back home its the standard meal, couple of sandwiches with cheese, and one or two with something sweet, hagelslag (chocolate sprinkles) or a jam of some sort. dont think while living there i ever ate anything else for lunch.

superkitten - March 3, 2008 06:20 PM (GMT)
I was hoping for a pasta lunch special, got all worked up for this awesome lasagna which usually appears in the commissary on Mondays. It was fucking cabbage rolls. So I had a turkey club wrap, and picked out the gross avocado. Seriously, who puts avocado in a club wrap? *sigh* I hate Mondays.

as a veggie, that's a bbq staple...don't have veggie dogs? not a problem as long as you have chips!

tDoB - March 3, 2008 06:45 PM (GMT)
Yea, pretty much grew up on this stuff. How about cheese on toast, or a personal favorite of mine cheese on a plate (which is as it sounds.. cheese melted on a plate.)?

jaahuuu - March 3, 2008 06:55 PM (GMT)
I brought a turkey & provolone sandwich to work, but it's still sitting in the fridge. I went to Wendy's and got a Triple Cheeseburger instead.

Black beans on a plate with cheese melted on top is incredible.

Indian Buffet. More food than I really needed.

HeavyD - March 3, 2008 10:11 PM (GMT)
I rarely have what I ate today and it's hilariously stereotypical. Chicken matzah ball soup and blintzes.

AgainstSteve - March 4, 2008 12:08 AM (GMT)
Roast turkey sandwich meat on a cheese bun. Delicious!

socceronly - March 4, 2008 05:07 PM (GMT)
Failed Lunch.

Szechuan Spicy Beef on rice.

I wouldn't feed this to my dog.

Must go seek more food.

Don't fuck with lunch.

What exactly is a blintz anyway?

I can't decide on lunch today. It's Roti day in the commissary, and they are quite delicious but I don't have time to nap it off this afternoon.

Sorry about your failed lunch Socceronly. I know that feeling, and it sucks.

Ryan Keay - March 4, 2008 05:33 PM (GMT)
I had a bowl of vegetable soup. One of those microwavable ones.. it was on sale, I tried it. Turned out to be half-decent. I should have packed a sandwich or salad with it though, as I am still hungry.

Never pass on the Roti.

Fuck, I may just have to go to the Caribbean shop down the street and grab one myself now.

Jarrek - March 4, 2008 05:51 PM (GMT)
Homemade lunches are usually the healthiest and most affordable options ... :)

Speaking of which I had a Ham, Salami and Cheese Sandwich with Horseradish Mayo on Sundried Tomato bread.

tDoB - March 4, 2008 06:09 PM (GMT)
Costco 2 dolla fries... would be a cheap place to take a date.

I agree, but I'm having my favourite food tonight, and I don't want to fill up on lunch.

And since I'm sure you're all dying to know, tonight I am having the most delicious mashup of my two favourite Salad King dishes:

Panang Curry + Hot Thai Noodle = Thai Islamic Curry and it is the best thing I have ever tasted. Ever.

SeanKeay - March 4, 2008 06:18 PM (GMT)
I had a pastromi, ham, hot banana peper sandwich x 2.....

and choco milk.. mmm milk

Ross - March 4, 2008 06:19 PM (GMT)

A blintz is actually like a crepe but wrapped up with ricotta cheese in the middle. Other fillings can be used like cherries or blueberries and usually sour cream and apple sauce are served on the side.

Lunch only mildly rescued by Second Cup Yogurt and coffee. Should be enough to keep me from stalking about with a rifle in a hypoglycemic rage.

The batter itself is pretty much identical to crepe batter. Stuff a crepe and fry it and you've technically got a blintz as far as I can tell.
