| Gutted at this news. I was a big admirer of Speed as a player, and he really looked promising as a manager. Shocking and sad. |

gutted indeed. He was a great player. If I recall back in the John Carver days in 208 did not Gary come over here for a bit and stay with TFC for a bit while he was working on his UEFA license? |

| Sky Sports News reporter Bryn Law was talking about Gary Speed earlier today, who were good friends for 20 years. Ended up breaking down towards the end. Difficult to watch, but certainly worth watching. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4PzcLoHiMc When I heard about how Gary Speed died, I thought back to the long tweet Stan Collymore posted just a couple days prior regarding his depression. I'm no expert on the subject, but the illness of depression has got to be one of the toughest conditions to diagnose, either because people don't recognize they have it, or they do so but simply keep it to themselves. I'm of course merely assuming that Speed suffered from depression, but it seems like a reasonable conclusion to make at this time. My outlook on depression, anxiety and suicide has changed drastically the last few years. I can't imagine how lonely a person must feel, when they see death as the only solution for escape, despite being loved by thousands of people. That, along with the brutality of the discovery and having to cope with his loss by his family, is the saddest part of all. On an aside, the less said about Joey Barton, the better. |
