As you might be able to guess from the title of our new plot, we will be holding a dare game sort of scene for our Hogwarts students.
Of course, the school has no idea what is going on, so this is a secret. After everybody is supposed to be in bed fast asleep dreaming of bunny rabbits and pretty flowers - the people who wish to participate sneak out of the school and into Hogsmeade where they will all meet in The Three Broomsticks. Awaiting for them are envelopes, now some might think of these as something uber exciting and some may think of them as a trip to hell and back.
Each student has to pair up with the opposite gender and complete the dares with this person. The pairings are as follows:
James Potter and Marlene McKinnon Sirius Black and Hestia Jones Remus Lupin and Lily Evans Frank Longbottom and Alice Kennedy Peter Pettigrew and Dorcas Meadows Severus Snape and --
We've run out of females since Amber decided she wanted to leave and the other well, uh.. the other is gone.
EDIT; these pairings werent done on purpose. Sophie and I wrote out the names of the characters, and put them in a hate and then dished 'em out together. (I still have the pictures, if you dont believe me) This was added because some people questioned it. IN CHARACTER POST The night was cold against his skin causing it to pimple. Why was a Hogwarts student sneaking out onto the grounds un- accompanied and going against the ‘no students out of bed past 10pm’ rule. Well, what did you expect from this lad, he was James Potter never was one to abide by rules and always one to ignore student curfew. Throwing his invisibility cloak around his shoulders, he continued onwards through the portrait hole and into the cold corridor. Extending an arm out of his disguise he gave a flick of his fingers signaling the all clear for his friends to emerge from the common room. Why they hadn’t just gone under the cloak with him in the first place, he didn’t know. Guess this was just another safety precaution they had to go through with to aid their escape. Tonight was the second best night of the month, the full moon was of course firmly sat in thirst place and the third was probably detention with Filch which he was still paying out with Sirius for stealing Mrs Norris and accidentally gluing her to the revolving staircases. Tonight was Dare Night, and James was defiantly in his element. It’d been to a few of the earlier arranged nights and enjoyed every moment of it, even the partners – because each of them had been too scared to back down from a dare incase he decided they would be his target for the next day in his ‘hexing randoms’ session. So of course, it was only natural for him to complete every dare however lame, embarrassing or nerve racking it was. And until tonight, as he wasn’t sure who he would get for a partner, the people he was paired with were fine. Now opening the cloak a little wider for his friends to sneak into he waited, dressed in simple muggle attire of Jeans, a baggy white top and his Gryffindor scarf.

Remus hated Dare Night. He really, really disliked it. Yet somehow, in some strange way, at the same time that he was really dreading the day that he would have to sneak out of the castle in the cold and into the Three Broomsticks, he slightly looked forward to it. He didn’t know how he looked forward to it- he didn’t even know why he did, he just did. It was like that this was the one night that he could drop his normally more serious then not disposition and get stoned and do whatever the hell he felt like doing; whatever little thing it was, he wasn’t afraid to do it, because everyone else was doing it as well.
He would slip under James’s cloak and went out then to the Three Broomsticks with him and his fellow Marauders. Madame Rosmerta no longer minded their Dare Nights. She found them amusing. The first time she had tried to stop them, but then she had realised that it was no use.
Remus coughed as he slipped out of the couch, he too unsure for why they hadn’t just gotten under the cloak as well, and slipped under the Cloak, grinning (rather weakly, may I say) at James.
Every year it was the same. They would slip under the cloak, walk to the Three Broomsticks, collars turned up against the cold, and everything would unfold from there. Dares would commence, Firewhiskey would be drunk, people would get stoned, a few kisses, a couple of snogs…
Of course, it was all fun and games. Nothing meant everything, and usually no one could remember anything.
“Where’s Sirius and Peter?” he said in low tones, looking over at his friend.

"Here's Sirius and Peter!" declared a familiar cheerful voice as Sirius tried to put his arms around the invisible shoulders of his friends, sort of missed, and fell over. He recovered superbly, grinning like an idiot, which he was, and snuck under the cloak with them. "Well, Sirius, anyway, but it sounded better to say both. Dunno where Wormtail's got to. We all set apart from Pete?"

"I don't know why you make me do these things." a low, grumpy voice was whispering as two figures slipped out of the Common Room and started walking slowly down stairs. "It's only because I love you." the other voice responded smartly. "Now where is Dory and Marlene? Nevermind that, they'll go together.." she paused and looked at the railing of the staircase, a smirk rising on her lips. "Hestia Jones, don't you dare." "Or do I? Lily, lighten up. There's no one up at this time." "What are you, crazy? Filch is up!" Lily hissed, glaring at Hestia. "Oh come on. He's probably somewhere else." Hestia said with a light smile before hopping onto the banister and sliding down, giggling as she did so. When she reached the bottom, Hestia fell on the ground, ending up rolling over to a wall and starting to laugh silently. Lily rolled her eyes and walked down the stairs quickly, making her way over to Hestia. "You're crazy." she whispered, grabbing her friend by the arm and yanking her up. "You haven't figured that out yet?" Hestia asked, brushing off her clothes and grinning at Lily. "Oh I have.."
The two girls were completely different, yet they were still the best of friends. Same with Dorcas and Marlene. When the four girls were put together, they acted totally different than they did during school hours. But that was only natural. Lily was the most mature out of the four of them, yealling at them when they did wrong, talking to them when they needed to be talked to.. Hestia was all fun and games, one of the goofballs in the group who didn't give about the rules.
As we all know, Lily was a short young woman, but of course, we didn't know that Hestia was extremely taller than Lily. Lily, who was five foot one, was about five inches shorter than Hestia, who was five foot six. It sucked, in Lily's opinion, to be short, but she got that from her mother.
So to completely get on Lily's nerves, Hestia patted her friend on the head and smirked. "Don't you worry about that, Lily dear." "Oh come on, Hestia." Lily whined. "Do you have to pat me on the head and make it known that I'm bloody short!" "Well it is quite noticable, Lily." Hestia said with a nod before taking her friends hand and pulling her down another flight of stairs happily. Tonight would be interesting-no matter how much Lily hated it.

A short, squat boy, looking rather apprehensive, appeared out of nowhere beside his friends and joined them under the cloak.
'I'm here,' he said slowly, although the tone of voice with which he said so was nervous and implied that he had done everything in his power not to be here. He didn't want to kiss anyone. He didn't want to strip. He didn't want to streak. He didn't want to do countless things Hatty and Sophie had dreamt up for Peter to do.
'Do we have to do this?' He asked hesitantly, eyes casting about for a chance to escape. 'I mean...miss it for just a year?'

Whoever forced her to do this was going to pay.
*LILY*
Sighing, Marlene bade goodbye to the two insepearbles, and continued to write her song. So far she had a chorus and a bridge, but she was unsure what to do about the verses. The song was all about taking risks, and being unafraid to do so.
Cliched, no?
No, it wasn't. Marlene planned to write it the night of Dare Night, seeing if OMGINSPIRATION would hit her, as she like to call it. SO far, she had nothing. Marlene sighed again, a long and noticeable sigh, like she was trying to let all the air out of her, so she'd be deflated like an unblownup balloon. Repeating this again, Marlene decided that she'd given Lily and Hestia enough of a head start. Not having a clue where Dory the Fish was, Marlene shrugged and put her notebook away.
So far-
So take a risk, take a chance Take the plunge Just dive in Don't look back Don't look to the side Don't look anwhere but ahead That's all you gotta do Dive in...
The lyrics were okay, but the beat was the brilliant part. Along with the melody. In need of inspiration, Marlene decided to wait until Dare Night was over. She hoped she got someone nice.
Really.
She hoped Lily got James. Grinning a mile wide at this thought, Marlene jumped off her bed, grabbed her black cloak from the edge of her bed, and flew out of the dorm, running after Lily and Hestia.
"Hey guys!" She called. "I finally caught up to you...Go me." She grinned, quickly finger combing her long black hair. It had gotten into a mess from her sprint. "So...Ready to go? Or continue...Whatever..." She shrugged, panting slightly.

Dare Night wasn’t so bad, really. It gave people a chance to be who they could be inside; it gave people a chance to drop their usual persona and attitudes and just become what their hearts had half desired through the stacks of books and over-done homework assignments.
You see, Alice knows all about this.
And this is what said girl was thinking about all the while as she slowly descended the girls’ staircase, her hand trailing along the banister and gripping it very lightly indeed all the while. Ok, so she was a bit nervous; who was her partner? How many times would they have to snog? Would she have to strip?
Knowing Alice’s luck, she would.
All these things were still being contemplated as she continued her steady walk down to the grounds, and far up ahead, she caught site of the four - wait, no, there were only three at the present time - other girls in her dormitory. They always stuck together, and no matter how much Alice tried to deny it, she was slightly envious of their tight bonds. Sure, they were all friends, but Alice was more of the girl to make friends with a book and a cup of hot cocoa. She hated this about her characteristics, and, in spite of herself, quickened her pace slightly to catch up with them.
“Here we go again,” Alice said, barely a whisper, laughing quietly and sticking her hands in the inside pockets of a navy cloak she had decided to wear. Underneath, of course, Alice wore muggle clothes: a pair of relatively form-fitting khakis and a crimson sweater. Her hair was down, as per usual, and she had only put on a tiny bit of makeup just for kicks. Then again, Alice never really did like to go out in public without it, as sad and pathetic as that was.

Frank had walked right past the Marauders without realising they were there. Of course he didn't. They were invisible. He usually looked foreword to Dare Night- the fun, the excitment, the dares. But this time... something stuck out. He had apologized to James Potter. James Potter had apologized to him. But they weren't exactly on best friend terms, were they? Not after what had happened on the Grounds. Secretley, he dreaded coming across James. He had acted like an arse, and he didn't want to admit it any more then James wanted to admit that he had acted rather stupidly. But really, Frank had acted like a prat the most. Of course he would have.
He pocketed his hands and wakled out of the Common Room. He was wearing a pair of Muggle tracksuits, and a loose white T-shirt. He had a light jacket on over it, and as soon as he stepped outside he wished he had put on something a bit more warm. It was freezing. The night air whipped angrily around his neck, and he had to pull the collar up to prevent it from freezing his ears. Even then his ears were very cold, turning red after five minutes. His hands, too, grew cold, though they weren't as such as his ears since they were burried in his pockets, fingers grasping the fabric into the palms of his hands, as if trying to warm them up.
Frank saw the girls and swore. He wanted to go faster, sprint to the Three Broomsticks, but the girls were there. He wasn't in the mood yet to go sprinting past the girls like a frozen two year old wanting to get inside. He swore again, took his hands out of his pockets and pressed them against his ears.
Then he spotted Alice a bit ahead of him. He swore once more. He really wasn't doing too well with girls at the moment. Maybe he would be better off gay.
The cold became too much, though, and Frank, with a small yelp of frustration, lept up and sprinted past them all, stopping two minutes later, feeling mildly warmer and as if he was about to be sick, outside the Three Broomsticks.
Thank. God.

Her hand was beginning to ache, all this writing just wasn’t doing anything for her wrists but it had to be done else her mother would think there was something wrong with her daughter if she didn’t reply within one day. Signing the letter and sealing it with a large red kiss, the brunette attached it to her waiting owl, once she was sure that the letter was on its way, she shut the window to keep in the heat of the bedroom and stole her coat from the chair and rushed from the room.
She would be late, she knew it – and telling Hestia, Lily and Marlene to go on without her was probably a bad idea because it would mean that she was left to escape the castle and travel down the dark paths to Hogsmeade all on her own. There was next to no chance she would get taken away though, because the road connecting the school to the fully wizard village was perfectly safe.
Wrapping her coat over her body and doing the buttons up she ran as quietly as she could down the stairs and out into the piercing cold air. Gasping she tucked her hair inside her coat and tugged up her hood to keep body heat inside, and heat up her ears.
So here she was, making her way down to join in the much spoken about event to hit Hogwarts for some time, or to hit Hogwarts and have nothing to do with Proffessors, work and grades anyway. It only happened once a year and you’d be pretty silly to miss it. Besides it was also a large social activity something only Severus Snape and his cronies would miss. Tucking her hands into her coat pockets she waded her way down the school lawn, eyes only just being able to make out a few shadows of other students sneaking out.

Remus didn't back out because he knew that if he did, it would be more than just his mates laughing at him, but a hell of a lot of other people. He would also be letting whoever was his partnet down, and he didn't want to do that. First of all, he was probably too proud to back out. He didn't have the same amount of pride as Prongs did, but he did have his fair bit. And letting someone else down... just wasn't Remus, or anything Remus would do.
But he could complain. No one said anything about complaining.
"I agree with Peter," he said shortly, keeping up carefully with the others, careful not to go too far ahead, or too far behind, knowing either could pull the Cloak up the small bit it would need for Mrs Norris's prying eyes to see them. They already had a theory going that the cat could see through the Cloak, or she could smell them. Remus didn't really mind which. Mrs Norris hated him anyway. Like all cats. She could probably sense him with her eyes closed if she came across him in a crowded corridor because of the big bundle of cat-hate that she swooped his way.

Lily jumped at Marlene's voice, her free hand flying up to her chest and sighing deeply. "Marlene, don't scare me like that again, and keep your bloody voice down. I am not going to get expelled, or get a detention for this. I have a clear record--" "Oh hush, Lily. Nothing bad is going to happen." Hestia interrupted in a whisper, waving her hand dismissively. She smirked when Lily pouted at her, and patted her friend on the shoulder. "C'mere, Marly." she grabbed onto Marlene's hand before stopping dead in her tracks and spinning all three of them around. Letting out a sharp screech, she stared straight at the figure of Dorcas that was coming towards them. "DORY-POO!" she exclaimed, shaking Lily and Marlene's hands off of hers and skipping-literally- over to Dorcas. She tackled her friend and let out a small giggle, raising her eyebrows. "You're late. I'm not happy." she paused for a moment, stroking her chin, before letting go and placing her hands on her hips. Lily looked as if she was going to have a fit, and grabbed onto Marlene's arm, yanking her over to the other two. "Do you have any idea how loud you were, Hestia Jones!?" She whispered viciously, glaring at the girl, who just shrugged it off and waved her hand in the air again. "No." Hestia replied breezily. "It doesn't matter, now. Let's get a move on before someone catches us." "Someone might catch us?" Lily's eyes widened, tightening her grip on Marlene's hand and shivering slightly. "That's not good. Let's go." And with that, Hestia and Lily started off again, Lily muttering profanities under her breath as she tripped over a rock, and Hestia snickering at her friend.
