At the end of the school day Yamamoto always attended his Baseball Club practices. He'd practice his swings and pitches until sunset, at which point he'd shower off, pack up, and practice other sorts of swings and pitches in conversation with his friends. They'd walk home together, part their separate ways, and come together again in the morning. It was ritual, and today was no different.

But after standing and glancing around for a few minutes, Yamamoto came to the conclusion that Tsuna and Gokudera must've walked ahead of him today. He was somewhat disappointed by this - they were his companions, after all! - but he'd settle for a walk alone. It wasn't a bad thing to break out of habit, anyway, and who knows? Maybe he'd run into somebody he knew from the school.

With that thought (and a lot of empty air) occupying his thoughts, Yamamoto casually made his way back towards his home.

It had been a particularly boring day for her, and Youko's mood visibly showed that. First, she had been late (which hadn't even been her fault: her brother had forced her to eat all of her breakfast, which resulted in her wasting precious time!), which made the teacher give her detention. Youko hated to be alone in one room with her teacher, so she absolutely detested the detention. Second, it was her turn to prepare dinner: given that she only knew how to prepare takoyaki and she hated to follow instructions from a book (she never had much confidence in those), they (her and her brother) were most likely going to starve. And third, she disliked walking on the streets after sunset: it almost always resulted in her being attacked and being invited to join some miscellaneous street gang, despite her constant refusals (they just never gave up!). Well, that explained the gloomy air surrounding Youko...

As she walked on the streets, trying to ignore the whistles coming from high-school students (they were trying to "charm" a middle-school girl, for goodness sake!), the girl suddenly spotted a tall figure with spiky, black hair. She immediately recognized him (it was obviously a boy) as Yamamoto Takeshi, the star of the baseball team. "Ah, Yamamoto-san! Good evening!" she almost shouted, in order to make sure the boy noticed her. Normally, she would've ignored him (he was soo tall...), since she disliked everyone taller than her, but seriously, she just couldn't bring herself to do so for some reason...She smiled happily, hearing the whistles stop. A victorious smirk appeared on her face.

Yamamoto slowed to a stop when he heard a voice call for him from behind. It wasn't Gokudera or Tsuna, but a girl! Yamamoto recognized her from one of his classes, but, err, he couldn't remember which class exactly (sleep through enough of them and they all become a blur), or even what the girl's name was. He let it linger on the tip of his tongue while he waved the girl over, but by the time she was close enough to him his mind was still a complete blank.

"Hey there! Walking home from school, huh? It's kind of late!" He laughed a little, grinning with some bashfulness. "I'm sorry, but I can't remember your name right now! You know mine, but what's yours?"

A normal person would have expected Yamamoto's answer. I mean, who could remember every single name in the whole school, no matter how good a memory one has? It was, virtually, impossible. And being a star/school idol doesn't imply that one has to learn all of the names of the students in the school by heart. Let´s be reasonable: who would be stupid enough to do so? Youko, however, well-known (especially between her classmates) for her narcissistic attitude, did not bother to think rationally about it: it was too much a pain, and that would force her to accept the fact that she was not "all that great" (the last time somebody said that, he just "coincidentally" disappeared near her house, and was "coincidentally" landed in hospital for a month, whip-like marks on his shoulder). She would never accept that (why should she? It wasn't true, after all!), so she didn't bother to think rationally. What a good reasoning...

The girl, however, avoided to show her distaste in the boy's answer, covering it with a very, VERY bright smile. Youko gracefully shook her head, the same (fake, if I may say) smile plastered on her face. "Murasaki Youko. It's nice to meet you!" The wind suddenly blowed, making her long hair sway along. She had always liked it when it did this, because she knew that her appearance in that single moment was absolutely angelic (in her mind). She kept the smirk threatening to appear off her face: she would show him just what he lost not knowing her name before! Yay!

oocÑ I'm so, SO VERY sorry for the delay!! *bows repeatedly*
