Love how this was posted on Friday at 6pm.... with no email to ticketholders nor front page feature. Smells like shit, looks like shit, probably is shit. They really doped a lot of casual fans out of their money. |

The only people caught off guard by who LFC did not bring over to Toronto are people who only recognize the people they did not bring over. Ridiculous hype of LFC's omissions. I'm all for bashing LFC whenever I can, but this stuff shouldn't be a surprise to anyone on this board, and LFC shouldn't be bashed for the personnel choices they made.
Enough already. |

I wasn't bashing LFC. But I think MLS and TFC could have been much more clear about who was coming and who wasn't, especially referring to that public announcement of the squad for the Toronto game. |

That announcement was based off the list that LFC gave out just minutes before it was posted online. I was personally handed an "amended roster" at the Liverpool practice the day before the game, at the same time as everyone else got it. I'm not sure what you want MLS or (especially) TFC to do, in this case. Liverpool issued a release last week stating that certain players would be available on their North American tour, then less than one day before the first match they amended that list. |

I know things are best straight from the horse's mouth and all, but regardless if the club had it on their own website (which they didn't, they made most announcements regarding squad omissions between July 4th-9th when many of our players came back from holidays, Olympic squads were announced, etc.) or the MLS website, it sure wouldn't take long to determine who would and wouldn't be here. If Liverpool FC handed me a list saying Messi would be in the squad, I wouldn't print it, but some would I suppose. (Edit: that's not directed at you, Rudi. I know you're probably just doing your job.) I agree 100% with this from Colin:
Sad story: at half time I went to get more tall tins of Growers and Brucie is standing out behind the LFC supporters end posing for pics. It was astonishing how many LFC "suporters" walked right past the man without a clue who he is. 5mins in to half he was standing there practically by himself looking bored for a minute or two. I wonder how many of our more detached "fans" follow LFC because of their history but know nothing about it... I was extremely happy to see the squad that was here. Search these very boards for names like Suso, Adam Morgan, Jonjo and you'll see why. Here's me from over a year ago going on about Raheem and Morgan in the TIA thread. :D Did I mention I met God? If all it took for everyone on Earth to meet their Lord and saviour was a mid-season friendly, what a wonderful world it would be... I don't want them to do anything. I gladly paid my dollars to see the future of liverpool. I knew since June because TIA kept feeding me updates. You two just assume I am bashing because I am pissed and refuse to read my words. Hell, if I had my way neither squad would have played this friendly, it's a waste of energy and injury potential is huge. But I went glass half full and went to the game instead of bitching like the rest of you who did. either way, I had a great time on Saturday, my two favourite teams in the world playing a game of football, you only get that kind of action in FIFA. TIA: man that is a terrible story. Shameful to read. This post has been edited by redsofanfield on Jul 24 2012, 12:35 PM |

That truly is a sad story, Bruce is a legend and should be treated as one, I would have loved to had a chat with the man and I'm not a Liverpool Supporter! I spent my Saturday afternoon sailing on Lake Erie BTW! |
