Title: New Members

Kivisto - December 10, 2006 05:51 AM (GMT)
Just happened to notice that Ellelt is awaiting validation to become a member. Figured this would be the easiest way to be the first to welcome him into the DEFCON fold.

HI! :D

Once you arrive, I'll actually answer a question that you TG'ed to me about a week or so ago. Sorry I haven't gotten back to you with it earlier.

omgHack - December 11, 2006 03:50 AM (GMT)
Oh noes! The commies are invading!

Karmicaria - December 11, 2006 03:53 AM (GMT)
I'm not welcoming Ellelt until Cluich validates his account.

You're just bitter because I got to do it first. :P

Cluichstan - December 11, 2006 02:05 PM (GMT)
Sorry, as y'all know, I'm not usually around much on the weekends. I'll validate him right now.

Welcome to DEFCON, Ellelt!

Commies need to be able to defend themselves, too, y'know. :P

Well Hello everyone,

I must say that I was a bit suprized myself with Cluich invited me to join UNDEFCON. I would have thought our politics were more different than similar. And No need to fear Hack, I dont think that you will have a hoard of my fellow communists pouring in to DEFCON.

Some of you already know the loveable Vladimir Khernynko, who is to say the least a bit too lovable.

But we are glad to be here and now, and ready to begin work on some sorely needed defense proposals/repeals. I can see one I would like to see...the repeal of land mines. If I want to build a wall around my country and place land mines infront of that wall its my business so long as those land mines are within my boarders. Damned UN micromanagement.

Anyway Thanks for the Invite

Nekstor Brunzov
Elleltian Minister of Defense.

Howdy! Good to see you here. :)

You shouldn't be surprised at all. The domestic priorities of Cluichstan and Ellelt are most certainly divergent, but Ellelt has also shown a keen interest in international-security issues in the UN. International security should be important to all nations, regardless of their particular political or socio-economic views, because it involves the very security and continued existennce of those nations and their views. All nations -- whether they be republican democracies, constitutional monarchies, socialist autocracies, or tree-hugging hippie communes -- need to be able to defend themselves, and DEFCON was created to ensure that they have that ability.

As for a hoard of communists descending upon DEFCON, I say bring 'em on! The more people that are interested in ensuring nations' rights to defend themselves, the better. It would not only increase the voice of this organisation, but it would also demonstrate that international security isn't a left-versus-right issue. It's an international issue, regardless of any nation's particular individual political philosophy.

The repeal of the landmine ban was one of the very first initiatives undertaken by DEFCON, but sadly, although it reached quorum, it was defeated on the floor of the UN. We'd love to see work on it revived, though, and another attempt made to get it passed.

Cordially,
Sheik Nottap bin Cluich
Cluichstani Defense Minister
Chairman, UN DEFCON

Oh yeah. Ellelt. You had sent me a TG about a week and a half ago asking about the Creative Solutions Agency. Sorry I never got back to you, but I'm terrible for remembering to return TG's.

In short, the CSA is an agency, originally formed within Omigodtheykilledkenny, whose major purpose in existence is to circumvent distateful legislation They would be the ones who some up with ideas like renaming certain sites so that the land they sit upon is no longer on the World Heritage List. That one isn't an issue anymore, but you get the idea.

To set one up within your own nation, you'd first want to find a name that is more appropriate for your government, as I think that the Kennyites may have trademarked "CSA" as a name. After that, it is simply a matter of staffing it with shysters who enjoy finding every miniscule loophole in every possible law and examine every facet of how these loopholes can be exploited and used.

Within Kivisto, we do not have a Creative Solutions Agency, as such, we simply utilize a sub-group from within our ministry that goes over potential legislation to figure out how any new law is going to fuck us over. The task is similar, while working towards a different end.

For more information on the CSA, you can always follow the link to the article about them in OMGTKK's sig on jolt.

The dated article in terrible need of an update.

Ellelt - December 14, 2006 02:55 AM (GMT)
Well I was thinking along the same lines anyway. However we call it the Department for the Interpretation of International Law. and is housed in the Ministry of Justice. The Ministry of "Justice" is where we keep our shysters.

Thanks for pointing out the link in OMGTKK's Sig...but I already have looked at it, you were a wee bit late. Cause I knew he had the CSA originaly thanks to NSwiki. So I answered my question already...But thanks for confirming it.

Kivisto - December 14, 2006 03:51 PM (GMT)
Figured you would have sussed it out by now, but I thought I'd respond so you didn;t think I was just ignoring the TG.

Ellelt - December 14, 2006 07:45 PM (GMT)
:D its okay, I rarely expect to be responded to particularly when im using my un clone.

However thanks for answering.
