Welcome to Dexly.
For all appearances it would seem like any other polluted, conglomerate small-town- most everyone knows your name, what you do, who your friends are…and who you were cheating on your wife with last night. Though it is unique in the sense of its isolation.
The nearest neighboring city is two hours away, and while it is modern in most ways, in the realm of technology Dexly is far behind. The only television is located in City Hall and computers are limited to the hospital for purposes of research. So the citizens go by word of mouth and the paper alone for news. You can only hope you have a reliable source since you are virtually cut-off from the outside.
Dexly is truly a world of it's own.
There is an obvious distinction between the Upper and Lower districts of Dexly- those with money live lavishly, those without it struggle to get by, but there has always been happiness as well as tragedy on both ends.
A man named Vinne Spiro is looking to change all of that. Since arriving in Dexly, he opened The Shady Lady, a promiscuous night club in the Upper District, swindled his way into the good graces of the head pins of the key businesses in the city, and introduced a level of secrecy and sin unknown to the citizens prior. Sex, Drugs, and Money is the name of the game, and there are plenty willing to play.
Vinnie’s objective in all of this? Simple. To control Dexly from the inside out. He wants an empire and he’s not afraid of getting his hands dirty to build it.
There are few good people left, and most remain oblivious to the shady goings on by choice. The reporters at the Dexly Observer, however, are not looking to give up without a fight. They write the truth, though their words may get them into more trouble than they could ever believe. The corrupt don't take well to being exposed and will do anything in their power to keep a lid on things.
Will you put your life on the line for what you believe in? Or will you give in to a life of luxury and temptation? The line between good and bad is blurred and it's hard to distinguish where the loyalties lie. Neighborly trust is a thing of the past.
Will the Honest be able to resist the Corrupt? Or is a Total Eclipse just a matter of time?
