FLASHPOINT FRIDAY: A CALL FOR QUESTIONS

user posted image

Do you like to play questions?

Do you know the rules?

Will I answer your questions about FLASHPOINT?

Isn’t that why you’re here?

Whatever *did* happen to the World’s Greatest Heroes?

Was Cyborg created to be their leader?

Who will the Resistance summon?

When do six become one?

These are all good questions. Here’s the thing: if everything you know will change in a Flash—and it will—then there are a lot of questions to be answered. Really interesting questions.

So it’s our good fortune that in the weeks and months to come, writer Geoff Johns, artist Andy Kubert and editor Eddie Berganza will all be making guest appearances to answer questions about FLASHPOINT, right here on THE SOURCE, as part of FLASHPOINT FRIDAY. Many of the answers will lead to new questions and that’s part of the fun.

Consider this an official open call for questions for you, the fans. Post your questions in the comments thread of this post, tweet them (#Flashpoint) or post them on the wall of the DC Nation Facebook page or the wall of the Flash Facebook page.

Be creative.

Be specific, but not too specific.

Have fun.

We’ll be answering at least five of the very best questions here on THE SOURCE in advance of issue 1.

The DC offices are closing early today and are closed Monday so this will be the last post on THE SOURCE til Tuesday morning when the offices re-open. With luck, as this post goes live, I’ll be flying out of the country for an international, off the grid vacation. But in my absence, we have lots of great stuff in store for next week on the Source and Graphic Content, including next week’s FLASHPOINT FRIDAY.

Ready?

Do you have a question to ask?

What is the FLASHPOINT? Is there a moment where everything in the DC Universe as we know changes?

When you open up the first issue, you’ll enter an entirely new world that will be both familiar and new. Flash will learn what the universe would be like if the world’s greatest super-heroes never became the world’s greatest super-heroes. When, how and why everything changes and what that means to the future of the DC Universe will be answered in the series. Oh, and Andy Kubert has done an absolutely unbelievable job on the book. Wait until you see what’s happened to Aquaman, Superman and Wonder Woman.

We’ve seen the blackboard in the pages of TIME MASTERS 6. Ok, we’ll bite. Who or what is S!H!A!Z!A!M!?

You’ll find out what S!H!A!Z!A!M! is in the very first issue of Flashpoint. What we didn’t want to do with this series was the expected. You won’t just see the DC Universe shaken up, you’ll see characters you’ve never met who’ve come into existence because of the historical damage done to the past. From Element Woman to Blackout to the Outsider to the Resistance. In a strange way, these new characters include S!H!A!Z!A!M! It may be the most radical change when it comes to the core DC Universe, but not quite…

Fans want clues about FLASHPOINT. What storylines might they want to revisit for an informed idea as to where we are headed?

Honestly, none. The Flash series and The Flash: Rebirth give you the foundation for Barry today, but even then Flashpoint #1 will tell you everything you need to know. You’ll meet the world and characters as you enter the story. But if you want to get really into it and meet some characters that are going to be making appearances you could pull out that copy of Batman: Year One, remind yourself who Steve Trevor is, check out Peter Milligan’s amazing run on Shade the Changing Man, prepare for Green Lantern Abin Sur’s return and make sure to pick up Dan Jurgens triumphant return to Booster Gold in May! Booster Gold is the only monthly book that ties into Flashpoint for obvious reasons and it’s great to see Dan back on it!

The sheer size of this event has turned me off. I'll read it, but I won't be pulling it.

FLASHPOINT spans the DC Universe from the dark streets of Gotham to the ruins of Big Ben. It’s an international tale of action and intrigue that impacts an entire universe.

Geoff Johns and Andy Kubert and Sandra Hope are creating an epic five issue series, one with a scope so big and ambitious that there will be fifteen mini series expanding on the events, along with several important one shots.

This afternoon we’ll be announcing fourteen mini series’ titles  - and leaving one a mystery for now, along with the one-shots.

This isn’t a parallel Earth.

This isn’t a mirror world.

This is home.

I MIGHT get the flash and green lantern related tie ins, but once again this is event ridiculousness.

  Interested? Yes

Will I be picking it up? No

I agree with flaming I think it should be kept as a Flash thing and not a DCU thing. Till I hear any good word about it I'm going to stick with asking my LCS worker all the details of it
