PERSONALITY: Violet is very much her own person- independent and stubborn. She isn't shy by any means, but she's not one of those girls who talks just to fill up empty space; she's thoughtful and there's usually truth behind her words, however catty or direct they may be. She doesn't play it cool just for the sake of other people's feelings, and her mouth has gotten her into trouble more than a few times.
Violet doesn't put up with bullshit and has a knack for seeing through fakes. She's blunt and up-front with what she's feeling, and she'll be the first to tell you if something is pissing her off. She has a temper and swears like a sailor, but she isn't completely tactless. And she's comfortable with who she is so she isn't looking to earn anyone's approval but her own- she's loyal to herself first and foremost, and goes after what she wants. Everyone else tends to fall by the wayside.

BACKGROUND: Violet was raised solely by her father Dennis. Her mother was killed in a car accident when Violet was just a baby so she has no substantial memories of the woman. Her father worked as a janitor for a public school in the city, and he did the best job he could of raising Violet himself. Money was tight most of the time, but Dennis had a vibrant imagination and would make up games for Violet to play when he couldn’t afford to buy her real toys.
When they were short on food they would play ‘ration’, in which Violet and her father were being held captive by the elusive villain Dennis called ‘Man’. If their electricity went out it was because ‘Man’ had cut the power line in accordance with some evil scheme that almost always had to do with ridding the world of good people. But for some reason, Man’s reach never extended further than the Ashman’s front porch.
When Violet grew older, she attended the same school her father worked at. At first, she loved being able to see her dad all the time, but she was often made fun of and eventually grew embarrassed as she came to realize what a loser her father really was. She stopped believing in Man, and her relationship with her father became strained as she started to rebel against him in the form of boys, alcohol, and bad grades. She ended up running away at 16, sure that she didn't need her father to take care of her anymore and ended up in Dexly.
Living on her own was harder than she thought, and in order to support herself, she got a job stripping at the Shady Lady and was from then on out referred to by her stage name Gypsy.
