WELCOME

Over a thousand years ago the four greatest witches and wizards of the age banded together to create a safe haven for those who possessed magical power. The castle, known to all as Hogwarts, became not just a place of safety, but one of the greatest magical schools of all time. However the castle has many secrets in its past, most of which have not been uncovered. And now one of those secrets, dating back to the very founding of the school, has discovered the modern era. The Founders had prayed this dark chapter of their lives would be lost...but such prayers are never answered. Welcome to What Lies Within. Are you ready for the year to come?

TEA AND BISCUITS, PLEASE!

SOFIE + VICTOIRE

The new school year has brought quite a few changes - new headmaster, a full time Ministry Inspector, new prefects, new quidditch captains...and a new Professor Malloy. Obviously everyone is going to have to adjust to the fact that grouchy Potions Master married the vivacious Care of Magical Creatures - including the newlyweds who have discovered that by the school year's end there will be a little Malloy. Luckily for Victoire this gives her a chance to work with a pre-natal patient during her practical healing placement rather than when she returns to London for an actual job. A nice conversation about reading for the time being, but with Vic's worries buried under the surface and Sofie's filler completely off due to hormones...this could go anywhere.

Out of all of the items she'd taken from the Moor Twin's hidden trunk only the bag labelled "dungbombs" didn't require any explanation. Well the bomb part was unfamiliar but the Entitty certainly knew what dung was! Which meant it would be the perfect thing to spring upon the house of Stuffy Prince and Mean Girl. She would certainly say sorry to Headmaster boy later - he actually talked to her! - but hopefully this would be the last time she had to do something mean and drastic in order to make the Green Man's ruffians actually be polite to her the next time they saw or talked about her. However there was one major flaw in the plan - many of the rooms had girls with golden hair (like Mean Girl's) and with the weird metal pins and weird tubes some of them wore while sleeping - it looked about as comfortable as the cauls and headpieces she'd seen the older girls wear the last time she had been awake - made it hard to tell which one was actually the girl she did not like. And she didn't want to hit the wrong girl. Not helping matters was the fact that Headmaster Boy and Stuffy Prince slept in the same room.

Sighing in frustration, she sat on the floor and contemplated the best course of action before her eyes say the ropes on the curtains (though why there were windows underground was beyond her) and an empty shopping bag. Grinning, the Entity poured half the contents of her first bag into the shopping bag and then stole the rope. Clapping the rope tied around the bags and hoisted them over the doors of Stuffy Prince's and Mean Girl's rooms so that the first person to open the door would drop the bag to the floor. Having only opened the bag to split the contents, she knew it was going to stink to high heaven...and the two she didn't like would get the bame. It was perfect! (So long as Headmaster Boy didn't wake up and leave the room first.) I should warn him. I don't want him to get smelly. Popping into Headmaster Boy's room she checked each bed until she was sure she had the right one - another had very dark hair but his face wasn't as nice. "Pst, Headmaster boy." she whispered into his ear. "When you wake up, let Stuffy Prince go out the door first." She repeated the instruction several times until one of the boys made a noise and rolled over.

Not wanting to get caught, she poofed out back to her home now that all of the pieces were set. Sitting for a moment on a cushion on her floor she collected her strength, zapped from so much popping and work. Once she felt betting she sent the pulse that would awaken the gifts in the school - as well as the stolen alarm clocks hidden in the Yellow Den and the Green Room. Everyone needed to be awake to appreciate just what had been done and then they could all laugh together. And maybe, just maybe, someone would ask to play and they could have a day of fun rather than everyone else having a day of school. I can't wait to hear what everyone thinks!

Something about this dream seemed different.

It took Albus a couple of minutes to wake up enough to figure out what it was that was different before he realised that he was awake. At least, he was pretty sure he was. There had been the night before O.W.L. results when he'd 'woken up' at least three different times to varying grades and when it had finally been the right one had needed to check with his Mum that this was in fact real life now. She had given him a bit of a weird look.

Surreptitiously, under his duvet, Albus pinched the inside of his knee where his hand rested as he lay curled in the foetal position. There was definitely some pain coming from that. But that voice was very close to him. Repeating the same phrase over and over. That voice that was so familiar; after all there weren't many little girls running around Hogwarts. His skin crawled as he realised that if he opened his eyes he would see her. She would be right there in front of him. His mind fought with itself as curiosity battled fear. He kept his eyes closed.

"Pssst. Headmaster Boy. When you wake up let Stuffy Prince go out the door first."

She repeated it a few times. Albus was about to pretend to wake up and tell her that he'd received the message just to make her shut up when one of the others made a noise and roll over. This was quickly followed by a very faint sound, like a bubble popping, and Albus got the vague feeling that she wasn't there any more. He opened his left eye, the one that was mostly pressed into the pillow, a little bit, and saw only the curtains of another bed. Opening his right eye as well he chanced a more thorough look around. The room appeared empty. Albus sat up, surveying the room. Everyone else was still pretty much asleep.

She definitely wasn't there. To make absolutely sure he checked under his bed. And while he was on the floor, he had a quick look round to check she wasn't hiding under any of the others. Then he got back into bed and wrapped himself up in his duvet.

When you wake up let Stuffy Prince go out the door first.

Albus looked around at the other four beds. He'd known these guys for years, and yet didn't really consider any of them to be his personal friend. He'd spent many a morning trying to figure out what he felt about them all. Tried to suppress the vague feelings of attraction he felt towards a couple. Scorpius. Stuffy prince was Scorpius, wasn't it? He had a vague feeling that was what she had called him when she had made him disappear during the apparition lesson. So he had to let 'Stuffy Prince' out first? Albus didn't know why that was the instruction, but he had a weird feeling that it might be a good idea to follow her instruction. She seemed to like him as much as he disliked her, and it was possible that she was trying to protect him.

But he didn't particularly want any harm to come to Scorpius either. Even if they weren't friends, and he did feel a bit annoyed with the man for kissing his sister, he didn't want him to get hurt. But then, if he warned him, would little laughter know and punish him later?

In response to the decision, Albus hugged his knees to his chest and pulled the duvet over his head, creating a den in which he could hide. Here the world could not exist, he could be a six year old, and his biggest worry was that Lily was nearly as good as him at Quidditch. Or that he'd been told off for not eating his peas at dinner time. How much the little things used to bother him. Back then if he couldn't make a decision nobody got hurt. Here his constant indecisiveness had sent more than one person to the hospital wing. He made a split second decision.

"DON'T USE THE DOOR!" Albus squealed at the top of his lungs, removing the duvet cover for a second while he did so. Immediately he plunged back under it, and sat quivering, curled up into as small a space as he could manage. Why did you do that? Idiot.

Scorpius had been sleeping soundly and probably would have snoozed a bit longer if it were not for the screech of his roommate to not use the door. "Bloody hell!" he grumbled as he sat up sleep still in his eyes and quite possibly not looking the best considering that he had just woken up and hair loved to do its own thing while one slept. He glared over at Potter's bed and hand half a mind to reach for his wand and hex him for waking him up about something so stupid but he didn't.

Part of him wanted to crash back onto his be and try to sleep but when his eyes fell on the time he knew that there was no point in going back to sleep. "You couldn't have waited another blood ten minutes to scream out Potter?" demanded Scorpius as he allowed his feet to hang off of the side of his bed his mood going rather fowl. He remembered the date and wondered if this was some form of childish prank on the part of his roommate though, Albus didn't ever seem to be the one to pull some sort of prank.

"Is this some sort of stupid prank?" he asked as he stood up and saw that his roommate was hiding under his covers. Didn't have the balls to face a person after interrupting their sleep? Scorpius rolled his eyes as he looked to make sure his things were in order to be able to get ready for the day and then go down for an early breakfast, as there was no point to sleep any more. He was just ready to get the stupid day over with. He grabbed his wand and cast a few spells and wards over his clothes and hair to prevent a few certain classic pranks from reaching him and Potter from getting her chance at a few things as well. He'd been though enough April Fools to know a few things. It was what came with being at the school for five other April Fools and most of them being when Lily Potter was around. Not to mention every day seemed like this cursed day to that girl and that prepared him all the more. When he was done with his spell work which didn't take too terribly long the words of Albus sunk in a bit deeper.

"The door? Of all the things to scream about the door?" asked Scorpius partly of Albus and partly of himself. It didn't matter if Albus answered that one or not it was just an odd thing to scream about even for an April Fools prank wouldn't it have been wiser to pretend to be screaming out in one's sleep?

Albus curled tighter into a ball under his duvet, squeezing his eyes closed as if that would make a difference. He couldn't tell what he was most afraid of, there were three things pushing around in his head, making it feel fuzzy and confused. The first was that everyone was going to be angry with him for waking them up for no reason, that he had dreamt Little Laughter talking to him (and a genuine dream, not one of the dreams where she actually did talk to him, even if those lines were becoming ever more blurred) and that nothing was going to happen when they opened the door.

The second thing was that there was something behind the door and it was going to do some serious harm. He'd heard about the bludger, seen the wand backfire, watched as the Slytherin dungeons filled up with water and people flailed about unable to swim. When Scorpius and Renna got vanished into nowhere and all the doors got locked. Everything was dangerous in the end, and this one felt very close. The monster waiting outside the door. His mind, when not distracted by either of the other two things, rotated between the different facets of his imagination. Minotaur. Flood. Avada Kedavra. Giant rotating blades. Bludger, no, wait, she'd already done that one. Suddenly everything in his mind was tinged pink. Pink flood. Pink blades. Pink minotaur. Himself with a pink face and everybody laughing. Quick, switch to the third though.

The third was the most terrifying of them all, and as soon as he reached it Albus tried to shake the thought from his head, a party guest he refused to entertain. What will she do to me when she finds out I told? Of the many reasons he had kept quiet about her, this was perhaps the underlying one. The one he had refused to admit to himself after all this time, all these months. When he kidded himself that it was because he didn't want to get into trouble even though he'd always known instinctively that it wasn't much of a reason. What was a detention or two if it meant saving lives? Because he didn't doubt that, in the end, she would take lives. Possibly not on purpose, maybe it would be an accident, she was only a child after all.

The thing that he was worried about was that the life might be his.

And the reason might be because she was angry that he had told.

Albus, curled into his ball, flopped pathetically to one side. His feet in this position were no longer covered by the duvet and flapped about in the comparatively cool air of the dormitory. He wriggled slightly to try and cover them, as though the fabric might provide some sort of protection, and in the face of his failure to do that with dignity, decided to brave the rest of his dormitory. He'd been vaguely aware throughout his inner monologue that Scorpius had woken up and was demanding answers.

"I heard a rumour about the door." Albus said as nonchalantly as his racing mind would allow. His face twitched distractedly and he turned away to hide it, pretending to make his bed. "I don't know what exactly, or who..." He trailed off, aware that his lie wasn't holding up to much. "It was an 'I heard that so and so said that some people were going to do something to the Slytherin dormitory doors' kind of situation," he added breathlessly, shaking out his duvet, his fortress, with an unusual flourish. Taking the time to smooth it down in a way that he wouldn't normally bother. He spoke quickly without taking a breath. "Heard it in the library, some Ravenclaw's, um, third year I think. Maybe second. Can't tell with these younger kids. Um, so, what do you think we should do?"

Scorpius tried in some ways to ignore his roommate who was acting particularly odd this morning. Of course Albus always seemed odd but this was particularly so this day, what with the flapping about under his covers like some small scared little child. Did the idiot really thing that his duvet would protect him. Scorpius could incinerate it with a simple flick of his wand He rolled his eyes and continued to prepare for the day as if nothing had happened.

Of course Albus finally gave up his childish antics of attempting to hide under a duvet as if it would protect him and got up to start the day, and it seemed that such an act loosened the idiot's tongue. Though his words were not much better than his silent antics.

SO he was screaming about a rumor of a second year prank? Really? He had to wait till the early hours of the morning and wake everyone up rather than tell them all the night before? How was another house supposed to attack their house- though there was the Gryffindor prank though now Scorpius wondered about that as well. Not to mention it was second or third years? Really this all sounded rather odd and suspicious!

"Seriously Potter if this was some lame attempt at a prank you can fess up to I'm not quite in the mood to curse you if that's what you are worried about," Scorpius rolled his eyes again before attempting to get ready for the day.

There was a moment before Scorpius spoke again as he realized that there was a possibility that Albus actually thought there was something up with the doors. The ideal only struck a cord with him because there was a certain ton in Albus' voice that wasn't there when talking about the plot against the Slytherins. Actual worry and concern versus that fake airy tone he had that seemed to say he was lying. Maybe he was covering for his sister whom he had actually and stupidly helped which would make sense and cause there to be some actual harm there at the door. Thus, it was with a heavy sigh Scorpius decided to play along with his insane roommate just a bit. He took his wand and spoke, "Spelius Revilio."

He waited for a moment and got nothing back. "Well it doesn't look like there are any spells on the door," his tone was once again bored and plaintive almost as if he were speaking to a small child and convincing them that there was not monsters in the closet or under the bed. Still despite his disbelief, he did have thoughts of making Potter or his cousin go through the door first just in case. Potter may be a nut job but he didn't trust him as there was still something odd about the whole situation. Thus Scorpius slowed down ever so slightly in getting ready for the day so as to not appear to be avoiding the door which he now sort of was, he was going to have to be careful on how he played things so as not to appear as crazed as Potter and yet not be the first through the door.
