Flying Notes
Every school has at least one thing in common even if Hogwarts does it differently. That is note passing.
But at Hogwarts, the notes fly and can go between classrooms or common rooms. Have something you need to tell a friend right away? Just jot them a little note and send it off with a spell.

Here is where students will find a corridor that was once banned from entrance back in their parents' generation, the trophy room, and the Charms Corridor. Don't forget about the statue of the Hump-Back Witch that lingers on this floor.

Fourth Floor
Here is where students will find the Ravenclaw's most prized place, the Library. As well, one of the two prefect bathrooms are on this floor and one of the worse trick stairs in all of Hogwarts.

Fifth Floor
Here is where students will find the second prefect bathroom as well as lots of unused classrooms. Perhaps even some secret societies. As well, on this floor is the entrance to Ravenclaw Tower: passed a bronzed eagle knocker and up a winding stair case.

Sublevels and Dungeons
In the sublevels, students will find the Kitchens (just tickle the pear!), the Hufflepuff Common Room, and, though it has been lost for 1000 years, the heart of Hogwarts.
In the Dungeons, students will find the Potions classroom, private store rooms, and the Potions' professor office. As well, down there is the Slytherin Common room and some unused dungeons that Flich would love to get to keys to.

This is where the Gyrffindors can be found after hours - for the most part - and on the weekends before noon. Home to the brave and courageous, this area is decked out in red and gold. Beware any Slytherins that approach. Wands shall be pointed your way.

Hagrid's Hut
Hagrid, the Keeper of Keys, lives in a small wooden house on the edge of the forbidden forest. A crossbow and a pair of galoshes are outside the front door... There is only one room inside. Hams and pheasants usually hang from the ceiling, with a copper kettle boiling on the open fire, and in the corner stands a massive bed with a patchwork quilt over it

Forbidden Forest
This forest is located just beyond Hagrid's hut and is off limits to students, unless accompanied by a member of the staff. It is most known for the colony of Acromantualas, herd of Centaurs and Threstrals who live there, but other dangerous creatures are also known to lurk about so beware.

The Lake
A favourite place for students to spend time near during the hotter months, the lake is to the south of the castle (which stands on a cliff overlooking the water). The lake is about half a mile in diameter and is filled with a variety of creatures including the Giant Squid, merfolk, and grindylows.

Quidditch Pitch
The Quidditch Pitch is located on the opposite side of the castle than the Forbidden Forest. Teams can book the pitch off for practice when required and the stands fill up completely when there is a game. A spell has been placed over the quidditch pitch that keeps the snitch in. Unfortuantely, it doesn't keep the weather out. On opposite sides of the pitch are two changing rooms, one for each team playing a game. And just to the left of the pitch is the broom shed. The school brooms are kept in here.

Whomping Willow
The Whomping Willow is a very valuable, very violent tree planted alone in the middle of the school grounds. There have been tales of the accidents that happened when people got too close to the tree. Beware and stay away.

Greenhouses
There are 3 greenhouses on the grounds of Hogwarts. Used for Herbology class and to grow ingredients for potions and the Hospital Wing, each greenhouse is different. First, second, and third years are allowed into the first greenhouse as it is the safest of the three - even with the baby mandrakes. Greenhouse 2 is the classroom for the fourth and fifth years, housing more dangerous plants. Greenhouse 3 is only for those that are serious about herbology and plan to take there NEWTs in it. These are sixth and seventh year student because this greenhouse is the most dangerous of the 3.

Care of Magical Creatures
For those interested in magical creatures of all sorts, Professor Winchester will escort you around the grounds to meet the various species and instruct you in their care and feeding. Luckily this class is far less dangerous than when Hagrid was teaching it. Unless of course you aren't paying attention to what the professor is saying...

Hogsmeade Villiage
Hogsmeade is the only entirely wizarding village in Britain. It's a picturesque little village of thatched cottages and shops, with enchanted candles hanging in the trees during the holidays.
As Hogsmeade is located just down the road from Hogwarts, the school and the village have always shared a special relationship. On select Saturdays throughout the school year the village is filled with Hogwarts students, who are allowed to visit beginning in their third year.

Hogwarts Express
The Hogwarts Express is a passenger train which makes a run between King's Cross Station, London, and Hogsmeade Station. It makes this run at least four times a year, and probably more often than that, as needed. It does leave without fail on September 1 at 11 am from Platform Nine and Three Quarters, Hogwarts Express King's Cross, arriving at Hogsmeade Station in the early evening. Most students take the train back to King's Cross to go home for the Christmas and Easter holidays. The train also makes the run back again to London at the end of term in June.
The train is pulled by a scarlet steam locomotive. There is no dining service, but a witch pushes a tea trolley through the train midway through the trip, selling various types of sweets and iced pumpkin juice. There is a separate car or two at the front of the train for Hogwarts Prefects. There are usually no adults aboard the Hogwarts Express except the witch with the tea trolley and the driver.
