Title: Pen Mod Tutorials
Donk3y - March 22, 2006 03:10 AM (GMT)
I've split the UCPSB V2 and UPSB lists into more managable, separate posts. Below is a table of content of sorts to easily get to each post in this thread.UPSB Tutorial ListsFile-Front Listing of UPSB mod tutorialsForum Thread LinksUCPSB V2 Tutorial ListsSingle-Sided RetractablesSingle-Sided Non-RetractablesDouble-Sided RetractableDouble-Sided Non-Retractables

how nice of you guys to divide the list a bit and thanks to whoever added all the other mods
And in the first post it should be UPSb instead of UCPSB v1, all those mods are from the UPSB list

How often does this thing get updated becuz i'm too lazy looking for new mods.
sketching - December 26, 2006 08:52 PM (GMT)
Either, whenever I get around to it (HaHa!) or when someone else decides to go around and list more of them in a new post. I'll be glad to update the lists at the top if anyone else cares to crawl through the threads anymore.

I guess this doesn't add much to the topic, but i just wanted to say thanks to NF Alex and sketching for continuing my work with the list. And I promise one day I'll finish the list (filter out the crappy mods, add what pens are used so it will be easier for noobs...), and I still have to finish the list of all pens used in modding and pics of all of them.
Dark Angel-REX - December 26, 2006 11:58 PM (GMT)
yes NF Alex, you are a great help! thanx!
people like me, they are too lazy
sketching - December 27, 2006 05:36 AM (GMT)

TurbulentTurtle - February 4, 2007 06:45 AM (GMT)
Then the noobs are gonna miss out.

I was looking for mechanical pencil mods and it's a bother to read through the enormous list of pen mods to find just a few of those scattered <_< so I was thinking maybe a pencil/mechanical pencil section could be added, right now it's a little hard to find just those tutorials in the middle of all those pen tutorials. A friend of mine said to me the same thing some time ago but back then I didn't look for any mechanical pencil mods but now I understand him lol. If anyone wants I will gladly verify all the mods to sort out all of the pencil/mechanical pencil mods

You should totally read through all of the threads, find the useful ones, then compile a list and make a thread about it. I can tell you from personal experience that it is SO MUCH fun!
Seriously though, it takes a whole lot of time to do that sort of thing, if you want it done, it's best to get right down and do it yourself, rather than hoping that someone else will do it for you.
silv3rmind - September 11, 2007 11:37 PM (GMT)
Ok, no problem at all, I kinda like this kind of stuff =) as soon as I can I'll get all of them sorted out and see what I can do, maybe till the end of the week, I'll have it done =D
K4S - September 12, 2007 02:45 AM (GMT)
There are a few mechanical pencil mods (spinmatic comes to mind)...ive made 3 different types but have only released a tutorial for 1 of them...i'll probably release another one when i dont feel so lazy

whatever you said goes here, i can't be stuffed checking or going back and quoting
When someone decides to post all the pen mods that aren't on there :D. You have to realise that mods have a lot to do and can't spend all their time doings simple (but very time consuming) jobs such as these. Remember , they don't get paid to moderate this forum.
Plus, since UPSB is up now I'm not sure if there's much point updating this. Mods, if you want this to still be updated then I will post all the mods since last time you updated (it may take a while tho :D).

Ok, yesterday I began sorting the mods list, but instead of just sorting the pencil/m. pencil mods, I'm building a database with all the mods in this thread with all the relevant characteristics. I'm building this database for now in Excel and currently I have this categories to fill up (by the order they appear):
- Mod Name: the name of mod, simple as that
- Author: the name of the author who invented it
- Type: if it is a pen, pencil or mechanical pencil mod
- Siding: if it is single sided or double sided (the name of the category sounds a little weird, any other possible name to refer this detail?)
- Retractable: if it is retractable or not
- Writable: if it possible to write with it or not
- CoG: where the center of gravity is
- Length (cm): the length of the mod
- Weight (g): the weight of the mod
- Main Parts: main parts used for the mod, just to have an idea of what is needed
- Tutorial: reference to the tutorial, if any
All categories are classified usually with a letter or something more complex if needed, I'm also adding the legend of each category has a comment when the mouse hovers the category name, currently this is how I'm doing it:
- The name of the mod, possibly including the short name of it
- The name of the author(s) who invented it
- P - Pen; PC - Pencil; MPC - Mechanical Pencil
- S - Single Sided; D - Double Sided
- Y - Yes, it is retractable; N - No, it isn't retractable
- Y - Yes, it is possible to write; N - No, it isn't possible to write
- n - "n" centimeters away from CoP; T - To the tip side; B - To the back side; C - Centered; N - Not centered
- n - "n" centimeters of length; A < B - Mod A is shorter than Mod B; A = B - Mod A has same/almost same length as Mod B;
- n - "n" grams of weight; A < B - Mod A is lighter than Mod B; A = B - Mod A has same/almost same weight as Mod B;
- All relevant main parts used to make the mod
- Not quite sure how to do it, probably adding a link to the forum post or file from where you can get it, but I'm seriously thinking about adding all the tutorials to the file, and put a link in this category to the respective place of the tutorial in the file
Note: All the relevant categories from which I can't find any information about it, I'll put a N/A
tag, to reference this.
So, I would like some comments or suggestions on this, as it is a huge database to build and I'd like to know what you think B)

That is pretty damn sweet. :thumb:
silv3rmind - September 17, 2007 01:18 AM (GMT)
Nice to hear that  I think I had a bad start lol, I began categorizing the mods from the old UPSB (the ones that have to be downloaded from FileFront) and by that, every time I can't get some info I can't even check the thread for more stats on the forum since I'm kinda new around here and I can't log in there lol, either way when I have some more work done, I'll put my progress in here for download, so that (at least I hope so) I can get some feedback on this.
One more thing, I'll be posting this on the new UPSB on the same thread as this one, to try to get some more thoughts ^^
