Hi Guys,

I need some help please, I have to fit a remote oil filter on the new engine as the present position means it will come into contact with the steering column. I bought one and the filter head has an arrow saying which way to plumb it, unfortunately the bit that bolts onto the engine in place of the oil filter doesnt, so my question is which way does the oil come into the filter, ie. through the screw or around into the cartridge and then back through the screw? or even does it matter? I know it is late and my brain might be a tad fuddled.

It is for the Zetec black top.

Thanks for your help.

Bob

Hi Bob, haven't read through your link but the standard flow direction for a spin-on filter is with oil flowing from the outside of the canister to the inside, this stops the pleats within the filter from being blown outwards, and gives a higher surface area (greater capacity for particles, and lower restriction).
