Yes, but sadly in Vegas. ;) Nevada finally was $wayed to ¢hange their minds re: Welterweights using the mandatory 10oz gloves. Now both fighters will be allowed to use their preferred 8oz gloves. On£y in America. Floyd will find a way to duck, but Oscar will make Miguel his swansong in December. |

sorry, I just meant the all encompassing schedule compiled by Marty Mulcahey. I wasn't sure where you were getting your upcoming fight schedule. |

Oh, yeah. Maxboxing is where I get all my info. You should check out the boards. Lots of boxing personalities and insiders post there. Both David Haye and Nate Campbell are regulars. Nate was posting mad smack in the lead up to the Diaz fight. We thought he was going to call out posters on air after he whooped the Baby Bull. :D This post has been edited by Yes Im Peter Ing on May 16 2008, 08:41 PM |

News and notes from U-Sector's most under-appreciated thread.
- Steve Molitor and Celestino Caballero are in negotiations for a November unification tilt at Casino Rama. - Steps have been made to bring a Nate Campbell - Joel Casamayor bout closer to reality. Don King won the purse bid; now all that's left is for Joel to sign the papers -- a long shot, to say the least. If signed, this fight would represent a clash between the uniformly recognized Lightweight champion, Nate Campbell, and the "lineal" champion and Ring belt holder, Joel Casamayor. In an era where titilists are a dime-a-dozen and divisional hierarchies are often tough to decipher, this is a fight that would produce a clear-cut champion and answer the question of who is the 'man' at 135 lbs. |

Floyd Mayweather Jr. has announced his retirement from the sport of boxing.
The DLH fight is off. And with that, Mayweather's status as the greatest waste of talent in boxing history is cemented. |

DLH's camp are set to announce Floyd's replacement on the November card.
Dare I say it: the Tito rematch? The Margarito - Cotto fight now carries added weight, since the winner will no doubt lay claim to the now vacated undisputed welterweight title. So too does tomorrow's Quintana - Williams rematch, which will give us an undisputed #2 in the division and, more importantly, a natural opponent for the winner of 'The Battle'. Damn. This is fun! Amazing how quickly the division's dynamics change when its supposed "champion" no longer holds the title hostage. This is what the Welterweight division should have been like all along. Daniel Santos knocked out Joachim Alcine with a right-left combination 2:10 into the sixth round to take the World Boxing Association light middleweight title from the Montreal boxer on Friday night. The 32-year-old Santos (32-3-1), of Puerto Rico, had outboxed a nervous-looking Alcine (30-1) in three of the first five rounds. In the sixth, the southpaw Santos threw a jab up the middle and then floored Alcine with a left hook. Alcine tried to get up, but fell back on his side before a stunned home crowd of more than 8,000 for the open air bout at Uniprix Stadium. The loss leaves Canada with three world title holders - IBF super-bantamweight champ Steve Molitor of Mississauga, Ont., and two Romanians based in Montreal, IBF super-middleweight champ Lucian Bute and new WBC light heavyweight champ Adrian Diaconu. As for Diaconu, he was named light heavyweight champion by the World Boxing Council on Friday after Chad Dawson elected to give up the belt. The WBC announced on its website that it was informed by Dawson that he would not defend his title against Diaconu, even though a purse bid had been held for the fight. Casamayor vs Marquez on Sep-13 Bute vs Andrade on Oct-24 Oscar is now penciled in for December 6th vs TBA ...oh and there's some sort of bout on July 26th.....maybe I'll PVR it. :P |

"I'm going to be in his face,'' Thompson claims. "I'm going to be pressing him with my non-stop pressure. I'm going to make him fight. I'm not going to lay back like a lot of guys who fought him have done and let him pummel me. I can't beat him running.''

Casa - Marquez is an interesting match-up, but really, it should be Casa - Campbell. An opportunity to crown an undisputed champion wasted.

That was a good one, and Thompson actually put up a fight. |
