"Hmmm, well the cauterizing certainly saved his life, though I can't see why anyone didn't just stitch him up..."Nathan sighed, scrubbing at his face after removing the gloves. Glancing over his shoulder to Kate, he replied.

"Probably looks worse then it is... had to do some crude work down there." He muttered, "Thanks for your concern though, did the Captain say if he'd be down here?"

"Well...none of the rest of us are fancy-pants Core-trained doctors" Kate replied, half defensively and half teasing. "We had to work with what was on hand, and no one had the means to stitch him up."

At the question about the captain, she shrugged. "I don't know. I didn't wait to ask. He's probably doing captainy things and will probably be along soon. Seems to me like the type who actually gives a gose what happens to his crew." Kate had met several ship captains on her time on Sihnon, and some of those didn't give two ruts what happened to their crew as long as they made a profit...crewmembers were an expendable commodity to them.

Tojiro quickly checked the timing of their arrival at Seaview or Watersview... "Very good Cappy."

He then followed along to the makeshift infirmary. "Yes Doctor?" He questioned stepping into the room. The man was in bad shape that was clear enough, he wasn't sure what an update would do improve Pat's condition.

Nathan smirked slightly, turning to more fully face Kate, and offering a very slight bow to the Captain as he entered the room.

"Let me be frank, captain. The cauterizing saved Pat from death by blood loss, but it is growing rather infected. If the antibiotics I'm about to give him don't work, he may need to loose the leg. Either way, I'll need more supplies than what I currently have on hand to more effectively treat Pat... If we're going somewhere else on this planet, we better do so, and quickly."

As he spoke, Nate again scrubbed his hands down, slipping into another pair of rubber gloves as he cleaned the area directly around the burn and pressed an injector into the man's leg, shooting him up with a catch-all antibiotic, and a mild sedative.

"I've given him a mild sedative, so hopefully he can rest easier. I've also given him a basic antibiotic, although it's not as powerful as I would like, it should do the job."

"Thank Brock for telling me to cauterize the wound" Kate said, not wanting to hog all the credit.

Kate moved up beside the doctor and leaned over to look at the wound for a moment. She did not like the looks of it. "Is there anything we can do?" she asked. "Maybe drain the wound a little or something?" She couldn't recall if sticking a needle into a scab was something you did if a wound was infected or not. She hadn't had enough first aid training to know. She knew about CPR, tourniquets, and a few other basics, but treating infections was something a bit beyond her training. Hell, she hadn't even thought of cauterizing a wound before Brock had mentioned it.

"The efforts to save him were valient. Ability and knowledge of the proper methods did not matter. The devotion to the life proved to be the difference."
Clearly the spirit of those that tended the injured Patrick counted more. Yamamoto's odd opinion asides, it had been said with a lecturing tone to the doctor.

Tojiro looked over the wound as well. The look and condition seemed quite bad to him.
"When we arrive at Riversview we will get medical supplies as well. Prepare a list Miss Kate."

He started to head out the door, paused. "Well done."

And continued on.
