Since one of these threads pops up bi-weekly, I'll throw this comment in this one.
The forced singing thing just isn't happening. Last week sans Brizz or bare-chested Gino the capo thing was even a bit embarassing. Even demoralized slaves have more spirit than us fuckers these days. We need to take it back to the roots. Sing the stuff we like singing, plain and simple. Hey Jude and Yellow Submarine, although borrowed, were sang with enthusiasm. Hell, after being turfed by L'Impact a few weeks back we all had a great sing song with the 3 Little Birds on the metro despite being hung like Christmas stockings and having handed another Canadian rival their first league win ever. Let's stop handing out song sheets and yelling at each other with megaphones and just go back to singing for the best reason of all: to have fun and let it all out. The point we've arrived at these days and found ourselves 30 seconds into the last match was and has been embarassing and pathetic. If we don't have a reason to sing for the lads on the field, we can at least sing for our own amusement and hope the genuine enthusiasm picks up and carries on. Less yelling at each other, more singing together = Less disinterest, more enthusiasm. |

Great points Mike! Simple is good as far as songs go and the forced singing just doesn't work! That sing along you mention on the Metro was classic, it made me feel so much better and the looks on the faces of the odd local who shared the car with us was priceless! :) This post has been edited by gator on Apr 25 2012, 08:56 PM |

If I may throw in my own two cents... One simple request, slow it down! We sing most songs like we've all drank the kool-aid and we only have a couple minutes left to live. We should enjoy singing and let it go on and on. There is no need to rush these chants and sing them as fast as humanly possible.
Also, I can have enough of being tied 0-0 in a cup final. If idiots get bored and start that chant for no good reason, please don't sing along. Make them die out as soon as possible, because it's just embarrassing sometimes. And finally, thank you Bobby, and thank you U-Sector. I'm so happy I'm not in a section where my hands have to thrown up for the start of every song and where I'm not told to sit down a couple times during a game to whisper a chant. |

actually I'd argue the opposite. a couple of chants we did on wednesday were so slow I thought the plan was to sing vancouver to sleep. chants need to be upbeat and aggressive. sing em too slow and we suck the life out of everything. |
