Result of the Friday July 20, 2012 CSL game between
SC Toronto and Mississauga Eagles FC played at
Lamport Stadium in Toronto at 8:00pm.

17 min...SCT Brennan McNicoll GOAL...McNicoll steals
ball off defender and runs up middle from 40 yards while
two offside forwards stop and watch and he kicks low
15 yard shot past sliding goalie Ivan Skoko.

33 min...MEFC Bohdan Sulypka GOAL...MEFC Jose Melo makes
long run while holding off SCT Evan Brandon John and
stops at 15 yards and turns to tap ball over to charging
MEFC player who touches pass to 18 yards and Sulypka's
shot from left is into top right corner of net beyond
goalie Adrian Ibanez.

50 min...MEFC goalie Ivan Skoko dives to left at 10 yards
for ball and trips up SCT Kyle Hall who's on run up middle.
Referee Steve DePiero signals for a Penalty kick.

51 min...SCT Jarek Whiteman GOAL...Whiteman rolls Penalty
kick down middle and goalie dives to right.

58 min...SCT Jarek Whiteman GOAL...Whiteman on right side
rush eludes defender and shoots sharp angle shot from
12 yards into top left corner of net.

65 min...SCT Gerard Ladiyou GOAL...SCT Alon Badat cornerkick
from right has Ladiyou charge over from left to head 5 yarder
to top right corner of net.

76 min...SCT Brennan McNicoll GOAL...SCT Sebastian Arangio
on run with McNicoll rolls him a short pass to right for
McNicoll to shoot low 12 yard shot to left side of net.

81 min...MEFC switch goalies with Virun Singh coming into
game.

Final Score:.......SC Toronto.......5....
....Mississauga Eagles FC.....1....

Attendance was about 100 on this warm evening although
it did pick up to 150 by the end of the game with
permit holders watching before their rec league started.

SCT unveiled a new player--Janer Guaza Lucumi had just
arrived from Colombia yesterday and came into tonight's
game at 80 minutes. He had two shots on net with the
best being when an offside player froze to left him
to continue a run and roll a 15 yard shot wide left.
(similar to the opening goal).

The bio on Lucumi from the SCT website states:
SC Toronto recently signed Janer Guaza Lucumi from Colombia,
an outstanding 19 year old forward and Colombian U-20
national team player who has played professionally in that
country. Guaza is expected to be in the line up in the
next few weeks and will be a strong addition to the
already powerful forward line.

SCT exec Isac Cambas said the team has Lucumi under contract
for the rest of the season.

Best non-scoring chances were at 23 minutes when MEFC
Krisztian Kollega blasted a 12 yard shot on run on the right
into the outside webbing of the net. A minute later SCT
defender Casey DMello was in trouble as he got squeezed off
the ball on the right edge of the box but another defender
and the goalie covered up to prevent a shot. 26 minutes
had MEFC Shawn MacDonald threaded a 45 yard pass from the
right that had MEFC Jose Melo leap over a defender and fall
over at 8 yards. Two minutes later MEFC Bohdan Sulypka
was given a pass by Melo from the left in the box at 10 yards
sub is checked before he could get a shot away. 42 minutes
had SCT Jarek Whiteman get a shot from 8 yards blocked by
the flying goalie at 5 yards. Whiteman was hurt in that
collision. SCT Alon Badat couldn't draw a penalty
kick at 49 minutes when MEFC Brandon Wellington slid in
from behind to make a check. The crowd's booing may have
played a part in the more obvious Penalty call one minute
later.

From 65 minutes onward both teams emptied their benches
with the SCT victory almost assured with a 4-1 score
by that point.

SC Toronto moved into 1st place for about ten minutes
until the result of the TFC Academy game was known
as they beat North York Astros 2-1 to flip up to
1st over the idle Toronto Croatia. A battle for
1st will take place Sunday when Toronto Croatia hosts
SC Toronto while TFC Academy is idle.

MEFC stays in 10th place after tonight's loss.

This game was taped by Rogers TV for broadcast
in Toronto on the Rogers Community channel
on Sunday night at 8:00pm.

Thanks for the play-by-play. Saw this final scoreline on the board when USOL was starting up and took note. Looked like a decisive win.

Result of the Sunday July 22, 2012 CSL game between
North York Astros and Kingston FC played at
Esther Shiner Stadium at 4:30pm.

36 min...Astros Carlos Amorim GOAL...Amorim takes
over rush when Astros Vasileios Liagkios was
knocked over at 30 yards on left. Amorim takes
25 yard shot from between two defenders and
into low right side of net beyond
goalie Shane Lopez.

52 min...KFC Alex Campbell GOAL...KFC Stephane
Emard crosses 30 yard freekick from left that
KFC Ali Al-Badry heads from 6 yards on right
across box for Campbell to blast low 10 yarder
down middle into right side of net.

67 min...Astros YELLOW card...Maxim Dorneval
earns it for pushing over KFC Edgar Soglo on
right edge of box. Referee Scott Decker rules
that the knock over was inside the box and
awards a Penalty kick.

68 min...KFC Mademba Ba GOAL...Ba rolls Penalty
kick to left corner of net beyond diving goalie
Enea Perego.

71 min...Astros RED card...Davier Walcott earns
a direct ejection from the game with a kick
on KFC Alex Campbell just outside right edge
of Astros box.

Final Score:.....North York Astros.....1.....
Kingston FC.......2.......

Attendance was about 60 on this hot but cooling,
sunny, cloudy, rainy day (all during the game).

Best non-scoring chances wereat 3 minutes when
a KFC player took a 30 yard freekick from the
right that had KFC Ali Al-Badry fly to flick
head a 10 yarder down the middle just wide
left of the net. 12 minutes had Astros Vasileios
Liagkos take a 35 yard freekick down the middle that
had Astros Kurt Ramsey pop up a 6 yarder and the
goalie grabbed it before Ramsey could head
it again. 30 minutes had KFC Mademba Ba charge
to try to get to KFC Al-Badry's cross and
run right into the net and almost tip it over
as he crashed into the back of it but he emerged
unhurt. 44 minutes had Astros Liagkos swing in
a cornerkick from the right that had Astros
Ramsey head a 7 yarder from the left that a
defender headed away on a leap on the goal line
just under the bar. 65 minutes had Astros Carlos
Amorim rush down the left and give a short pass to
Astros Mikateko Zwane whose 6 yard shot on left was
high and wide left. KFC got other chances to
score late when the Astros pressed for the tieing
goal even after going a man down. One was at
80 minutes when KFC Olivier Rieutord had a 12 yard
shot that the goalie made a point blank save on
at 6 yards. 82 minutes had KFC Al-Badry blast a 20
yard shot from the left that had the goalie fly
backwards to palm over the bar at 5 yards.
92 minutes had Astros Maxim Dorneval break up
a four on one breakaway when he cut off KFC
Al-Badry's cross from the left.

I counted Astros with three Yellow cards plus
the Red and KFC with two Yellows (although
I had both going to Edgar Soglo so I must have
seen it wrong) in a not overly rough game.

The game was scheduled for a 4:30pm kick off
but play didn't start until 5:45pm. No reason
was given to the fans but it was because the
referee ruled that the colours of the uniforms
clashed. Kingston wore all red with white
numbers and black shoulders. Astros wore
orange socks and shirts with black shorts
and numbers. Orange shirts vs red shirts!
What's wrong with that? Ennio the PA guy
says he even saw a CSL television broadcast
last season with orange vs red. It wouldn't
look great for someone with a vintage 1970s
colour TV but created no problems here and
this wasn't a television game. Kingston
was the road team but they were 260km from
home. Astros have a black kit but they
wore that Friday night against TFC Academy
and I suppose that was still in the wash.
Now what? League Administrator Pino Jazbec
was in attendance and his call to the
Director of Officials Tony Comacho resulted
in a decision that the game would be played.
75 minutes delay for that?

Can we hear thunder in the distance? Is
that lightning too? Yes and Yes. The game
started but by 19 minutes it was delayed
because the storm had moved overhead. The
storm blew over 11 minutes later but there
is supposed to be some rule that the game
can't start until 30 minutes after the last
bolt of lightning. Somehow the game
restarted 23 minutes after the storm started
and continued. The fans got drenched one
more time before halftime and by the end
of the game the sun came out again.

The fans were not given any reason for the
delay to start the game? Do you think
they'll be back? Hmm No because a small
majority were Kingston fans.

The game ended at 7:55pm which was just
5 minutes before a game was starting
the other side of the city between
the 2nd and 3rd place teams with the
winner jumping into 1st. Toronto
Croatia and SC Toronto were facing off
to leap over the idle TFC Academy.
I decided I'd stay to see the end of
this game.

Kingston's win leaves them in 14th place
and the Astros loss leaves them 16th
(last) in the league. Astros lost
by the same 2-1 score against TFC Academy
on Friday night.

Toronto FC (MLS) midfielder Oscar Cordon
was here today watching his younger brother
Astros midfielder Allan come in as
a substitute in today's game.

Kingston FC execs were happy before the game
as they've just signed a new player four
days ago. He warmed up as #17 but was not
on the game sheet. He's a Russian Federation
attacking midfielder named Vitaliy Sidorov
who played for FC Sibir and last year for
FC Olimpia of Moldova.

Pictures to give you the chance to judge if red vs orange would have made you cancel the game.
