Title: New U Sector Website Opens
Description: Visit USector.ca

Ryan Keay - September 18, 2006 02:05 AM (GMT)
As of today, the U Sector has a site to call its own. While the time existing as a mere message board was sufficient, with all of the developments taking place with Toronto FC, it was time to add more.

The ultimate goal is to make USector.ca not only the website of the premier supporters group of Toronto FC but to also make USector.ca the website where all supporters of Toronto FC will look to first for coverage of our team.

USector.ca is committed to providing the best, fastest, and most comprehensive coverage of Toronto FC news. In addition to that, we also plan to provide a significant amount of reading material with numerous regular columnists on the site giving their views and opinions on Toronto FC, Canadian Soccer and much more.

As of this moment, we already have four committed columnists. I will be writing a regular column for this site as well as providing news updates. Rudi Schuller will be providing his Top 9 lists on various topics as well as another column. Zac Rip will write the Zac Attack, his views and coverage of the world of soccer. Jay Karp and the North Boys will also be regular contributors to this site. We also anticipate adding more writers to our lineup in the near future.

We also plan to make USector.ca the ultimate resource regarding all things Toronto FC, with player bios, team statistics, as well as a comprehensive history which will be built as the club creates its own history.

The site will also have features for the U Sector, as well as photos, video and audio of events attended by the U Sector.

Of course, the message board will remain a key feature of the website, with easy access to from pretty much any page on the site.

So have fun, take a look around and let us know what you think. We're hoping you enjoy it.

Click here to check it out.

Nice. I'm pretty decent with web design stuff (non-flash, mainly, html and css) if you ever need any help.

SeanKeay - September 18, 2006 04:33 AM (GMT)
Great work done by ryan, i could just look beside me and say good work.

But i should let everyone know that he was the man behind this all..

Rudi - September 18, 2006 04:40 AM (GMT)
Yeah, having seen the site take shape over the last few days (the man works fast), I am nothing less than impressed.

Kudos to Ryan for all of the hard work, with more to come in the future as the first kickoff gets closer.

AgainstSteve - September 18, 2006 05:32 AM (GMT)
kudos Ryan, great job on the site, it's really nice and clean looking and i think will really attract people to the group

the content is great (esp. considering how little info there is out there right now) though i would say the banner could be freshened to be a bit more interesting (sorry, the multimedia/political science major in me can't not criticize anything much less a web site)

if you're willing i can try to come up with a couple designs and see if anything tickles your fancy, i'm also decent at flash (and i'm taking a course in actionscripting so give me a few months and i'll have more to work with). while i wouldn't actually put any flash in the regular site itself perhaps we could have some fun stuff like a karaoke style bouncing-ball-sing-a-long to teach what songs we sing (with video of us) down the road

oh, and just one small thing, the "next meeting" button on the right hand side isn't liked to the meeting's actual page, it took me a lil while to track it down so you should update that when you get the chance

RealGooner - September 18, 2006 12:39 PM (GMT)
The site looks great! Kudos for a job well done guys.

Not to mention Rudi....who combs the Usector landscape through rain, sleet, blizzard and gloom of night against those who dare injure the U-SEC supporters by volleying prawn sandwiches from said ivory towers.

Hehe...

I seem to have become something of a celebrity at other boards, too.

Ryan,

Website is out of date! B)

Standings?

RealGooner - October 6, 2006 08:57 PM (GMT)
Hi Ryan, how about putting the new Usector designed Toronto FC scarf up as a banner or something on the opening page? I think its important for new visitors to the site to immediately see this accomplishment. It really is a huge feather in Usector's cap. This is the TFC's first ever scarf, Usector designed it, and we should be shouting about it from the rooftops! People will be attracted to a group that looks like its doing alot of positive things and not just chatting away on a message board. We gotta spread the word brother. I think it would be cool to do.
Cheers and keep up the good work!

I think it stills says something about 115 instead of 113.
Somewhere in there...
I was reading at work (where they've blocked the messagboard  )

That's in the FAQ. It might also be in the U-Sector history, but I'm not sure.

Also, since it appears that we won't have an "official" October meeting, the "Next Meeting" graphic should probably be changed to advertise the MLS Cup get-together at Scallywags in November.

I like this idea... just trying to think of a good way to implement it :)
