being online at least one day a week, as well as making at least two in character posts per week.
2. If you have a canon character, we will expect a bit more activity, because the canons are crucial to many plots that we may have going on.
3. We have now started to issue activity checks that will take place at the end of the month. If you fail to post in an activity check, you will receive an e-mail, and from that point you will be given three days to respond. If you do not, your character, relations page, and any other threads will be moved to the archives and your account will be deleted.
4. If you come back to the site to find that your character has been deleted, you may notify an admin, who will gladly move your topics back to their original spots. However, you must provide a valid reason for your inactivity. ('I forgot' is NOT a valid reason.)
5. If you will not be able to get online for a period of time, please post to let us know in the Absences forum. If you are absent during an activity check but have posted in the Absences forum, your characters and accounts will be safe.
DON’T:
• Advertise any sites anywhere other than in the advertisement board. Do not advertise crude or pornographic sites.
• Fight in ooc or in the c-box. If you must, keep it within PMs.
• Plagiarize material from this site or any other site. If you are caught plagiarizing, you will be banned.
• Violate these rules in any way.
DO:
• Have fun. That’s what this site is for.
• Respect your admin and fellow members.
• Make friends.
How to act
• No bigotry or discrimination will be tolerated on this site. This includes but is not limited to sexists, racists, and other prejudices.
• Do not spam anywhere on this site. Nonsense posts will not be tolerated anywhere, so do not attempt to raise your post count by posting random letters. Also, spamming in the c-box will not be tolerated.
• Please do not fight anywhere on the board. Involvement in a fight of any sort will result in a warning or permanent ban.
