Sigs?

At some point are we going to try and have a uniform signature style for our ship?

I'm still a relative photoshop noob but I'd give it a go and create some, if others are interested?

What do you have in mind? Any sketches we can see?

Okay folks, here are the initial designs I was thinking of, I'm bouncing around a few alternatives in my head ATM.

Anyway, tell me what you think, if people aren't mad about them I can easily put together some others.

One of these designs has a white halo, the other doesn't, I'll leave it up to you which looks best.

Okay, following a discussion with the XO, I'm posting some initial designs for more generic banners, in the idea that people will be able to put up more personalised stuff alongside it, to match our wonderful personalities

Taking on the Scientific nature of the Nova Class:



Or just a generic Delta design:



Or a more stylised Hawk from Hawking since the word has other constituent parts other than Mr Stephen, Britains finest:



Please note these are only rough.

They're all pretty neat, especially the atomic designs that are first in the post. I don't like the sword much for a science vessel.

The initial designs were okay, but I'd much rather replace the Hawking with something else. Maybe something in the same vein as the atomic symbol, but specialized according to department.

Oh, and the Captain and I recently retconned Iliari's rank to PO1, and it's "Commander, Air Group," no "of the." That's just nitpicking, and not about the design.

So if I take the first set of designs and swap the ship with a scientific or departmental themed object, would that fit the bill? Only as I said the XO raised the point that there isn't much personalisation. Although, if I shrink the banners so they're not so big, there'll still be room left in the signature box for a bit of customisation.

I shall have a go once I've finished my Fusion Essay for Chemistry.

Well, if I'm going to have it in my signature for the forseeable future, I want it to be as perfect as possible.

Anyway, that's pretty much what I had in mind, swap the ship for some kind of stylish insignia. Shrinking the vertical height just a little would be nice, and maybe let us choose our own font?

Okay, here's my insignia examples, one from each department atm.

Crosshair - Air Group
Shield - Security
Reactor - Engineering
Star - Command

Then as the Atom went down well, that can always represent the sciences if we get any science officers in the future.

And also, do people prefer the departmental colour schemes, or would you prefer a single colour scheme for everyone?

How about the actual departmental insignias, are they okay? The Shapes I mean. If anyone else can think of better ones do tell me.

Departmental color schemes are definitely a good thing. It's a nice bit of personalization, and it makes them distinctive.

The symbols you chose are simple, effective, and easily recognizable. Win.

Okay then, I shall make up the full quality versions and present them to the Captain for her executive opinion.

Okay, now I shall obtain a bit more feeback before presenting my designs to the woman upstairs

Alignments:

I think the nuclear symbol might be a tad too high.
Crosshair could be a smidgen up and to the left.
Shield down a hair.

General:

A little bit of blur around the edges, particularly the spheres, is in order.

Think I could have the .psd of mine to play with it, see if there's anything cool I can do with it?
