Blood of blood will unsheathe claws, and a great leader's blood shall be spilt.
Oh, just in mortal danger..., (Don't mind lil ol' me.)

Flamewing looked at the disappointed kit, whose ears drooped ever so slightly. Her whiskers twitched, and she left off cleaning her wound for the time being. "I'm fine for the time being," she informed Robinkit. "The bleeding's almost stopped, so I'll last. I don't think I'd be able to make it back to camp without resting first, anyway; so of course we can stay here for a while."
Flamewing gazed at the she-kit. She had seen the look on Robinkit's face after the response to her question. A far-off look had clouded the kit's aqua-colored eyes, and while Flamewing guessed that her answer was both true and untrue, she decided to leave it. There were things the flame-colored warrior didn't understand, having grown up with rogues; it had taken moons for her to finally have complete faith in StarClan who stalked the skies, and she still didn't understand any of their mysteries. But, she supposed, she knew what she was meant to know, and pressed no further. Flamewing said to Robinkit, "I'll talk to Copperstar about your apprenticeship as soon as we get back."

Flamewing winced when Robinkit licked her wound, the kit's sandpaper tongue rasping over the no-longer-bleeding gash on her flank. The pale orange warrior opened her mouth to rebuke Robinkit, momentarily forgetting that she was only a kit and knew no better, but then stopped as words began spilling from the rufous kit's jaws, words that were apparently chosen at random.
Flamewing stared at her blankly for a while, and then began to shake with suppressed laughter, emerald eyes twinkling brightly. "Slow down!" she told Robinkit. "How kits can bounce back from all that is utterly beyond me." Flamewing nudged the kit with her nose. "If you'd like to leave now, we can. I can't speak for Copperstar, but I don't see why it would be a problem for me to mentor you-- after all, I haven't had an apprentice yet. I don't know where the badger's headed, I don't know why my eyes are green, and I have no idea what else you said."

Flamewing felt a twinge of jealousy at the mention of Robinkit's brother. Flamewing's own brother, Talon, was long gone, and their happy kithood together had been cut short in the presence of rogues. An image sprang unbidden into her mind: the last look she'd had of her brother, of the rogue leader pinning him down as he shouted for her to run. She gave a low, involuntary growl at the image before it faded away, and she looked back to the happy kit. Robinkit was lucky to still have her brother and mother.
Flamewing got to her feet and trotted after the bouncing Robinkit. Robinkit looked at Flamewing with those aqueous eyes of hers, and Flamewing briefly pondered why indeed Robinkit had blue eyes and she green. A rogue she'd known had one blue eye and one green eye. It was all very strange... Then she shook her head. A kit's curiosity was infectuous. Swinging her tail lazily back and forth, Flamewing said, "I suppose we could leave now; I don't see why not, after all."

"Great! Let's go." Robinkit sprung about the clearing as if she were a newborn rabbit out for the very first time, parting the leaf-litter and sending the dead carpet into delightful swirls from her romping. She stopped to fall into a poorly unbalanced crouch with her tail and legs high off the ground as her dusky blue eyes caught sight of one of the sombre leaves, crowned by a pale streak of soft mold. The little kit tensed her muscles, trying to concentrate her best on the ragged little thing that was twirling in wonderful little patterns back towards the ground, pressured by gravity and the soft afternoon breezes. With a flattened back, the rusty-coated kit felt her haunches ease and her smallish front paws flipped from underneathe her. Balancing on her hind legs, she swatted at a fluttering dead leaf, her eyes filled with frustration as she missed it and fell over onto all paws. Dazed, but not quite pouty, the kit came closer to the shade of the trees once more.
"Okay, let's go!" Robinkit squeaked in a high-pitched voice, swinging her head back towards Flamewing as she walked up on a gnarled root of a tall, fully-leafed oak. They were quite close to RiverClan--the roar of the gorge was apparent with its crashing water unmistakable as ever. But it was not of concern. The kit wanted to get home: Pebblekit would be sooo jealous!
