The First Gym (oh Noez.), 8D I SUCK AT TITLES

"You're not going to beat my Staryu by mewing," Mizu snorted, hands on her hips. Staryu tried to imitate her pose, though its body wasn't quite flexible enough. "We'll beat you silly. Staryu! Rapid Spin!"

With an odd-sounding cry, the Staryu shot up into the air and began to spin... well... rapidly. After rising a feet feet above the water, it soared at top speed toward Diablo with the intention of smashing into the bird.

/Well, it's plainly obvious that I'm not./ Mitri gave a snort as the thought crossed her mind, then raised a brow at Staryu, what the heck was it doing? She snickered lightly, maybe Mizu was right, and maybe they'd lose, but they could at least try, right?

Diablo gave a surprised chirp, and blown backwards, crashed onto land by Mitri's feet, "Nice try, Diablo. We had a good run." The auburn haired girl stated, taking out his Poke'ball, she opened it and the red beam swallowed the Taillow, and he disappeared a moment later.

Taking the other Poke'ball in her hand, she threw it into the air, and in front of her appeared her Pikachu, Jupiter.

"Chuu?" The Pikachu gave its ear a scratch, and tilted its head at Mizu and her Staryu.

"That mouse looks like it just came out of its egg," Mizu snickered. "Staryu, let's finish this. Tackle!"

Staryu stopped in mid spin and dropped back into the water. After a second, it launched itself at Jupiter in an attempt to knock the Pikachu backward.

[Mitri]

Mitri didn't comment, instead she flicked a strand of auburn hair out of her face and focused on Jupiter, "Dodge it!' The Pikachu stiffened, before leaping out of the way, "Okay, now use Quick Attack."

Jupiter skidded to a stop, and pressed all four legs hard onto the ground, a moment later, he pushed off - racing towards the Staryu at a high speed.

Not expecting the attack, the star pokemon found itself right in Jupiter's path as he shot himself at it. Direct hit! Staryu flew threw the air and ended up smashing into the other side of the gym. Stunned, it slumped to the ground and couldn't move for a moment.

"Dammit! C'mon, Staryu, snap out of it!" Mizu cried in vain.

[Mitri]

The Pikachu gave a shrill, delighted squeal as the Staryu went flying across the room. Lifting one paw, it gave it a lick and drew it over its ears, before posing- as if for a picture. "Don't get too cocky, it's not over yet." Mitri sighed in reply, an eyebrow raised at her Poke'mon who only gave a jump in reply.

"Ech, okay, Thundershock then." The Pikachu clenched its little fists together into balls, sparks flaring from his cheeks, a moment later he gave a loud cry- a battle cry, perhaps, and shot a stream of electricity towards Mizu's Pokemon.

Still temporarily paralyzed, the Staryu hadn’t the energy to avoid the super-effective blast of electricity. The star’s body jerked involuntarily as the energy struck it, its energy draining rapidly as the electricity sapped its health.

“Oh, no! Staryu, don’t give in now!” Mizu cried, eyes wide. Finally, the electricity wore off of her Pokèmon, and the Staryu was able to get up. Shaking itself weakly, the water Pokèmon struck a ready pose and waited for another command. Its trainer nodded approvingly. “Excellent, good job! Now, let’s hit him with another rapid spin!”

Staryu jumped into the air and its body began to twirl in an insanely fast matter. It reared back for a few seconds in mid-air before flying at an amazing speed toward Jupiter.

'We can win this!' Mitri thought, tsking her tongue as she watched Mizu and her Staryu. As long as Jupiter hung in there and kept hitting Mizu's Poke'mon, it was a for-sure win! Right?

Jupiter let out a short sigh and twitched one black-tipped ear. He was already beginning to feel tired. The electric-mouse Poke'mon tensed when Staryu recovered from the previous attack.

Mitri groaned inwardly when she saw the Staryu get up.
"Okay, not a problem..." she breathed under her breath, then, raising her voice, added to her Poke`mon, "Jupiter, use Quick Attack to do-" She barely had time to utter the command when Staryu suddenly shot across the battlefield and rammed straight into her Pikachu.

Jupiter was sent flying backwards, and tumbled to the ground several feet away. "C'mon Jupiter! We've gotten this far, don't give up on me now!" Mitri whined.

At first, the Pikachu didn't respond, but after a moment, one of his back paws twitched and he sat up. Giving a vigorous shake of his head, Jupiter heaved himself back onto his paws and staggered back. "Good job," Mitri praised, then glanced back at Mizu's Staryu. "Alright, let's wrap this up! Jupiter, Quick Attack!"

Jupiter reluctantly followed Mitri's command, and leapt forward - picking up speed as he raced towards Staryu in a head-on attack.

The Staryu had landed on Mitri’s edge of the pool to recover from the energy-consuming attack. Therefore, it was extremely easy for Jupiter to reach it when he used the quick attack. Besides that, the star-shaped Pokèmon was in such a close range that it hadn’t the time to up and avoid the speedy strike. Thus, it once again was hit and sent flying across the floor. It skid across the water, body bouncing on the liquid like a skipping rock. It finally came to a rest at the other end of the gym, where it sunk into the pool.

“Come on, Staryu! We can’t lose now!” Misu shouted, running up to the side of the pool as if she wanted to jump in and retrieve her Pokèmon. A second later, though, her Staryu jumped out of the water on its own and landed beside her. It looked very tired, but managed to stand up straight. “Good! Now, from here, use water gun!”

The Staryu’s top point reared back for a split second before jerking forward. As it did, a powerful stream of water shot from it and soared toward Jupiter.

Jupiter bounced back as soon as he'd whacked into Miyu's Staryu, and skidded to an uneasy stop. Despite the stinging in the bottom of his backpaws, he clenched his little fists together, preparing for the next attack.

Mitri squinted her eyes to watch as Staryu got up; she could have sworn that would have finished it and the battle would've been over! Lost in thought, she hadn't noticed the stream of water shooting at Jupiter until the very last moment, "Agh! Jupiter, dodge it!"

The little mouse Pokemon's tall, black-tipped ears perked, and he darted over to the right. He'd almost avoided it, but the stream hit his flank, spinning the little mouse Pokemon around. Whacking into the ground, Jupiter slowly rolled back onto his paws, and shook his rump; sending little water droplets in random directions. "Hang in there, lil' guy. Use Thundershock!" she directed.

Jupiter instantly obeyed, sparks flaring from the red patches on his cheeks, he sent a thin streak of electricity at Staryu.

(( Ooooh, Sparx. Please tell me if I'm Godmoding. It feels like Jupiter's been in this battle for way too long after being hit about thirty times. ToT; ))

((You're fine.))

"Yes! good job, Staryu!" Mizu cried with a grin, clenching her fists victoriously as the water gun hit. "Now finish this with one last Rapid Sp- ah?"

The gym leader realized too late that Jupiter was attacking again. Staryu began to spin again anyway, getting ready to carry out its command, completely oblivious. Mizu opened her mouth to tell her Pokemon to stop and dodge, but she was too slow. The thundershock hit, and after a brief seizure, Staryu fell back to the ground and moved no more. After a moment, the red light on its gem blinked out.

"No!" the woman cried, cluthing her hair. "Inconceivable! Impossible! How did you...? Return."

Resigned, Mizu called Staryu back to its pokeball and returned the sphere to its place. Slouching slightly, the bummed leader reached into a small pocket on her bathing suit and pulled out something small. Walking over to Mitri, the older trainer tossed three items to the victor; two Kelpsi berries and a wavy sapphire badge.

"I don't know how you did it, but you won. That's the Sapphire badge; now your Pokemon will feel slightly stronger and higher leveled Pokemon will be quicker to obey you." Mizu sighed, looking away. "Congratulations. That's all I have to say."

Jupiter gains three levels.

Mitri forced back a cry of delight when she saw the gem blink out. She'd won! She'd actually won!

Her smile disappeared when Mizu tossed over the three items and hesitantly reached out to catch them. Tucking in one arm, she fished out Jupiter's Poke'ball and called the tired Pikachu back, "Good job, Jupiter; return."

After the red beam had dissappeared, she put the Poke'ball back into its bag, along with the other items; and glanced at Mizu, "Uhh, thank you," she replied, nodding to the Gym Leader.

AFTER A COUPLE OF MONTHS THIS THREAD IS FINISHED.

Giving a slight shrug, Mitri turned on her heel and walked out of the Gym without another word. Obviously the Gym Leader was either too busy moping, or just didn't want to talk or say anything to the leaving challenger.
