So it seemed that he and Elena were definitely going to do the driving thing tonight.What better place did he have in mind for the two as he lifted up from his bed after Elena? It was simple enough to Damon. As he started to get dressed, he spoke towards her. " Do you want country life and minimal lights or do you want the lights of a big,beautiful cities drive though?" He wasnt exactly leaving the places that crossed his mind out in the open for her to figure out where they were going to wind up though.

After his shoes, pants and shirt had been placed on and he was fully dressed, he turned to look at Elena. He could watch her for hours just doing the things she did. It always mesmurized him. "Im ready when you are..once I get the keys downstairs." He walked to her, gave her a kiss to her moist lips and then offrered out his hand for her to take.

Elena dressed herself slowly. She was in no hurry to waste this night. It was the first night that she didn't have to worry about Klaus, or worry about her friends being hurt. At least not at the moment anyway. She pulled her hair out from her shirt after she slipped it on, her long brown hair spilling over her shoulder. She put on her shoes and headed down stairs after Damon.

"It really dosent matter where we go Damon. I am just going to leave it up to you." She smiled at him brightly and headed out the front door to get into his car.

Damon gave her one of those goofy, but cute, looks that he did when he found something to be cute or funny. The way Elena was so open to do things sort of made Damon act in a whole other manner. She was unique. Always open to things, or at least the things that didn't hurt the ones she loved or knew. Anyhow, he watched her leave his room. His eyes float down the back of her and then disappered to land where his keys had been placed.

He picked up his keys off a table on the way out the door. By this time Elena was nearly at his car. He used his speed to get before her and open that side of the door. He then eyed her a minute. "When you are with me..and still on this date sort of thing..Im going to be the one to opent he doors. Always. You are a ladyand need to be treated as one."

He waited until she was inside the car and then shut the door. He moved around to his side, got in and started up the automobile. Backing out of the boarding house, the direction he would take would be the first to have them leave out of Mystic Falls.

After a couple of minutes of driving, he glanced to Elena. " Elena, do you ever want children?" He knew it was an out of the blue question but he had always wondered that about her.

Elena was a little startled when she thought that no one would be standing in front of her and then in the blink of an eye Damon was standing in front of her with the passenger door open. Elena smiled up at him when she heard his explanation. "Damon you really don't have to do that. I am perfectly capable of opening the car door without hurting myself." Then she got into the car and buckled up.

Elena sat quietly in the car just listening to the radio. She leaned her head back against the head rest, and gazing out of the window. Hearing his random question she looked to him curiously. It had been a while since she last even thought if she wanted a family. The last person she had that conversation with was Stefan.

"It's been a while since I thought of that. I would like to have kids and get married some day But as long as Klaus is in the picture that will never be an option for me. But just out of curiousity why do you ask?"

Damon smirked suddenly. He of course had his own reasons for asking but wasn't so sure if he should air them to Elena.. She'd probably get mad or the words he'd speak would make her think of Stefan and that wasnt what he wanted to do.

He continued to drive some more til they were fully out of town. It wasn't until he was out of town and trying the completely other way than he first planned, did he bother to speak again. " Alright...so Vegas it is. We'll get married...the children part well figure something out later...hows that sound?" He started to push down on the pedal, just as a sign came up directing them to a highway that the duo could travel across the US to on and ultimately get to Vegas by.

Get married? What? He couldn't be serious! Elena looked to him in shock. Judging by the look on his face he definately was serious. "Damon! No! I am not getting married to you or to anyone!" Her heart had leapt up into her throat by now as he pushed down upon the gas pedal. She should have known that he was going to do something crazy.

This could not be happening not now! "Damon, don't you get it? Klaus will destroy everyone in my life, I can't bring children into this and he will only kill you! Stop the car!" She was getting angry, how could he force something like this upon her. She looked to him, anger written all over her face. "Damon. I really do love you but I am just not ready to get married!"

Damon slammed on the breaks to his car fast. He couldn't believe what he just heard. She wouldn't marry him? He didn't care that she'd never marry anyone else, but it was the tone and how she said it to him. Once the car came to a stop, he turned his head and stared at her. He found himself getting offended. Blue eyes darkened.

Ah I see, Klaus wins again. Not you. Not me. Not what we want. Fuck, Elena. Pissed? Yes, he was. Even if he could see her point, he wasn't going to at the moment. He turned back around and pushed the door open. Thank god, the duo had been driving on a lonely secluded road. Getting out of his car, he let the car door slam behind him. There were trees off to the side of the road and that was where he headed. As soon as he got there, his fist slammed into the truck of the tree.

Of all the things going on lately, Damon was on his last strings. He was tired of helping or trying to help his brother. He was tired of Klaus sticking his nose in things. He was tired of Elena worrying and more importantly, for gods sake, why would she be the rational sane one at the moment? He couldn't handle that.

She had to place her hands against the dash to keep from getting her head slammed into the wind shield. It figured that he would be angry with what she had said but it was nothing but the truth. She knew that much and often times the truth was not pretty. After a hundred and fourty six years of living you would have thought that he would have figured that out by now.

Elena sat in the car for a few moments before she unbuckled herself and got out of the car. It was best to leave Damon to himself and to let him cool off. That much she knew because look how many other people made the mistake of standing in his way. They all ended up dead. Elena wrapped her arms around herself and started walking away.

Damon had heard her open the door and get out. He had to stare off into the darkness of the trees a moment or two longer before he turned though. When he did, he noticed that she was walking away from the car and was a good length away. Damn. That wasn't what he wanted either. With a growl, he turned and used that speed vampires had to bring himself to where she was. Elena..

He brought a hand up and took ahold of her hand. He gave it a gentle squeeze. His sky blue eyes landing on hers. The intensity he had in his gaze was unmistakable. I'm being an ass Elena... I didn't ... He wasn't one that was good on appologies. Sorry. I love you Elena.

He let go of her hand and brought his hands up to cup her cheeks. He leaned forward and took his lips to hers, kissing her deeply and with passion. A passion that she had brought out of him and shown him he had within.A few minutes later, he broke the kiss and peered deep into her chocate eyes.

She had not been expecting him to catch up with her so soon. He stopped her from walking and actually started to apologize for the way he acted. That was definately a first. Elena looked up at him sadly, but still standing by her word. She did care about him but she just was not ready to take that final step.

Elena melted into his arms as he pulled her into another kiss. She kissed him back passionately. When he broke the kiss she gazed up into his eyes. "Damon, I really do love you. I'm just not ready to take that final step. It's just too soon." Her hands came up and gently took his hands into her own. "Please don't be angry Damon. I didn't mean to upset you. "It's just too soon for me."

Damon listened to her words and gave her a nod. He understood them but didn't have to like em. His head went casted to the side. Eyes take in his car and then go back to her. Elena, I don't want to do this anymore. I don't want to fight for a brother who don't care. He is not going home. He doesn't want you, I dont think he really wants me..and I wish to be honest, Stefan would leave us both alone. I want to take you so far away from this. If it had to be the other side of the world I would.

He held onto her hand and gaze it a squeeze. I Lets try and have a good night..what to do you? I probably ruined it now, but Id like to try.. Well head to DC and find somewhere quiet and realaxing. He released his hold of her hands and then started stepping back to the passenger side of his car to open the door for her.

"Damon I know what Stefan said to be. I do not need to be reminded of that. I want to be able to forget about him, I just can't. Stefan will always be a bit part of my life and I can not forget it. And I do not want to be compelled." Sheknew that was going to be his next offer. Elena let out a small sigh and followed him back to the car. Elena got into the car and sat down, buckling herself up once again.

"Damon we really don't have to go anywhere. I am perfectly content just being here in the car with you." She smiled and unbuckled herself again and climbed into the back of the car, sitting down into the back seat. Then she grabbed hold of his arm and started to pull him into the back with her.

Damon took a deep breath. As much as he wanted to be upset and angry at the world for what was going between him, Elena, and his brother, he found it hard to do when he looked into Elenas eyes. She was torn. He knew she was. He couldn't blame her for not wanting to forget about his brother. He had been there himself one time with Katherine. Instead of speaking though, Damon just watched her get back into the car and buckle up. Drive. That had been his intention but he couldn't. He stared straight ahead in deep thought.

The sound of the buckle coming back undone had Damons eyes flicker towards Elena. As he watched her climb into the back, he thought on protesting. Granted he was parked off on the side of the road in a desolete area, he was preoocupied mentally. It was so hard for him to deny Elena. It was so hard to deny her anything,for that matter. She was fine with being in the car with him. He let her tug him back into the backseat once she got herself back there.

His body climbed over the seat and melted down next to her. He gently pulledd her against him and leaned back. He let out a sigh of contentment. " Elena, Im sorry." Of course he was readily saying sorry for ruining the night and their arguement. He lifted his left hand and brought it up to her hair. Fingers sunk deep into the thick brown hair and combed through it lightly.

Elena rested against him in the back seat of the car, laying her head against his shoulder, her eyes closing in contentment. "Damon, its okay. Really. I'm just not ready to take that step yet." She brought her hand up and took his hand into her own, lacing their fingers together.

Elena leaned up and looked into his beautiful blue eyes. "I still have some growing up to do Damon before I can make that final step. I want to finish school, maybe go to college." But of course there were other questions that were weighing upon her mind to. Like if they did take that step, what if she wanted kids? O

Of course they couldn't have kids of their own, but that didn't mean they couldn't adopt or even do it artificially. How would he handle having children around? He has already killed a lot of people just because they made him mad. That thought along was enough to scare her into reconsidering not having any kids.

Blue eyes looked back to hers. He had to half smirk to make light of the comment that she wanted to grow up some more. " You would think, since having met the wonderful world of the not so living the past year or so, youve done alot of growing up Elena. How much more could there be?" Then she mentioned college. He grunted. " Well, yeah, theres that...I guess." Bleh, she didn't need college, at least that was how Damon looked at it. " You got the Salvatores to take care of you Elena. No need to worry about that." He rolled his eyes. " If youre wanting to make money or get some type of job, well...I can hire you to do something at the house." Yeah, now there was an idea! Put Elena in a little maids outfit. Damon could look at those long sexy legs of hers all day. He blinked and pushed that thought out of his head.."Okay, I know what youre saying."

"You realize, your life will never be normal again I hope Elena." Jesus, she did realize that. He hoped. She was discendant to Katherine. Klaus wanted her for her blood. People tried to kill her. Her ex was a madman. No normality anywhere he could see. He eyed her and then grinned.

Damon grew quiet and leaned his head back. Thoughts went to Stefan and the last meeting he had with him. He had let it slip out he was with Elena. "Um, Elena?" He lifted his head back up and looked to her. " You might want to kill me now..,.or later."
