Swiftstar emerged from her den sleepily, glancing over toward the waiting apprentice. She blinked warmly toward Moonkit as she leapt up onto the highrock with a wide yawn. She perked up her ears and yowled, "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here beneath the Highrock for a Clan-er-Province meeting!" She waited as the cats poured into the clearing.
Froststorm trotted out to sit near the Highrock's base. She gazed up at Swiftstar expectantly.
Icewhisker trotted behind Froststorm and took his seat on the other side of Camp.

Swiftstar gazed out among the gathered cats. "Cats of Riverprovince," She began. "We have two worthy cats here today, awaiting two first ceremonies." She turned to amber gaze to Moonkit. "Moonkit," She flicked her tail for him to join her on the Highrock. "Today, this kit is six moons old. He is ready for his apprenticeship." She winked down at him. "From this day foreward, he will be known as Moonpaw, until he had earned his warrior name.!" She let the meows of congratulation rumble through the camp before silencing them with a flick of her tail. "Froststorm," She gazed directly into the warrior's eyes. "You have never had an apprentice before." She motioned for her to join her and Moonpaw. "You will be his mentor."
Froststorm stared in shocked surprise up at Swiftstar. Her? A mentor? She gingerly got to her paws and bounded up to the top of the Highrock. Her ears lowered self-conciously, she glanced over at Moonpaw. "This is where we touch noses," She whispered encouragingly, recalling her own apprentice ceremony.

Swiftstar felt a purr rumble in her throat as the two cats touched noses. Good. She thought, rather guiltily. We'll need all the cats we can when we revolt against the Imperial Provinces.
Froststorm's eyes smiled into Moonpaw's. She was a mentor! She couln't wait to get training.
Icewhisker swelled with pride as his daughter was chosen to become Moonpaw's mentor. Starclan, he WAS getting old.

Swiftstar nodded approvingly and leapt off the Highrock, slinking silently back into her den. She needed to decide the next deputy before Moonhigh.
Forststorm purred in pleasure. "Moonpaw," She meowed as the two made their way down from the Highrock. "Training first thing tomorrow. I know you don't know the territory yet, but I'm going to give you a little test." She paused to look him over. "I'm going to leave a scent in a trail to the place where we will be learning to hunt. Try to follow it, and I'll see you there." With that, she trotted away from the apprentice and toward the Warrior's den.
