I like this. I had gotten quite excited about the prospect of signing Mellberg and perhaps O'Dea isn't quite the vocal matured back-line commander that we need but he seems to be the type that can grow into that role. He has 20ish caps for Ireland I believe and my source tells me he handled Arshavin quite well.

O'Dea paired with Cann. I like this very much.

i talked to demps about this on wednesday. The only concern I'd have would be his seemingly inability to really "latch" on to a team.

But I think he'll do well.

and fuck he comes from great pedigree ;)

He wasn't good enough for Celtic, but should be good enough for TFC, if expectations aren't too high, like Mellberg high. Decent, versatile, left-footed centre half who can play left back in a pinch. Not the Bossman that they were talking about, but should be able to do the business. Kinda like Jonathan Spector, for north american fans.

Solid pick up. I think some people have been way to premature in slamming the signing. Obviously it isn't Melberg level, but You pick up an experienced CB who when I saw him play for Leeds looked alright.

Considering the salaries of the defenders below, all recently signing with the league and all with good experience, I hope that we've got him on a sensible contract. (Though considering he's got more experience than Eckersley and what he's earning... :)

Arne Friedrich (Chicago Fire)- $230,833
Alessandro Nesta (Montreal Impact)- $225,000
Bakary Soumare (Philadelphia Union)- $280,000

Hopefully, at 25 years old, he comes in and hits his prime here and really peaks.

He probably will be next year just like Nesta.

 Seriously? You're just messing with the songwriters above, right?

Even the club said it's "O Day", but I'd rather "O Dee" anyday.

He could be a good signing, he's not my first choice and like Scottay I am concerned about the way he hasn't been able to settle into a team lately but we will see how this works out! Someone please tell me he isn't taking up a DP spot!

Edit. Picture of Odie too big and too much of a pain to fix on phone.

If the DP spot was in play, TFC would have signed Mellberg.
