separation is not the key
The plan was perfect.

Actually, the day had gone pretty much amazing too. The band he had been working with was on point with everything, and they’d gotten ahead of schedule. Which is why he’d had time to go to the mall. It was simple. Through texting his wife, he was positive she was expecting more sex than normal when he got home. While that would be more than welcome on any given day, Jesse had a surprise planned. They’d be together for years now with no pets, and no kids (though Jesse was happy that they were still child free). It was time he brought Syd a puppy.

Who didn’t love puppies? Jesse was tempted to get something that would grow into a big dog, like a Great Dane or something. For some reason, he wasn’t sure that would appeal to Syd very much. Probably because it would be able to pull her off her feet or something. Maybe the next dog, but for now it had to be something small. As far as Jesse had always seen, the general female population loved those yorkies. So that was what he went with. It was cute enough, and really energetic in the way only puppies can be. All the way back to the car it was pulling against it’s leash and trying to sniff everything.

Jesse put it in the car while he loaded all the food and toys and stuff into the truck. Only problem was, he didn’t push the door all the way shut. When he went around back to the front, the door was open. Immediatly, Jesse started to panic. The damn thing had gotten out, and he didn’t even hear it. ”Fuck!” Looking around, it wasn’t in the immediate area. Jesse climbed onto the roof of his car. ”Dog? Puppy? Animal? Come back!” It would be nice if she had a name, or was trained already. But no. That would make things easy, wouldn’t it?

Once her dad had left for work, Robby trudged around the house in that oversized t-shirt she had slept in and watched a little TV before heading into the shower. When dressed and ready for the day, she tied a folded bandana around her forehead to keep her hair from getting all up in her face when she was skateboarding about. Her hair would dry on her journey, she couldn't be bothered with it right now.

Skating through the streets of Adelphia, she realised how fucking hungry she was. Robby checked her pockets and made sure she had money. The teenager made the mall her destination and once there, bought a ham and turkey salad sub. She skated out of the mall (with the security guard giving her the same old "I've told you how many times not to skate in here?" look that he always gave her when she came in on her board) and sat out in the parking lot with her grub. She picked out bits of turkey to eat because the sub was too fat to fit in her mouth with the chunks.

She was halfway through her sandwich when a little dog approached, still wearing it's leash. That gave her the impression that it had run off from it's owner. She ripped a piece of ham out of her sub and dangled it out in front of her. "Hey little dude... what's this?" she said, calling it a dude regardless of it's sex (just like she did with people). "You want some hammy ham?" she asked, like she was talking to a baby. Well it looked like a baby dog. The dog took the bait but sniffed more at it and her first rather than scoffing it up.

It was all she needed, she took hold of it's leash and guided the dog closer so she could check for a tag. No tag. No soner had she checked for it, there was a guy on the roof of his car shouting out. Robby stood up, stuffed the remainder of her sub into her pocket and skated casually through the maze of cars towards him, with his dog trotting beside her. "Hey!" she called to get his attention and paused to pick up his puppy so he could see. "Is this yours?" she said having approached the car he stood on, giving the pup a gentle little scratch.
